Tips: I often pair with a lip liner if I want to get an intense colour or crisp like for something like a red (I love Russian red) or dark colour. For the nudes (my fave is angel) and lighter colours often I just put then straight on. Also mac lipglass look nice on top for extra shine!
Generally avoid MAC as I find it overpriced for what it is however I can't go past a mac lippy! MAC is the only lipstick I will use as I find it long lasting and love their range of shades. I don't generally suit a red lip as it is too severe on me and tried so many shades, however when I was in Sydney I had a MAC makeup artist help me find a similar colour more suited to my fair skin 'morange' is the perfect match! It is more of an orangey red and makes my brown eyes and freckles stand out in a flattering way.
I have nearly 30 mac lipsticks and keep adding to my collection! Mac has a great colour range and most importantly so many different finishes! I have incredibly dry lips and often end up with lippy in the fine lines of my lips and am also not a fan of glossy lips but the satin finish is the perfect answer! I find them hydrating and they glide right over any dry parts without highlighting them too much!
These lipsticks are so pigmented and I find they last 3-4 hours before needing to reapply, but I think this is different for everyone.
Tips: If you're unhappy with your first mac lipstick, try another finish or a lip shade with a different undertone!
I only have 2 mac lippies so far and i am in LOVE! I got them from NZ duty free for $32 each
I have Pink Pigeon and Morange. They are the most beautiful and vibrant colors i have ever seen. You get such a great and true color pay-off.
I find they last at least a couple of hours before i need to reapply which is great. They are long lasting and just great in general.
I love the packaging its simple, clean and classic.
i cant wait to buy more and grow my collection :)
This is by far the best lipstick I've used! Those colours they come in are fab and they go on so nicely. Definitely something people should try, will not regret! The only thing is how much they cost but I'd definitely say it's worth it.
So consistently good with every formula. Pigmented. Once you own one you will want more! Not to mention the classic mac lipstick scent!
Tips: Every colour will look different on your own skin tone. The ladies at MAC are more than helpful with letting you try different colours on.
MAC lipsticks are my current obsession. No joke; I've purchased 20 in the past month. I know what you're thinking - holy crap that's a LOT. And it is. I know. Thank goodness for YouShop and American prices!
Anyway I LOVE MAC lipsticks. BUT I don't love all of them! My favourites are the Amplified Creams, Cremesheens, Amplifieds, Satins and Mattes.I don't like Lustres or Frosts as I find them old fashioned and unflattering on my skin.
MAC lipsticks are creamy and pigmented and they have a very light vanilla scent to them. There are so many colours to choose from so there's something for everyone. They're also cheap when you buy from MAC USA ($16 each) - even cheaper than the drugstore lippies over here!
My favourite shades are Blankety (holy grail nude lippy for pale skin)
Rebel - The perfect berry shade for all skin tones!
Faux and Twig - Muted deep pink shades - so flattering and universal
Impassioned - The most amazing neon pink for daring ladies!
All in all I love the majority of MAC lippies. If you can I would recommend heading to a MAC counter and having a play with them to find out which formulas and finishes you like, the girls at MAC are lovely and you can play to your hearts content!
I am truely in love with MAC, but their lipsticks take the cake. I have brought four in the last 12 months (I don't have a MAC store very close) and love all of them. My first was Impassioned, a bright hot pink. Im not a huge pink person but I saw this colour and fell in love. It's the perfect choice for a fun bold lip. Next I brought Up the Amp and Vegas Volt. Both very different and colours I had never looked at wearing. With my skin tone I can only wear Up the Amp in summer, but Vegas Volt is perfect year round. My final shade was Chatterbox. This is the perfect everyday pink for me. I had heard a lot of people rave about it and finally tried it. I wear it everyday, it goes with everything. These colours last for a long time. I've had Impassioned for 12 months and its still half full. I dont think I will stop buying MAC for a long time.
Tips: Try a two toned lip by using similar shades in the same finish. I've done this with Up the Amp on my top lip and Impassioned on my bottom lip. Its subtle but different, which I love.
I have used few of these lipsticks and they are to die for. Disappointed they test on animals so won't be buying any anymore. Broke the bank when I was going crazy on MAC lippys. I will use what I have left and hopefully in the future they will be cruelty free so I can purchase from them again :) My favourite shade is a pink they make called 'Candy yum yum'.
My first ever MAC product and lipstick is a major let down for me. I have Runway Hit A53 in matte finish and I do not like it. I like the packaging as it is super sleek, simple and elegant, however, when it comes to the actual lipstick I'm quite disappointed. Firstly, I've always wanted a matte finish, but I find that this is just so drying! Even though my lips will be soft and supple after wearing lip balm to sleep, this lipstick just dries out my lips in about 20 minutes. Also, I picked up this colour as I had swatched it on my hand and really liked it, but it just doesn't look good on my lips. The matte finish is definitely long-lasting though, and does not transfer easily. It lasts through hours of wear, but I just can't stand the dryness of it. I do like the vanilla scent though, but depending on my mood, it can be quite overwhelming. I feel that overall, MAC lipsticks are quite overhyped, though I'm not sure if that's just due to my first one being such a let down.
I would be keen in trying other finishes and shades, though for $40 per lipstick, I feel that I'd try some cheaper brands first because I just can't afford that on my student budget.
