Matte and Flawless

I love the idea of setting sprays but haven't really found one that I love that isn't a high-end item. We were lucky enough to finally get NYX at Farmers I knew I had to get my hands on the setting spray I had heard so much about!

The bottle seemed a bit smaller than other setting sprays that I had tried in the past so it wasn't as nice to hold in your hands like the Urban Decay range. The nozzle worked a treat - I always panic with lower priced items that have a nozzle incase the spray isn't even and it ends of feeling like drops of rain on your face. But this evenly distributed the product in a lovely fine mist!

The product itself doesn't really have a scent and is very light weight, it settles down any powders on your face and sets everything ready for you to take on the day!

I have tried both the Matte and Dewy finishes and I slightly prefer the Dewy for a bit more of a natural look for everyday wear, but they both preform the same and do a great job making sure the make-up stays put!

Tips: You can also use this spray on a eyeshadow brush to get a better result with some eyeshadows and loose glitters.

Perfect budget spray

I have very VERY oily skin. So it is almost impossible for a drugstore foundation to last on my skin for more than an hour - less so in summer - without a primer or a setting spray. That's why I splurge on Estee Lauder double wear stay in place. However, in summer that mask of a foundation also tend to move around the nose and apple of the cheek area within 3 hours. So a setting spray is a must have in my routine. Now, I haven't used any high-end sprays, just drugstore brands. But from among them this works the best for me even without a primer underneath. The only other brand comes even close is the E.L.F one.

Tips: Complete your makeup. Spray this all over the face keeping about 1 feet's distance between the face and the spray nozzle. I spray 5-6 times. Then immediately fan your face using a small book or a cardboard until the spray dries. This will take about 30-60 seconds depending on how much you sprayed.

Definitely Matte

I have oily skin, so whenever I wear makeup, I like to have matte finish look. I bought this from makeup.co.nz after reading great reviews about it. It’s a clear liquid contained in a 60ml black plastic spray bottle. To me in smells like glue, but not as strong. The matte setting spray is created with a water-based formula.

Once I’ve finished applying makeup on my face and let it set for around five minutes before I sprayed the matte setting spray approximately 30cm away from my face. It sprays as a mist and I made sure to use an even amount around my face. If I over sprayed it, I just lightly dabbed a tissue on my face to remove any excess mist. After the matte spray set, it gave my makeup a matte finish and it lasted the whole day. I also had no need to top it up throughout the day and my natural oils didn’t shine through. The spray was very light weight and it didn’t give a sticky feel on my face.

This spray is very affordable for its great quality. This is perfect for anyone with oily skin or just someone who is wanting a matte finish look.

Tips: Hold the bottle around 25-30cm away from the face, to get more of an even spray on the face.

I wondered

So now I know why I can’t find this in store anymore, it’s really disappointing that this has been discontinued.

I went between Matte and dewy finish.

Both products are really the same besides the finish the matte isn’t as sleek and glossy as the dewy. It’s more of a harsher finish if I’m wording that correctly.

It worked well and defiantly kept make up in place.

Matte Setting Spray

Packaged in a black matte spray bottle, this lightweight, long-lasting spray dries instantly with a non-sticky finish. It does help keep my make-up looking fresher for longer with only 2 - 3 spritzes.

When spraying the mist, press the nozzle down fast and firmly to get a fine mist. Unfortunately, the spray bottle nozzles are not always consistent and some bottles can be more tempremental and vary between a fine mist and spraying rather large droplets. I've found with trial and error (especially if the bottle has a faulty spray nozzle) that spraying the setting spray into the air and then walking into the mist is more reliable than squirting the bottle directly onto my face and risk having large droplets run down my perfectly applied make-up.

Tips: If your nozzle insists on only spraying a stream or squirting large droplets, try decanting the setting spray into a travel sized misting bottle or swap a similiar sized nozzle onto the existing bottle.
