Lashes, I love you.

I had been dying for a trial, and then this one popped up. I had a good feeling in my gut, and then the day came and the BR goddesses shined their beauty light on me. Pretty sure I was writing messages in caps lock for the next hour I was so elated. It arrived 2 days after I confirmed my place on the team, and I cracked into it straight after my shower. The instructions say I can use it once or twice a day, so I decided to use it once, and then twice, and then once each day for 6 weeks.

My first impression was holy biscuits batman look at that box! And then... Man I hope there are more instructions! I opened the box with my metal nail file as my nails were not behaving, and inside was a snug silver tube wrapped in the instructions like a lil silver piggy in a blanket.

The tube is similar to the box with the patterns, only the tube is silver and black and the box is white and grey, and I really like the look of it. I didn't open it until I used it, and was very surprised to see a bright orange brush, similar to an eyeliner pen but more flimsy. Looking at the brush, I was like... is there any product even on this!? But upon brushing it gently at the roots of my lashes, I could see and feel the clear serum going on.

As I don't really need help with my brows I haven't used the product on them. My lashes are what needed the most lovin' so I got right into it. First application and it sounds ridiculous but I FELT it working. I knew it was working. They were longer that very day! (Not really but it felt like it). Every Saturday for the past 6 weeks I have taken photos of my lashes and I can see improvement in length, but not in density. In fact, I'm quite sure my lashes thinned out. That's fine by me, if they keep up the length!

Looking at the photos I can't see much of a difference, personally, but I've been told there is one. I know it's worked though, as I can put on mascara and you can actually tell I have eyelashes now. But did it work? Yes! I can visibly see that my lashes are slightly longer, definitely at the edges. Would I splurge and buy this myself? Maybe not this brand again, as I would like to check out my options.

I will continue to use this daily, rather than every few days as the instructions say, because it's part of my routine now and I like watching my lashes grow! Thank you for the opportunity BR :-)

Fantastic Natural Product

I have used this product and it's great. I have met the people who make it at the big little market in Tauranga and they are passionate about making a quality natural product with no chemicals? Those with really really sensitive skin they have made a underarm with a lower dose of something in it ( can't remember the ingredient) if the normal one causes any issues. The lemon balm has a pleasant lemony natural smell not a" pretty" smell like your chemical deodorants. They also have vanilla which is sweeter and Bergamot

Tips: You only need a small bit! So it lasts ages

that's alright kim, another review has been added and it has more information :-)

Thanks for your questions Shaz, I was wondering about the application

Its in a jar and you use your finger to scoop out a small bit and then rub it under your arm. Its like a thick paste not runny or gooey, not sure how it works but it does - no smell after a walk around the mount! Lasts all day.

how does it work/how do you apply it? how long does it last? what is the consistency of the product? im sorry but i dont find your review very helpful.

Makes eyeshadow easier

My first eyeshadow primer, I was ready for the next level in eye makeup and a primer was on the list as I'm sure there had to be an easier way to get the stronger pigment out of an eyeshadow, I'm sure my eyelids just sucked the eyeshadow in. A wee plastic tube with a screw top lid and a wand applicator nothing mind blowing to look at. So poised with a small amount on the wand and eye one shut I stick a little bit of this creamy thick light pale oat coloured primer on and it looks ok at this stage I'm thinking $ argh rip off. Then I apply my eyeshadow and the colours off my shadow are more intense and the go on easily and I don't have to spend forever building the colour up. End of day my eyeshadow is still put, not any extra in my eye crease and the colour is still as intense. This is easily enough to remove with my eye makeup and no drying out of my eye lids. This has a light sheen to it and is soft on my skin, as it's only going on my eyelids wow this is going to last me. And just on its own just adds that nice wee finish on my eyelids sometimes they look a bit pink in the crease (tired eyes) and this hides that. I've used other brands of eyeshadow over this and I get the same effect. I'm sold on this eyelid primer and I never thought of it as a necessity, but to get some depth in my eyeshadow colour and my eyeshadow easier to apply yes it's a good buy for sure and I only casually brought it as I was getting some eyeshadow. If I do make a we mistake it is a bit of a mission to try and take my eyeshadow off and redo without removing the whole lot, so it does really make it stick. It will last and it's definitely worth adding to my makeup routine.

Not Too Shabby!

So, I was lucky enough to be selected to trial this product. At first I was a little wary, and more than a little cynical, but it more than delivered! After a month straight of using Rapidlash, I can happily say that my lashes are longer, and appear thicker and darker! I've even been asked if I was wearing falsies! As someone who has always had very short, sparse lashes, that was the ultimate compliment I could receive! I also used Rapidlash on my brows, as it says you can, and the gaps I had have definitely filled in a bit! The 3ml tube has lasted me a month and though it's hard to tell, I think it will last at least another 2 weeks, if not longer. It says it should last 1-2 months, so that's good, AND I used it for my brows too.

