Lip stain that goes on liquid and dries completely matte. Touch-proof, long-wearing, and utterly addictive!

Not as Amazing as You Think

Now don't get me wrong I adore the Velvetines especially the new collection (I got all three) but I have to strongly disagree with the whole non-transferable thing. I found that with eating and drinking it will, just like every other lippy, come off. It is also extremely drying on your lips. Even with a lip balm as a base I found like all the moisture in my lips was sucked up by this product and even licking my lips didn't help remove this dryness. The actual applicator is the seriously annoying! This product is so hard to apply right due to it being a liquid lipstick that dries matte. That means if you make a mistake you need to remove it asap before it dries and stains your skin. You would think that since it needs to be applied carefully they would make it easy for you by having the applicator in a brush form but no somehow a doe applicator seemed to be the best idea -_- The colour pay-off is great I just think some things could have been done better

Tips: Apply balm before wearing as it is extremely drying Use a lip brush if you have one as it is much easier to apply then with the doe applicator

Clueless Witch

I have been wanting to purchase one of these for ages and have decided to finally buy one due to the influence of many BRA's. I was debating with myself whether to get Wicked or Salem. I decided to purchase Salem due to not having a shade in my lipstick collection like this at all. I absolutely loved the packaging that this came in as it is super pretty. When I first opened up the product I was surprised with how small the applicator is due to every other product I have used similar to this has a decent sized applicator. I absolutely love this shade Salem as it is a matte brown and I find that it suits me which is great. I have found that I wouldn't usually reach for a product of this shade as I never thought that I wouldn't suit me. I absolutely love the staying power of this lip stain and I am definitely purchasing the shade Wicked next pay.

Tips: Line your lips with a nude lip liner as it is easier to get a precise application. Try to wipe most of the product off before application as a little goes a long way. Also, work very quickly as this dries very quickly.

A little drying

I was so excited to try this after all the rave reviews. Nice attractive packaging very pretty, nice to see the level off the lippy and a nice sponge tip applicator. So nice primed lips and a great pencil lip liner around the edge I carefully stick this on my lips evenly all over stick my finger in my mouth and pull it out I hate lippy on my teeth. And such a lovley deep pigmented colour very matt and my lips knew I had it on them sort off a drying feeling. This colour lasted a couple off coffees and lunch with no topping up around 6 hours, and when it decided to come off it was quite patchy but it was the end off the day and the rest off it just came off with makeup remover easy as. My lips did feel dry all day and even through this is a long wearing lippy I have had ones that last as long but are more comfortable for my lips and around the same price. A great lasting product I won't probably wont repurchase as I like soft lips.

Tips: keep your lips dry

Loving this product

Think it's safe to say this stuff is amazing, long lasting and just a product to die for. I have both reds and the newest one on it's way which I def can't wait to get my hands on.

Tips: good to use a lip brush to apply and also putting on lip primer or lip balm on underneath.

Lime Crime Velvetines - Actually Touch Proof Lippy

This was the first liquid lippy I bought. I had seen so many swatches of Wicked online and I had to have that gorgeous burgundy shade that went so well with any skin tone. I also have Utopia which is a pretty fuschia orchid shade. It's very unique I don't have anything like it in my collection of lippies. Now at the time of this review I have another popular brand of liquid lipsticks which is also long wearing. However I find that while the other brand isn't touch proof Lime Crime is. That's what I love about Lime Crime, you apply it and it stays put. Take a drink of water, kiss a loved one or significant other, I can even have a snack providing it doesn't have oil in it and my lippy looks great and hardly any fading, no transfer or bleeding. If I eat an entire meal it does come off in the middle and sides and leave me with a bright or dark ring of color on the edges of my lips so I will need to either remove my lippy or reapply. That being said if I don't eat I can get four or six hours of good wear from this. One swipe of lippy and it's opaque and loaded with pigment but I can apply more layers on top without it getting patchy. It does feel drying but I think that's just a characteristic of liquid lipsticks. The cons of this product is that is it drying, if you have dry lips the pigments will cling to any dry bits and emphasize them. Also when it comes time to take it off you it is harder to remove than normal lipstick, it takes a bit of rubbing and if you have already dry lips it's not awful or painful but it's not fun although it could be just liquid lipsticks in general. But the main con in my opinion is that the site did have security issues early last year and the customer service surrounding the issue was pretty poor. I waited till the security breaches on the site were repaired. My credit card was near expiry as well so I felt I could do an order. I did use Paypal and didn't have any issues at all. My order arrived in about two weeks and everything was as it should be. I think the Velvetines are really good I was just put off buying when the site was hacked into and customers' credit card information was leaked. I do want to get more of these Velvetines since I like it when my lipstick is touch proof, but I will avoid purchasing directly from the site if I can. But so far this is the only really transfer and touch proof liquid lipstick that I have come across.

