MAC Pro Longwear Foundation Review

I found this really hit and miss. The coverage was awesome, and staying power was pretty good, but as someone with excessively oily skin it did slip and slide a bit, and seperated a bit.

This was one of my first 'higher end' foundations/good foundations that I owned and I have used it for years now. I initially had a bit of a hick up because the first one I purchased really wasn't the right shade - I would recommend when you're getting coloured match to make sure that the sales assistant is taking the time with you. I felt as though the first time I purchased this I was young and new to makeup, I felt a bit rushed and I didn't have the knowledge or experience to question it or try a different shade or two.

PROS: Medium to full coverage, it comes in a statin finish or a matte finish. I've tried both matte and satin but matte is my go too because I've been blessed with oily as skin. The matte finish does what it says and it applies easily but it is MATTE.

What I love is even though this is a long wearing, matte product, it is creamy, light weight, blend-able and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. Often products with this coverage and long wearing properties can feel really heavy and thick.

CONS: Because my skin is hella oily, I do find that the oils, especially around the T-zone, do peak through after a few hours of wear, but honestly that is what I expect with anything because this skin/oil has a mind of it's own... there ain't no controlling it.

It does promise a natural finish and I find it does when I blend it in with Fix+ it does, but sometimes I feel it can look a teeny bit cakey... more in the under eye/forehead/nose/chin area.

I'm never 100% happy with the shade and this is more of my own grievance with my skin tone then the product itself.. I feel like the cool tone is too cool and the warm tone is too warm... but as mentioned that's not a fault of the product.

CONCLUSION: This is a trustworthy product, it's stood by my side for years. I think the most important thing I can stress is to talk to a sales rep, use their knowledge and don't be afraid to try out a few different shades, make sure that you're getting matched with a foundation that's right for you. MAC have such an awesome range, you're bound to find something that is right for your skin. This product is great for me and my oily skin and it does come through with it's promise to be long wearing.

when I purchased this mac foundation I believed it gave me a flawless finish. a few months down the track reaching the bottom of the bottle I have started to experience pimples appearing on certain areas of my face , I clean my makeup every night but doesn't seem to clear the issue as fast as it should. now that I have minimised the use of this products I am starting to see results!

I think I prefer the studio fox fluid to this one. It does just as good a job and I think it has better coverage too. It's also slightly cheaper. Although this one does has it's own pump which is a bonus. It is a great foundation though.

I have had this for about 4 weeks now, and I am still undecided if I actually like this foundation or not.

Everyone who has seen me with it on has said how natural it looks and how well it blends into my own skin. When I look in the mirror, I personally don't think it looks that great.

I use about 4 - 5 pumps of the product to get the coverage I am after. I also use a real techniques brush to apply it (I had been using the XO Beauty Flat Top brush to apply it, but found the application of the foundation took too long).

One positive I can take from this foundation is how long wearing it is. I usually do 10 hour shifts at work and when I get home I notice how much my foundation has last (this may have something to do with the fact that I use a primer and a setting powder on top of the foundation).

I got colour matched at a MAC counter but like I have said before, I am still not sure if the colour is right for me. It is a NW 40 (which is the same colour I use in the MAC studio fix), but to me it seems to be a lot lighter than the studio fix foundation in the same colour. Everyone else reckons that it matches me perfectly, but I don't know.

I am going to give the application of this another go with a real technique sponge (when I receive it). Until then, the rating is going to stay the same)!

On the advice of my friends, I purchased Pro Longwear. I have very oily skin, and had hoped this would be the answers to my prayers, but unfortunately I was let down. I find that it wears off my face within four-six hours, not the fifteen that is advertised. I've tried primed, unprimed, with and without moisturizer, I have tried everything but to no avail. I am slightly disappointed due to the price tag of the foundation, and will definitely have to reconsider whether or not I will repurchase it.

This foundation is good for people with clear skin that needs some coverage. It is not so good to put over any blemishes as it just enhances them with dry patches. The foundation does last a long time and it doesn't have any paint smell like mac studio fix. However, this foundation made me breakout really bad in random areas that I wouldn't normally. I also don't really like the look of this foundation on my face - basically it looks like you have a full face of foundation instead of naturally flawless skin. I am going to go back to my all time favorite elf x

I have used the MAC Pro Longwear Foundation for a wee while now and overall have found it to be good for popping out of the house or on the weekends, but doesn't quite cut it for a long day at work. I find the consistency of the product is a bit too thick and matte for my liking, resulting in a slightly unnatural finish. While it stays on very well throughout the day, it definitely starts to fade and look less-than-hot after maybe 5 hours of wear? I like to compare foundations to Estee Lauder Double Wear (my HG product), which lasts an easy 8-9 hours while still looking pretty much perfect. So for this reason I won't be repurchasing, but I'll happily finish the bottle I have when popping to the shops.

i was really excited to try this foundaation, this was my first mac foundation and i was rather disappointed. :( it went blotchy on my nose after 1 hour i think because of sweat but :O not very pro longwear-y imo but i think its just me!

This foundation didn't really do much for my combination skin, my nose got shiny within an hour and it want the flawless coverage i'm after. I'm sure plenty f others would love it though :)
