Contouring, Simplified

So on my recent BeautyBliss haul I saw this Contour brush and thought it would be perfect! It was $14 which I thought was really reasonable.

When I opened it I thought the brush hairs were incredibly soft, I wondered how it would possibly go at blending in contour (especially on my super pale skin). The handle is black and incredibly light. I love the Carousel Cosmetics logo on the brush too with the horse. The brown hairs are really soft and shaped in a rectangle/long oval, which is great for creating the line under your cheekbones, down the sides of your nose, and around the face and jawbone.

The brush itself picks up the perfect amount of colour which I love. I generally use one side of the rectangle for picking up the colour and applying it then the other side for blending it upwards. I thought the softness might be a problem for blending but it still manages to work really well. I haven't had any problems with shedding at all, and it is easily cleaned without any problems.

I would definitely recommend this product to those wanting to contour as it really makes it a really easy job.

Carousel Cosmetics Contour Brush

I purchased this brush from BeautyBliss as an added extra for myself when buying a birthday present for myself, and I'm glad I did!

The brush is surprisingly large. I can see how this would be useful for contouring around the jawline, cheekbones, and other large areas but when I'm going in around my nose I find I almost can't see what I'm doing. It also doesn't fully fit in my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette pans (which are pretty decently sized!). Despite the size, it still fits in my hand comfortably and easily.

The brush hairs are super soft, which I like. I'm not a fan of stiff brushes as I feel like they disturb the makeup I've already got on too much, plus they can hurt! Even though these brush hairs are soft they still keep their shape really well.

I've only washed this brush once so far and I did feel like it took a bit longer to dry than my other brushes but it still washed really easily with my Bossy brush cleanser and I've had no shedding.

I'd recommend this brush more for those wanting to contour larger areas of the face, but would suggest a smaller brush (even an eyeshadow blender) for down the sides of the nose unless you consider yourself skilled with contouring.

Contour brush

Lovely black wooden handle, brush hairs are very soft. I use this for contouring my cheeks and forehead and it does a great job, sometimes I need to use other brushes so the contour is not too dramatic. I would not recommend this brush for your nose as it says you are able to in the product description, the brush is too big for that job. I have only used this for powder contour as I mainly use a sponge for creams.

Brush it off

I am not too picky with brushes but it depends on the use.. and the price haha. I like to use a proper contouring brush as contouring is all about application and where about on your face it is applied - I don’t want it everywhere unlike bronzer.

I personally am not a fan of the stumpy bristles of this one. I much prefer a slanted one or even better a tapered head one.

It’s soft but not the softest.. I will give it that but it picks up far too much makeup and is really only good enough for the larger areas of your face - cheeks etc. I like to highlight my brow bones a little and this is absolutely useless for that.

When it picks up makeup it picks up far too much and not evenly so you use it up likes it’s going out of fashion and it’s not easy to tap excess away from the brush either. Not being slanted makes it difficult to use and not being tapered makes it not as versatile.

It’s a bit too skinny that you have to really blend the product in sometimes as it almost applies in a thin line so again a different brush would have a softer application effect.

Ok price but I would probably save my money and put it towards a Mecca or any other tapered tip brush for contouring.
