I've tried matte lipsticks before and found them very drying but when these came out, I tried them out instore before purchasing.
The first colour I bought was High Flyer 610, a lovely soft pink. It went on really easily and stayed on through 2 coffees before I had to reapply it. It also didn't flake much which was a bonus.
I recently bought Call The Shots 120, a lovely bright coral, and that too is lasting without drying. It has reasonable staying power although colour degradation and flaking is a little more obvious.
I got this in ‘Call the shots’, which is a really lively fuchsia pink colour. This is a really pigmented matte lipstick, just as strong and intense as Rimmels’ original ‘the only one’ series in the black tubes. The major difference is the formula of this matte series, which wasn’t as silky smooth, creamy and hydrating as their super smooth original, but still feels pretty good for a matte.
There was enough hydration to a certain extent, where it didn’t make my lips feel completely dry. But once you do feel dry, you can only reapply with more lipstick, as putting lip balm on top of it will make your lips lose it’s colour faster. Not sure if it was just that colour, but the pigment in the matte series seems to transfer easier, and precipitate out faster, as i could see the coloured precipitants in my cup of water....
However, with the matte property of this lipstick, it’s easily blendable nature, plus it’s intense pigments, you could make lovely gradient lips with this series.
In terms of moisture and comfort, i probably do prefer the original black tube ones. However, if you dislike a silky-creamy feel, or have no problem with dry mattes, you might prefer this series.
