An added treat for some, but not me.

I have combination/oily skin that can always do with a boost of moisture to leave it looking fresh and glowing. An overnight mask sounded like the perfect option as I could use it even when I didn't want to dedicate 20 minutes to sitting around with a mask on. I purchased this alongside two other Origins masks and this was my favourite.

The Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is in a green, squeezable tube. It is easy and hygienic to dispense. It smells fresh and isn't over-fragranced. The formula is creamy and spreads over the skin easily. Because it is a mask, it does leave a somewhat tacky residue but this is to be expected.

After leaving this mask on overnight my skin is fresh and nourished. A residue remains which does make me question how much of this mask is absorbing, and how much is sitting on top of the skin giving the allusion of moisture. The results for me were not amazing, due to an improved but not dramatic difference in my skin, and the off-putting residue. I'm also not 100% convinced on the ingredients list - something that I didn't look at until after purchasing it. This may be the perfect option for some, but I personally will stick to oils and more natural products for hydration in the future.

Tips: This could be applied as a night cream or to specific dry areas of the face.

Origins Drink up intensive overnight mask

This overnight mask is incredible. It has a gorgeous scent that is almost good enough to eat. The texture is smooth and creamy and spreads evenly on the skin, even in the delicate under eye area.

In the morning my skin is radiant and beautifully hydrated when I rinse my face with warm water (there is no need to do a morning cleanse). My foundation goes on smoothly and lasts the day.

Tips: This mask is best applied thirty minutes prior to bedtime so that it partially absorbs into the skin before heading to bed and rubbing it off on the pillowcase. Also, a little goes a long way with this product.

One of my favourites

This overnight mask really packs a punch, so hydrating and it plumps up my skin so well. I use this once or twice a week, depending on how dry my skin is, but definitely use it when I start feeling or seeing dry patches, works very well after chemical peels/exfoliation like salicylic or glycolic acid as it soothes and hydrates really well. The scent is subtle, but really nice, I like it a lot. Consistency is a heavy cream, but it’s expected from a moisturising overnight mask, however a little goes a long way, I’ve found it doesn’t make any difference if I pack a lot on or not, effects are the same in the morning: beautifully hydrated and plump skin. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t use this every night instead of a night cream? I wish I could, but I have way too many night creams to use up, so I leave it as a treat for now. :)

Tips: Mecca sells 10ml trial sizes, so you can try a smaller size first and they’re great for traveling too, one of those little ones lasts me around 3-4 nights. :)

Origins Drink Up Intensive Moisture Overnight Mask

Of all the overnight masks I've used so far this one is the most intensively moisturizing. I say moisturizing because your skin will feel greasy, and I bit sticky, like it has a layer of product on it. But if you wake up with dry skin, you already use serums, facial oils and moisturizing masks and your skin is tight and dry in areas, this is the mask worth a try. During winter my skin was super dry, I was layering on serums, facial oil and overnight masks and night creams. Doing that helped most of my face stay hydrated and feel comfortable but there was a few dry patches on my face that soon after I applied my facial oil seemed to drink it up and then I could feel those areas getting tight and uncomfortable. Since it was on my forehead and cheeks around my T-zone I could just see my pores stretching out from the dryness. I would apply my night cream or overnight mask to my face and after my facial oil had a chance to absorb and then I'd apply another layer of moisturizer or an overnight mask on those dry patches before bed and I'd still wake up with tight, uncomfortably dry skin. I looked online and this was the overnight mask to get. I started using this and the dryness seemed to fade and within a week and those tight areas in my T-zone became much more manageable and comfortable. This dark sort of avocado green tube is a must for super dry skin. It just gave those dry patches on my skin a huge moisture boost. I have used this all over my face but I didn't do that too often even during winter because it's sticky and my other moisturizers felt better, but I did use this to spot treat the dry areas. And it worked, I woke up the next morning and my dry areas weren't uncomfortably tight. The pros of this mask is that it's probably one of the best masks for dry skin on on the market, it's mid range price, a big tube and since it's a thicker cream consistency you only need a little bit. I also like that it has a lot of natural ingredients, a really long list of them. The cons are that it feels a bit sticky when you apply it, you can't use it all over your face year round (well, unless your skin is really, really dry year round) and if you like your skincare products completely natural this has quite a few synthetic ingredients. I also don't know how well it suits really irritated and sensitive skin. When the skin around my nose, cheeks and nostrils was peeling when I came down with the flu, this mask burned when I applied it. Which a shame as my skin really needed the moisture. The scent of this mask is difficult for me to place but I do detect a bit of apricot in it. Overall, I still think it's a good buy and while it's not my absolute fave overnight mask, it has it's spot in my mask collection and is a must for winter.

Tips: This mask is formulated for uber dry skin. You can use it all over your face but I find I get the best results from just applying it to the really dry areas that I like to treat or along the fine lines on my face. I read on the site that you're supposed to massage it in and tissue off the excess so maybe I have been applying it a bit wrong, since I don't wipe off my overnight masks. If you have oily or combination skin, there are other masks origins makes that are better suited to your skin type.

Honestly a 'skin drink'

The lovely kirstyl gave me this for Christmas, and it's gorgeous!

