I bought a sample of this as it's a highly sought after perfume, but it's a bit spendy and I wasn't prepared to fork out so much for a perfume I didn't know if I was going to like. I am on the fence about it, but Fiance's opinion swayed me to not want it more.
The bottle as I understand it is black and textured, and it reminds me of black diamonds. There is also a hole in the centre of the bottle which shows very clearly the color of the perfume, pink! I love that you can see it and the color. The perfume sample was also a very vivid pink in color, so it's good to know such a small amount doesn't change color.
I sprayed this on myself and I could definitely smell the white florals mentioned, and then as the time goes on the coffee scent kicks in but only slightly. Then a big smack of vanilla comes along and I looove that the most, vanilla is bae!
I asked Fiance if he liked said scent and he put his nose on my skin like a sniffer dog and pulled away slowly. "Why you smell like old lady for?" was his question. So. Thanks for that! The scent lasts a really good amount of time as well, but it's to be expected from such an expensive brand. I wouldn't buy this, even though I do slightly like it. Plus the price tag really throws me off as well.
I had already fallen in love with this perfume before it had even arrived in stores. I had seen it on Instagram, in all it's black, sparkly, luxurious goodness, and the description sounded divine. This beauty was in my hands the day of its release in NZ, and it really does live up to the hype.
Both the bottle and scent are equally unique, and certainly nothing like the other YSL Opium fragrances. The bottle is luxurious and the excitement of seeing it on my dresser still hasn't faded almost a year later. Sparkly and glittery but black and classy, this is the perfume for those who have moved on from the pink princess stage, but still like some glitter in their lives. Aside from its glittery glory, the pump is practical and the packaging is sturdy enough to survive in your handbag.
Inside is a sweet, yet sultry scent. The combination of sweet chocolate with sharp yet warm coffee makes this the perfect transition from sweet, vanilla scents to a more mature fragrance. However it is certainly still very much a sweet fragrance, so if sweet isn't for you I wouldn't go near it. I have to be in a certain mood for a fragrance this sweet, so I only purchased a 30ml, however that is purely personal preference.
This isn't my signature scent, as it's not everyday that I want to smell like chocolate and coffee, but when I'm in the mood this is perfect. It is a high end, high quality fragrance so it does not smell artificial and it lasts all day on the skin. I can see myself repurchasing this fragrance at some point when I'm wanting to treat myself, particularly if an extra special Christmas gift set comes out.
Tips: If you are a little unsure about this fragrance, purchase a smaller size, as it is a scent that you could possibly get sick of or grow out of.
