Smells amaaaaaaaaazing!!!!!

This stuff comes in a huge pot in the signature Soap and Glory branding and it smells A-maaaaaazing!!!! The maple scent makes this good enough to eat, without being too overpowering. Other edible ingredients include sugar, making it dissolve easily without a mess in this shower. It also contains salt which I usually find irritating in scrubs but I was absolutely fine with this one. This feels quite a gentle scrub but it still leaves my skin silky smooth afterwards. I don't need to apply body lotion after this. I just use this once a week so the tub as lasted me ages. Great value and great smelling, I will definitely be buying this again!

I've not tried Rich and Foamous so I'm not sure - I guess I'm going to have to try that too lol. Main scent I get from this scrub is maple. It's delicious!

Ooh I was gonna buy a big Flake Away but maybe I need this lol. Same scent as ‘Rich and Foamous’? I LOVE that scent

Surprising Layer

I received this in the recent Beauty Vault and was super excited to use it. First impressions were of the scent. Overpowering. I wasn't sure about using it after the smell but did find that while using in the shower, the smell became more suttle. It also lingered on the skin after showering which I found relaxing to go to bed to.

I saw the lavender decal on the front of the soap and automatically associated it with older women. However. this soap was designed for mum's so that might explain it. The decal was gone after the first wash which I found disappointing. There was a surprising gold glitter layer throughout the rest of the soap. I don't think it served a purpose other than to look pretty. And look pretty it did.

I didn't know that you could stand this soap up so have just been lying it flat like all other soaps. In saying that, I doubt it would have stood up for very long. I started using the soap on Monday and it will be finished when I use it tomorrow.

I found this soap to be highly moisturising with no need to moisturise after the shower which is super handy now that we are getting into colder weather.

For the price and duration of the product, I won't be purchasing. I just don't think it's worth it.

I have tried only one other Lush soap and it lasted me atleast a month(using it as a body wash). It was very unexpected that this soap would only last 6 uses.

That's a shame, that soap smells divine and is the only thing in the Lush Mother's Day collection that appealed to me. I use Lush soaps for washing my hands instread of liquid soap and they usually last for months.

Thanks @MareeB!

Great review Tabucutie. The soap certainly looks very pretty :)

Lush Lava Lamp Review

Omg. The. Mess!

I ordered a couple of these from the Lush UK site before they were available here. These make a great refreshing bath on a lazy Sunday morning. The citrus colors and scent make it feel like you a bathing in a giant tub of Fanta. It still puts on a good show - when the purple bath melts are released, it really does look like a lava lamp.

This makes your skin feel incredibly soft afterwards without the need for moisturiser. But OMG. The. Mess! Even cleaning the bath afterwards could not get rid of all of the purple that clung to the bath - some of it for weeks afterwards. I won't be buying this again as Lush have now discontinued it. I suspect this is due to the mess it leaves behind.

Maybe they've reformulated it so it's not so messy.

Looks like they have just brought it back, my Mum grabbed me on this week, but im sort of afraid to use it now haha

Skinfood Gel Cleanser Review

Good but wasteful

A full size, 100ml tube of Skinfood Gel Cleanser was the Day 21 gift in a 2017 beauty Advent Calendar.

Made in New Zealand with bio-active ingredients, including guava, mango, papaya and cucumber extract, this gel cleanser promises to naturally cleanse and soothe the face, leaving skin fresh and soft.

So, does it live up to its promises? Well, I found this gel cleanser to be really gentle, yet quite effective, even on oily skin. It doesn't foam up like a foaming cleanser, but it does produce a tiny bit of lather when a little water is added and it rinses away cleanly, leaving no residue. As with most of Skinfood's products, it smells delicious!

I only have one problem with this product, and that is with the packaging. The gel has a very liquid consistency, so when the flip top tube is opened and upended to squeeze a little out, it's really hard to control how much product comes out. The gel literally just runs out on its own without the tube even being squeezed. A pump-style bottle (or even the same tube with a pump nozzle) would be a lot easier to use and much more economical, as I find I wasted a lot of product while it was in the original Skinfood packaging.

To sum it up, I do like this cleanser and would consider repurchasing it, but only of the packaging is changed.

Tips: I ended up decanting this into an empty travel-sized pump bottle that I had. It reduced waste and made it so much easier to use in the shower.

Either would be good; thicker consistency or different packaging

... if they change the packaging at all in the near future.

Even if the formula was thicker,so it doesn't run out of the tube, that would help. Their other cleanser is thicker and I had no problems with that.

Thanks, ladies. Lol, Maree, no worries. I often get weird autocorrects for my BR username, although I haven’t seen that one before. I’ve submitted a similar review with packaging suggestions to Skinfood, we’ll have to wait and see if they chang

Yes I agree about the packaging. I ended up wasted so much product because of it.