Origins packaging looks luxe, with natural colour choices and quality caps and seals. This particular product comes in a mid green inverted tube with a white cap. Unfortunately, I do get product build up that needs to be cleaned off occasionally, which seems a bit wasteful to me.

The cream is slightly yellow and with a distinct scent that is fresh and herbaceous. It's a relaxing scent and I'm a fan of it.

The cream spreads well, absorbs well, and leaves skin visibly plumper and more hydrated. I tend to use it once a week almost as a hydration treatment, and my face looks and feels much healthier after each use.

The 50ml version I have has lasted ages, and will be replaced when it runs out.

This was my first foray into Origins, and I'm loving it! Thanks Kirsty :)

Tips: they sell this in Mecca, so you should be able to get your hands on a sample to try if you ask them

On mecca’s site, it's now separated from the full size, has its own listing. Just search the brand origins, I think it’s the only $6 item. :)

I love this mask too, they sell 10ml travel sized ones that I take on travels, especially for summer holidays as my skin dries out from the water/Sun I think!? Only $6 too! :)

Amazing moisturiser!

I love this product and have gone through 4 tubes of it as I love it so much, I have combination skin that can sometimes depending on the month be really dry. So I use this as a moisturiser rather than a mask per say and love to use it when I am flying on a long flight as well, because you apply a small amount as a little goes a long way and even by the end of a 12 hour flight your skin still feels nourished! Something my skin used to battle with when flying as it would always dry out. I love how it gives the skin a nice refreshed look and love to use it on my hands as well if they are feeling extra dry. I wouldn't recommend this to someone with oily skin as yes it is an intense moisturiser/face mask but for those dry skin girls out there, this will soon be your new HOLY GRAIL.

My Fav Hydrating Mask

I bought this last year before my big trip to Europe. I wanted something to be able to moisturise my skin with on the plane, and also to add some pampering to something that is SO boring. Also this mask was tipped to be great on the plane as it goes on almost clear. I picked this up directly from the Origins website using my YouShop account.

The packaging is your usual squeezy bottle. I picked it up in the 50ml size as I wanted to take it on the plane, and also as I wasn't sure if I was going to like it so didn't want to waste my money. The top of the squeezy part is a lovely moss type green with white lettering on it and the cap is white.

I love the scent of this product!!! (which is very odd for me). It is fruity and floral and delicious all at the same time. But also it isn't super strong so on the plane I didn't feel like I was annoying everyone around me with the scent of my face mask. It comes out in a cream sort of consistency, but as you smooth it onto your skin it becomes quite clear. I do quite a thick layer as I figure this is a mask you leave on, so it does leave some white areas but nothing major. You don't actually need much of the product yet, my small tube is still going strong. This sinks into the skin beautifully over time, but does leave a bit of a tacky finish which is annoying on your pillowcase or to have your hair sticking to your face if you leave it on over night. Usually I use this in the early evening so I can take off the residue before bed. I love the way my skin feels after using it, super plump and moisturised.

Now I'm back from the trip I still love this mask. I usually use it after using something like a mud mask to put the moisture back in my skin and it always does the trick. I will definitely look at repurchasing when I run out.

Great for dry-skin types!

When I first tried this product, I loved it so much. It smelt wonderful (like a really strong, fresh, fruity scent which I'm obsessed with) and it was incredibly hydrating. I would use this on Friday nights after a long week of work as a sort of weekend home "spa" treatment. The next morning my face would feel so soft and plump.

After discovering the wonders of korean skincare, this product was quickly forgotten and I didn't really need it in my extensive skincare routine. It was too greasy as a morning moisturiser (I have combo-oily skin), and there was no need for it in my night time routine as I was getting enough hydration from other products. If you already own a night cream, I really don't see the point of this mask.

If you're looking for something that is deeply hydrating, then I recommend most especially if you have dry skin. But I feel that there are more products out there that are cheaper and provide the same, if not better, effect.

Tips: use a coin-sized amount as you don't need much to apply all over the face.

Your skin will drink this up!

I love this intensely hydrating over night mask, it’s so good at rejuvenating my skin and leaving it looking fresh for the next morning. My skin drinks this up, and loves the texture of this fabulous mask. I definitely think it’s more of a winter mask than a summer one, but if you’re skins really dehydrated then use it whenever.

Woke up with better skin

I bought this after reading reviews online for hours looking for a mask to hydrate my skin and I am so happy I came across this!

The product comes in a squeezy tube which I love as it is probably the most hygienic form to have a mask in. Usually after removing my make up, my skin gets quite dry and tight but instantly after smoothing the product over my face it sinks in and my face feels so refreshed! However, It can feel slightly sticky, but this stickiness goes away by the time you wake up. With a pea sized drop, I use the product as a night moisturiser and have had nothing but glowing, plumped and soft skin in the morning! There is a slight avocado scent similar to the Antipodes night cream but does not irritate the skin at all.

At only $39 a bottle from Mecca Cosmetica, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a mask or even a night moisturiser. It works wonders on drier skin types and will leave your skin looking, smelling and feeling AMAZING!!
