Not bad for its price

I got this as part of a haul just because I saw it was cheap and I thought why not. It's by far not the best primer I've used (Fav at the moment is urban decay eyeshadow primer) but it does what a primer is supposed to do. It does the job and holds the eyeshadow for much longer, makes the colors more vibrant as well as makes the eyelid smoother looking. Because it's colored, it actually makes has a very slight concealer effect, so that's a plus. The texture is quite nice, and application is easy with the wand, although I prefer to blend it in with my fingers.

e.l.f Eyelid Primer

Not too bad for the price. The first time I used it, my eyelids were quite dry from eczema and it just clumped together. The second time I used it after some proper skin care to the eyes, this rolls on really easily. Makes my eyeshadow last a bit longer on my naturally oily eyelids. I have this in pearl which has a bit of shimmer in it so makes some of my eyeshadows look a wee bit more glittery. But definitely not bad for the price! Good for beginners.

Sheer

I picked this up a long time ago from iherb for USD$3. I have used a quite a few high-end eyeshadow primers so I was really interested to see how this would compare to the NARS and Urban Decay ones. I picked this up in Sheer which is just a nude-y pink shade.

The packaging is very simple as per most e.l.f. products that I have. But also at the same time kind of similar to the NARS one. Just a long tube with a matte black lid (although not rubberised like NARS). It has a doe foot applicator which I really like, makes it really easy to get the product out and onto the eye.

The product is really nice and somehow matches my skin tone quite well. It does have quite a silcone type feel to the touch which is nice. I didn't feel like it was clumpy or a weird consistency at all. When you sheer it out the colour goes away a bit so I feel like it would suit quite a lot of people. If you leave this for a while it drys down quite a bit which is nice, it feels like a nice base for eyeshadows (as it should). I actually think that this performs incredibly similar although not quite as well as the NARS formula, which is great for the price! It helps make my eyeshadows last a lot longer and the colours show up a bit nicer too.

I think overall the Urban Decay one is still my favourite but this is still fantastic, especially for the price.

primer

I have not tried many primers especially for the eye so I do not have much to go on before this I tried putting foundation on my lids. This product I scored for $2 I have the pearl and the champagne types. I have not tried the gold version I tried last night when I put make up on before bed as a little pick me up and to impress my boyfriend I went all out on the eye make up and naughty me did not wash off till todays shower. I have to say some of my eye shadow stayed on and this was from using the pearl primer. The packaging is good with its little applicator how ever not to be confused with lip gloss... the product felt sort of silky going on my eye but I noticed the applicator did not pick up much and I felt I needed a little more than just one sweep / dip of product. I also noticed that the bottle was not full when I got it. The pearl has fine glitter in it so I think could be used as a high lighter too and turn a matte eye shadow shimmery or creamy. I would re buy.

e.l.f Eyelid Primer

I decided to buy an eyelid primer to see if it helped my eyeshadows stand out more, last longer and have less fall out. And with this product only being $2 at Kmart, I couldn't lose.

On opening the eyelid primer, the first thing I was really disappointed to see is that there isn't really that much product in there. There is a wand for application in there that is like a lipgloss wand, but not the ton of product you see in a lipgloss.

To test if this product worked I've done one eye with eyelid primer and one without. The results were that the eye with the eyelid primer retained slightly more of the shadow over the day making that eye slightly more pigmented. Other than that I did not notice any significant differences.

I probably wouldn't bother buying this product again but might look at another primer. But I am still undecided.

Cheap Eye Primer for Beginners

I found this eye primer to work well, it didn't help the eyeshadow stay all night long. But for a beginner its surely one to try, and its cheap so you're getting what you've paid for.

Tips: Don't use with bold colours, stick to your neutrals!

first time eyelid primer use - not too bad

This is the first specific eyelid primer iv used I used to just use my facial primer (eeek) so nothing to compare it to... I bought this at Kmart for $10. Not 100% happy with it but its not too bad and definitely not put me off eyelid specific primers. The packaging seems deceiving on how much you get, I hate the wand application I'd prefer to just use it like a cream with my fingers, it comes out quite thick so blending is a must and while I love shimmer the glitter in it is unnecessary I think especially if u didn't want to use shimmer eyeshadows.

However I did like how my eye-shadow stuck to it and they did last longer and stronger with this than my usual routine.

A cheap fave

If you’re on the fence about this primer, let me tell you it’s a good budget one. I mean, it’s not going to work miracles, but it does prolong eye shadow wear. If I don’t use this my eye shadow will smudge or simply disappear during the day, whereas if I do I notice it stays on much, much longer, if not all day. You can get this in a brown or a white, and I personally like the white one better. Good, budget price and a decent sized bottle. It has a felt sort of brush that you unscrew with the lid and you can use that to apply or just dab on and use your fingers.

e.l.f Eyelid Primer

This is the first eye primer i ever tried and it is so good! I got it for about $3 off iHerb.

Its got quiet a thin consistency and blends very well. It helps my eyeshadow stay on for much longer than usual and helps prevent creasing.

It doesnt really help too much with the pigmentation of my shadows. My eye makeup doesnt always last an entire day with this either.

Is it as good as my too faced or benefit eye primers? no... but it does an amazing job for a fraction of the price.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone on a budget or just starting out

Great for the price!

I loved this primer, I used the shade sheer, I apply it under my concealer under my eyes and under my eyeshadow. I feel like it helps my concealer not crease and last through the day. I definitely think it helped my shadow last and look better.

Tips: I just applied it with my fingers.