Sorry "Silvene", I saw it just as I clicked 'post reply'!

Great review Sileven. It's one of the only two Skinfood products I haven't tried and I wondered what it was like. Good feedback about the packaging.

Almost but not quiet.

I was fortunate enough to receive this as a part of the beauty review trial team and chose the colour "Lover" a rosy, dusky pink.

I really like the packaging of this product. It comes in a large tube (5mls!!) that is quiet solid and heavy. It comes with a doe foot applicator which is quiet round but goes to a fine point which is great at precisely applying the product.

The product itself is quiet runny and very pigmented. One dip into the tube is enough to cover both lips. And although the product is thin, it isn't streaky at all. This product really does last all day. I applied it at 6:30 am and it last me through a whole work day, right up until I take my make up off at night. It isn't completely transfer proof, it will fade throughout the day but it does fade quiet naturally.

Sounds like the perfect lip product product? well not quiet. This product has a really strong fake vanilla scent (kinda smells like the outside of a Peter Alexander store) and you do get whiffs of it throughout the day. Whilst I like vanilla, I don't like the scent of this, its very strong and artificial. I also found that this product does not dry down completely, but stays a little tacky. Its not tacky/sticky like a lip gloss, more like when a liquid lipstick isn't quiet dry. I found my lips stuck together a bit. This product whilst tacky, was also quiet drying on my lips. Although it didn't appear crusty, it did dry my lips out and make them feel crusty. Its a rather bizarre feeling when you're lips are sticking together but also crusty at the same time. Because of this, and the super strong scent I found it unpleasant to wear.

I won't continue to use this product now that the trial is over, I would still recommend them to people to try if you are looking for a long lasting lip product. However if you don't like scents or your lip product to be tacky you won't like this product.

Tips: Wear a lip balm underneath to prevent it from drying out your lips

Hi, I found it really helpful to blot on a tissue like you would normal lipstick.. That takes away any stickiness and kind of sets it too! :)

Yes, it smells like a Peterson Alexander store to me too!

Whoa - this is aMAYzing

A-May(belline)- zing, even.

I'm a sucker for lipstick, esp bright lipstick - and pink is my fave! So (although I was tempted by, and may eventually cave and buy the purple 'Creator' shade) I opted for Romantic - a glorious hot pink that's ever so slightly more muted on the lips than in the case.

The case is plastic and square - not the most expensive looking lipstick in my collection, but has a certain funky appeal nonetheless, and is sturdy. I'd have no worries about throwing this in my bag, no matter where my day took me; I can't see this cap popping off by accident.

The tube is long, as is the wand, which features an elongated pointed teardrop shaped applicator with an oval shaped hole in the centre. This applicator is life. It's so precise and so easy to use - I LOVE it. It needs to be scraped off against the tube a little as it carries so much product.

The actual lipstick is thick, with a sweet (but not sickly) scent I really like. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly - smells like a candle but i'm not sure which one! Definitely a sweet fruit with an edge of something else to stop it being cloying.

As I mentioned, application is easy - and made easier by the fact that one layer is enough. I've gone two and it's popped more, and I've gone one-then-blot which is a more delicate stain. Because it's thicker it doesn't bleed - but if you get your lipline wrong clean it FAST because it'll stain your skin a little.

BUT... is it SuperStay? Like all lipsticks it's going to wear, but it passed (and easily) drink and food tests (as long as it was drier food) - and I spent hours at a festival yesterday in 27 degree sunshine eating and drinking and only needed to reapply once, which is pretty amazing. Even when you need to reapply there's still a definite stain there.

The matte finish is subtle, it's not a full super dry matte - and in fact my lips seem to stay ever so slightly tacky for a long time after application, it doesn't dry particularly quickly. This does allow it to move with your lips and avoid cracking, which is nice.

On the whole, for the price point, this is a very good option for those who like subtle matte, bright colours, and products you can apply and forget - and I'll be looking at other shades!

Tips: scrape the wand, apply to dry lips and go! As easy as that.

Feels nice but way too expensive to buy again

I got this little oil in my best ever beauty box. I have super dry skin and beauty oils are pretty much my best friends. I've been using an oil on my face for the last couple of years and have seen such great improvements to my super dry areas. I was very excited to try this one out, I've never tried an oil this expensive before so I thought it must be amazing!

This comes in a little green glass bottle with a dropper. Droppers are the best way to get the right amount of oil out. This oil is a beautiful golden amber colour and has a very strong, herbal scent. It took me a while to place it but it reminds me of fresh parsley. I personally don't mind this scent at all but it is quite strong when you first apply. I don't notice it for too long after I apply it. I like to use 5 drops, I find this does my face and neck quite nicely. Although this feels quite rich going on, it actually absorbs into my skin very quickly which I quite like. It really doesn't feel like it will when you first apply it so it did surprise me when I first tried it.

