I use makeup wipes every day, because I wear makeup every day, and I'm the kind of person that by the end of the night I like to have the option of sitting on the couch to remove my makeup. So this definitely isn't a review on makeup wipes per se (they're great), but a review on the Garnier Micellar variety.
About a year or two ago when Micellar became the beauty buzzword, I tried the Garnier Micellar Water (in bottle). I liked it, but as a testament to my aforementioned lazy ways, it didn't stick because I hate washing flannels. I went back to my makeup wipes. Then! Lo and behold, here are Micellar Wipes!
Unfortunately they did not meet my expectations. They do remove it, but I found I had to spend a lot longer vigorously rubbing my face to break up the make up. This caused the wipe to rough up into some half disintegrated mess.
These wipes are touted as being loaded with moisture, but sadly that wasn't my experience.
I love micellar skin products so when these came on special at my local supermarket I thought I'd try them as a comparison to my regular wipes.
The wipe fabric was a little coarser visually than I expected but still felt soft to touch. It also didn't feel particularly moist which surprised me, as that was what the packaging suggested.
I had to rub quite hard to get my makeup off. I was only using a light-medium coverage foundation, so having to rub to get it off was quite an unusual, almost disconcerting experience for me. In the end I had to use 2 wipes to remove all my makeup, leaving me frustrated as I wasn't used to having to double up.
Although having to use 2 wipes and rub much harder than I expected, my skin was not irritated and felt soft to touch. They did the job, but they aren't a brand I would use again. I feel like a product that is touted as having moisture, should actually have it. These wipes didn't. Gentle, yes but moist, no.
