I am reviewing Colour 202 ‘Creamy Natural’. It is wildly difficult to pick a shade of foundation from a swatch on a computer screen, and while this was close to matching my skin-tone, the undertone of this particular shade is almost grey. I’m not sure 202 will have the right undertone for many people.
That being said – this product is very forgiving if you (like me) choose the wrong shade. This had a sheer – medium coverage for me and I choose to go for a more sheer coverage and this worked well. It had a glowy BB cream sort of finish where you could see my freckles but my redness was gone. It is easily build-able and the product did not feel oily on.
Packaging is plastic & easy to use so is a great number for the handbag/ gym bag. As others have mentioned it is a very runny consistency - but every product is different and I don't see this as an issue.
I have normal/ Combination skin that is dry in winter and can get oily in Summer, so I think this is a great foundation for winter or for those who simply prefer a dewy finish.
I would probably only use this in winter, because this trial taught me that I actually prefer a more matt look.
I was excited to be picked for this review. I had been in the market for a new foundation for a little while now but I was finding it hard to find anything better than my HG tarte water foundation.
I expect a lot from my foundations. I want them to be lightweight but buildable. I don't want them to be cakey and I want them to last. Is that so much to ask? Also I prefer a medium coverage.
For reference I have combo skin leaning more towards dry.
First up the packaging. It's a cute little squeezy tube and its actually fairly handy for travel. I'll probably take this overseas rather than my tarte since it'll travel better and I'm less afraid of this smashing everywhere.
The colour match for this was pretty good - likely one shade too light (bronzer helps) but will probably fit me perfect in the winter time.
It's a very running foundation and I went with my usual method of applying primer (Guerlains Lor) and then using my booty (heh) blender to smooth this out.
If you are expecting a full coverage foundation this is not for you. It actually says on the tube it's a medium coverage foundation and I found this light to medium. It's buildable without being cake and it did a good job of covering my pores on my cheeks. My concealer also layered on top nicely as did any powder products I applied after.
I wore this all day on Saturday from 11am all the way to 9pm. Baby shower all the way to the pride parade where I was shaking my butt off to the music and trying to get a selfie with Jacinda.
I did notice some oils creeping through particularly on my nose. While it didn't settle into any lines I felt it didn't do much to smooth them out either. Next time i'll try to add a bit of powder to these areas to see how they fair. My number one this is that is DID NOT oxidise on me which in the past i've had huge issues with loreal foundations doing that.
All in all I actually liked the foundation and will keep using it.