Ultimately, the price factor really comes into play when I think about whether I want to buy this. I like it but I don't know if it's really doing anything different to my oils I purchase for $20 and are 3 times the size. If it was in some kind of pack, I might consider buying that or I'd definitely be happy to get it in another box.

I agree. I didn't see/feel much difference between this and cheaper oils.

Nice enough, but seems unnecessary

I thankfully did not pay for this, and got it gifted with an Elizabeth Arden auction I won. It is very nice. the packaging is great, it smells wonderful and absorbs easily into the skin. Frankly I do not get it. I don't understand this extra step in the skincare routine and I felt like I was spending forever in the bathroom with all my lotions and potions. I think it did help even out my skin tone, and I do have fairly sensitive skin and this didn't cause any problems at all for me. The reason I have given this such a low review is the price point on this product and the fact that it is an extra step that seems unnecessary to me.

Yeah I just don't get it this product either.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Review

Soap and Glorious

This body butter has been a favourite amongst the forum beauties. I hummed and harred over it the last time I saw it in Postie (I have a lot of panning I still need to do!) and then of course, it sold out. When I saw it in a gift pack at a big bucket sale, I finally gave in.

I've always admired Soap and Glory's cute vintage style packaging whenever I've seen it on sale overseas. It's comes in a particular pleasing shade of pink! The 50ml plastic tub is easy to open. The first thing that hits you when opening it is the glorious smell. I'm terrible at describing smells so the best I can come up with is that "it smells like expensive perfume". It is quite strong though and I like my body lotions/butters to be in the same scent family as my perfumes. So I find this quite hard to team with a perfume without it completing so tend to use it alone.

Despite being a thick butter, it absorbs almost instantly leaving beautifully soft, silky skin. It appears to have a slight luminosity to it, making the skin look instantly better. And a little goes a long way. I can see myself buying more of this now that it's a bit easier to come by, with Mecca Maxima opening soon in Wellington (just take all my money now....)

Tips: Not just for very dry skin. Even 'normal' skin will love this.

Lush Scrubee Review

Holy Grail Shower/Massage Combo

When everyone was raving about Scrubee I was like 'It looks cute' but was put off by the scent as quite a few described the scent as being similar to Pot of Gold I think it was. I can't stand that smell but it was super cute and wanted to try it anyway (such a sucker for Lush and cute things).

When it arrived, I was actually a bit disappointed as it wasn't as big as the picture looked, so not a great start.

But wow, the smell is sooooo good. I can't really explain the scent, but I think you can smell a hint of honey along with cocoa butter. You can't really smell the almonds until you get down to the scrubby exfoliation part when the heat releases the scent. If you like Gold Fun, then you will love this as it is more similar to that than Pot Of Gold which actually makes me feel sick whenever I smell it. I also love the fact that you can still smell it on your skin for ages afterwards, even into the next day.

I was going to use it as a massage bar as that is what I thought it was (thats what happens when you don't read the instructions properly lol) however was told you use it in the shower. I was like WHAT?? lol

The shape is genious because it is actually quite easy to hold and apply. You get in the shower, and apply hot water to your skin before applying the Scrubee. I applied it in circular movements all over my body and my skin felt amazing, and left me feeling not only super hydrated but extremely relaxed.

The downside to Scrubee is that it doesn't last that long. If using all over your body, you will get about 2 uses, 3 if you are lucky. Or you can choose to target certain parts of your body like legs or arms, whichever you want to use it on which will make it last a lot longer.

The price tag is a bit high for such a small product but the after feeling is so worth it.

Tips: Before using Scrubee, if you have it, use Lush Twilight Shower Gel for an even more relaxing experience and do this before you go to bed. You have the most amazing sleep xx

Was this review useful to you? Yes No

wow only 3 uses for you? I've used mine at least 4 times now and I still have half left lmao

He he he I love it so much. I have 3 on the way to me and a friend just picked me up another 2 - oops major obsessed lol. I just wish it was bigger and not as pricey. But its definitely one that will never go to waste :-)

I bought three when it first came out but actually it's not my favourite. I find it too scratchy so will go back to Buffy once I've used them all.

The price tag is high. I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a small bar that might not last long. It smells wonderful and I can see they hype with it. I'm tempted to try it once my current scrubs have been panned.

He he he I've just become recently obsessed with it and had it fresh in my mind when I wrote the review lol. I've just used up my second, have 3 more on the way and going to order another couple. I'm obsessed with Scrubee lmao.

I need to review it too but it takes me forever to get around to review. So I thought you'd beat me to it lol.

Ha ha ha what can I say, I'm addicted lol

How did I guess you would be the first person to review this!