Tips: Definitely exfoliate your lips before applying these to make sure you don't have any dry bits that the color can accentuate. If you are going to wear these regularly a good lip balm is a must before and after. I like to exfoliate my lips, apply the balm before I start with the rest of my makeup and then since I do my lipstick last the lip balm has had a bit of time to soak in. I blot my lips before I apply the Velvetine. If you aren't good at applying liquid lipsticks like me I find a bit of miscellar water on a cotton bud helps to clean up the edges a bit. Or for a more professional look you can use a bit of concealor on concealor brush to just clean up the edges around your mouth and get a more defined line. When I want to remove it I hold a cotton round soaked in micellar water to my lips for about thirty seconds before I wipe my lips. I do that twice and almost all the color is off. If you do decide to order from the site I do recommend using Paypal to pay as the customers using Paypal didn't have their credit card details leaked.

Finally a lip colour that stays on all day

Let me just say that practice makes perfect with these lippys. I got a little over excited the first day I got my beautiful Salem (a dark chocolate brown) & applied way to much which caused it to not settle to well on my lips & ended up becoming patchy during the day & touch ups were needed. But once I learnt how to apply it correctly they are just magic. They go on super smooth & then dry to a weightless Matte finish. Also I found that it smells exactly like buttery popcorn (I had this confirmed by some friends). I will definitely be adding more of these to my collection soon

Tips: Make sure you lips are nice & smooth before application. Also have then dry & balm or gloss free so that the liquid really holds in place

Wicked!

Matte lipstick is my favourite finish on a lipstick. I have tried other brands of liquid matte lipsticks, but decided to take the plunge and try one of these.

I got the shade 'wicked', which is the most beautiful deep red shade (it is somewhat reminiscent of venous blood haha).

The packaging is nice - although I kind of wish it had the sparkly unicorns that the opaque lipsticks have. The lid has roses on it, which is pretty, and I love that the tube where the lipstick is, is frosted. It looks expensive and feels like good quality and very sturdy.

The first thing that I noticed when I opened it, was that the doe foot applicator is smaller than other brands of lip products. I actually quite like this as it makes it very easy to line the lips precisely.

As with other Lime Crime products, this has a light vanilla scent to it, which is pleasant and not at all overpowering.

In terms of the pigmentation of this - it gets 10/10. It is SO pigmented, which means you don't have to use a lot of product to cover your lips. It dries fairly quickly and, once dried, it has a beautiful velvet looking matte finish. It is very, very matte - so if you want a slight sheen or gloss when wearing this then you will need to put a lip gloss over the top of it.

These last a long, long time on your lips without moving or fading - unless you eat or get drink on them. If I don't eat and am careful with drinking, I can get about 6-7 hours of wear out of this before touching it up. If I eat, however, the product does degrade a little where food has touched my lips, so I take this with me if I plan to eat.

Because they are super matte they can be a little drying, although I personally don't mind this as I love the staying power. However, if dry lips are something you abhor, read my tips below on how to avoid that when wearing this :) You don't have to use a lip liner when wearing these, however I like to as when it starts to wear off it tends to bleed a little around the corners of my mouth.

Overall I absolutely adore this and very much want to get Salem, Suedeberry and Red Velvet to add to my collection. The colour Wicked is the perfect shade for vampy lips and I always get complimented when wearing it. It's one of my favourite ever lipsticks and I highly recommend it!

Tips: To avoid dry lips, I exfoliate my lips before using this. Then I apply a moisturising lip balm after exfoliating while doing the rest of my makeup.

After my face is done, I gently wipe off the lip balm and apply the Velvetine. This makes my lips feel hydrated and doesn't affect the wear time of the Velvetine whatsoever.

Lime Crime Velvetines

I have this in Suedeberry and it's such a great product! The colour is awesome (a real orangey-red) and the pigmentation is really good. I find that you need to be careful with how much you put on, as if you put on more than one coat I find that it doesn't dry properly or takes ages to dry.

Tips: Be quick to fix any mistakes as these dry quickly and really don't budge!

My all time fave liquid lipstick

My first liquid lipstick came in the form of lime crime Bleached. From there I was hooked I now own 7 different ones. Easy to apply and don't move thru most things. Smell and look amazing only downside is it's a bit pricey for what it is but it's definitely worth every penny and you need at least one line crime in your collection

Tips: Lip scrub before application and on removal to avoid staining :)

Velvetine

I thought I had done a review on this but obviously I hadn't so this is a late review.

I bought this after giving into all the hype about it online. I have the pink velvetine.

I like that this dries matte and doesn't take long to dry. It stays put once its on and lasts all day. It is highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. The pink is a nice hot pink which can be made darker by applying a couple of extra coats. The tube is pretty cute and handy to carry around.

I don't like the applicator, I feel it doesn't give a precise application and can look a little messy around the edges. It's very hard to wipe off any little mistakes. Because its so dry and matte it does catch on to any flakiness on the lips and this will be very obvious once the lipstick has dried. It can rub off in the middle if you have only applied one coat so I would recommend applying a couple of coats to make sure it lasts all day. Once it's on you can go about your day as normal and not worry about it rubbing off or anything.

Now that I know about the scandal I won't be buying Lime Crime products again.

Tips: Scrub your lips and prime before applying this. Use a lip brush for precise application and clean up any mistakes with concealer.
