Little Gems

I recently discovered an Essence stand at my local Farmers and I was so excited! Finally we are getting more affordable brands. Also a brand that I have heard readily praised on Youtube.

First of all the colour range is fantastic! There is definitely a colour option there for everyone, from glittery polishes to pinks, blues, reds, naturals and teals. I opted for a darker cherry hue.

The formula is really nice, just right id say, not to thick, not to thin. It applies smoothly and evenly and its quite opaque, two coats gives you the perfect colour payoff.

It dries quickly and wears fairly well, not quite as long as other nail polish brands I own but for the price that doesn't worry me.

I'd happily own them all xo

Tips: Use with a base and top coat for longer wear

Don't see the point in expensive polishes anymore

When the Essence brand had first launched at Farmers, I was a bit skeptical about such a cheap brand. But one day, I was desperate for some new nail polish colours, and ended up buying a red, nude and a pale pink. Firstly, they have covered all the base colours, which is lovely, and sometimes, they will bring out different colours with their themes. The bottles are a decent size, not too big but not too small, and consist with the standard plastic lid with brush, and a glass bottle. The brush itself is pretty average to be honest- the brush end is flat, the application is not amazing, although I suppose I'm no expert myself- I do find that more expensive polishes have brushes which are shaped in ways which are easier to manouver.

The formula itself varies between the colour- my pale pink polish only requires two coats, and can look smooth and shiny (with a top coat), whereas the other two require three coats. But that's no big deal for me really, just takes a bit longer to dry.

Tips: Take your time to paint your nails with this one, the brushes aren't the easiest to use.

Cheap and easy!

I love the teeny price of this product and the colours available! The colours are super vibrant and the brush is amazing for a flawless quick application!

Only downside for me is that it didnt wear overly well only last a few days before it chipped and flaked, Might be best if top coated.

Tips: Apply a top coat to increase the wear

Great value

I bought this in the weekend, and was impressed, It is great value for money and easy to apply. I bought one bottle and now looking at buying another next time I go to farmers. I used a base coat and top coat. The top coat gives it the extra shine. I applied two nights ago and still looking fab!!!

Tips: Be sure to add a top coat !

Its okay

Its an okay product, for the price i love the selection and the application. however, it only lasts a day on my finger nails before i notice chipping - it lasts longer when i paint my toes.

Id buy more of this product because it is so affordable, i love the colours and because i apparently love having to re-apply nail polish on my fingers every other day.... this however is probably why i havent really recommended it to friends.

Essence Colour and Go Nail Polish

I am obsessed with these polishes. They can be picked up at my local Farmers store and are incredibly affordable. They come in many shades and have a beautiful finish. Although they do chip after 4 days without a top coat but with a top coat it usually lasts for about a week. I have about 6 different shades and I hope to add more to my collection. Personally I love how cute they look so I have mine in a white tray on my bookshelf.

Tips: Using a top coat will help the polish wear longer.

Do You Speak Love and Wonderfuel

When I finally got my hands on Essence, I bought a small haul of stuff! Being a nail polish lover, I got Do You Speak Love (a gorgeous dark red), and Wonderfuel (a 'blurple'). They were about $3.30 each and for the price you really can't complain! Do You Speak Love is better than the similar Revlon shades I have tried, and Wonderfuel is nice too although the shade is just a bit too "2000's teenager" for me, if that makes sense? Like it reminds me of Revlon Streetwear. Not saying that's a bad thing though. There's a great selection of colours, and more coming out all the time. I find nail polish never lasts very long on me, so Essence is as good as any, in that area.

Tips: I bought the Essence nail oil and the polish touch up pen, which also are helpful for doing a nice manicure. Cheap as chips!

Essence Colour & Go - Not Bad for the Price

I bought a bunch of assorted beauty products online and a bright, vivid, dark green. It looked like a cheap polish from the look of the bottle so I didn't have any high expectations. I do like the the brush, it's flat and got a rounded end which makes it easy to paint my nails and cover a good amount of my nail so my paint job is quicker and less streaky. One coat of this polish provided enough opacity and the drying time was average. On day two after my mani, I got the first small chip. On day three more chipping and by day four I needed to remove the polish. Now I've used some cheap polishes which have chipped within on day two but, they cost two to three times as much. So given the cost of the polish and the fact that brush is makes it easy for application, I would have to say this is the best, cheap polish I have come across so far. The cons of this polish are that there isn't a huge color selection readily available and if you prefer 3 or 5 free polishes, I don't think this brand is one of them. I personally prefer to spend a bit more on polish and get something that stays on longer but if you like to repaint your nails regularly or are just itching for a certain color in the range and don't want to shell out for polish this is a good option.

Tips: This is a good cheap polish for those who grow tired of wearing a certain shade on their nails all week. I don't think it's 3 or 5 free though, so if you prefer your polishes a little less toxic this probably isn't the brand for you.

Cheap little gem

On one of my apparently numerous visits to Farmers, I finally took notice of the nail polish section of the Essence stand. Considering I'm so picky about polish colours it seemed none of them would stand out until I saw 'give me nude, baby!'

I took a good look at it and I knew I had to get it. It's a very soft and translucent white with a slight duochrome shimmer. I have a habit of gravitating towards translucent whites and pinks since my skintone is quite an awkward one. This polish did not let me down at all. It didn't make my skintone look strange and looked as natural as nails with whitish polish could get. It's an incredibly easy to wear colour and is on the more low maintenance end. Now, it did chip fairly quickly (after 4-5 days) but all things considered, I'm still quite happy with it.

Despite how much I love the polish, I actually am more impressed with the brush. I've only had a few polishes with a double brush but they were all pricier polishes, not one that cost me, what, $3? It's so easy to apply the polish quickly which is great for lazy souls like me!

Perfect little bargains

It's not often you find something so on point - cheap polishes, that are awesome to work with, wear well and come in a range of colours? Sign me up!

I actually mostly use 'the gel' polishes from Essence now, or the 'i <3 trends' ones - but it all started with 'colour and go'.

These are ridiculously cheap little bottles of awesome. They are only 8 ml, so no dramas with polish drying out before you use it up. The brushes are squat and wide, with a decent handle so that they are not fiddly despite the small size. The formula is on point - one coat is okay, two is perfect, and it's a good thickness and opacity. Dry time is not too long, and ear time is up there with much pricier polishes. The colour range is wide, and on trend - but veers off. I can usually find a polish I like from them.

I haven't actually seen 'colour and go' in a while, so unsure if it's been destocked in favour of 'the gel' but it's definitely worth a look.

The only reason it isn't 5/5 is that I prefer the gel ones ever so slightly (hello, plump shiny finish). I'd merrily use these though!

Tips: They're like $3 each. Just buy and try.