I only applied as directed, once a day, just before I went to bed. The applicator is just a small brush, and I often found myself wiggling it around to make sure I got enough product on it, which is far better than getting too much, as otherwise it may make its way into your eye! The applicator is just a small brush, so it's really really easy to use and only takes a second, which is great for the end of a long day! Within as little as 2 weeks I saw a difference, and at 3 weeks close family saw a difference too. At a full month I got a few comments from friends! At $50 it's definitely one of the cheaper lash serums available, and it definitely does what it says! I'll be interested to see what my lashes and brows look like after another month or so. Will I buy it again? Possibly, I am on a student budget, and I want to see if there are any adverse effects when I stop using it first.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product, however if you have sensitive skin I would be very cautious about using it, as it is close to your eyes and you don't want any bad effects happening there!

Tips: Make sure all your makeup is off before you use it. I was super worried about getting it in my eye, and not being able to tell that I had, but it's really not a problem! It tingles a bit if you do get it in your eye, but just rinse your eye with some water and you'll be fine. To avoid getting it in your eye, just make sure you apply it at the base of your lashes (just above the lashes), and I found it best to air dry it by fanning my eye with my hand. Do it one eye at a time and you'll be fine! Also, you only have to use the product once a day, you won't get better/faster results by using it more often.

From memory, yes Natasha, though it was quite a while ago now so I'm not 100% sure! Sorry! I never got around to buying another one so I stopped using it once it ran out, which wasn't long after I posted this.

Did you see a difference in your brows after a while?

This is a really thorough review, thanks

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer

I was very grateful when a lovey BR beauty gave me one of these as I love trying out new products.

They come in a small tube with an elegant looking lid and writing.

I have the purple (anti aging) primer. The consistency is thin but not too runny and a shade of medium brown. I personally feel that there is no scent.

To use I simply dab a very small amount onto my eyelids and gently rub across and let dry which is a matter of seconds, then I apply my eyeshadows like normal.

I have found that my eyeshadow last all day long and into the evening which is great but I also personally feel like there is no huge difference between this primer and one of my cheaper primers as they both do the same job in keeping my eyeshadow in place.

I would recommend this primer but I won't be purchasing it for the reason above, my cheaper primer does the same trick ;-) but I have nothing negative to say about this product though.

it really is great and the small tube will last a long time

I have just started using eye primers, this is on my must try list.

Lush Cup O Coffee Fresh Face Mask Review

Fresh Coffee hit

After seeing the beautiful Kim Rose wearing this mask I decided to get myself a sample of this coffee mask from Lush. I was heading in there to get my mothers day packs that I had been watching online. I haven't tried a coffee mask before only scrubs so I was very excited because I love coffee scents.

My sample came in a clear tub. I don't really like these because they don't feel secure to travel with. I prefer the little black tubs because they close firmly. The consistency of this mask is slightly runny with coffee grains running through. As soon as I started smothering this across my face I can instantly smell this fresh coffee hit. To me its like a freshly brewed cup of black coffee. That scent smells wonderful to me. But my kids didn't like it at all.

I found this mask easy to spread out across my face. It can be a little bit messy with wash off as there are coffee grains present in this mask. After using this mask my skin feels clean and hydrated. I can see a slight glow in my skin tone. Out of one sample so far I have managed to get two applications. My guess is that I have about another two to three applications remaining. I thought this mask was lovely to try. I would definitely purchase a full size version of this mask.

These are amazing and so easy to use

After several reviews on youtube channels of the virtue of these sheet masks I searched high and low for them, finding them in The Warehouse I grabbed a box and must remember to go get another one soon!

Side note: my skin type is combination with slight on set of aging, tiny lines.

I thought that the value of money for a box of 5 sheets for under $25 was pretty good, especially here in NZ where it is normally overpriced. Each sheet mask is individually wrapped so you can easily chuck one in an overnight bag should you be travelling. Popping on one during a flight would be amazing to keep tired, overly dried skin at bay, relaxing too!

These masks are designed I am sure to make you look like a serial killer as you wear them. However, the cuts in the mask allow you to smooth it over the curve of your face and tuck in the edges, poking your nose out of the pre cut area and pull around the eye area. For me the mouth area fell over my chin as I have a small round head and these are designed to be a one size fit all product, but that is alright, I was able to make it work.

Backing the sheet mask is a really slippery serum that if you don't lie back will see the mask slip right off your face so you are forced to lie back and relax as it goes to work, if you want to keep doing something whilst the mask works then a sheet mask isn't for you. The instructions say leave on for up to 10 minutes, well I always get comfortable and either engrossed on catching up with social media or fall into a cat nap so it stays on longer, which isn't bad as it isn't a wash off type. Once you have had enough of the mask, simply remove it and throw away, there is a serum type moisture to your face that you need to just massage into your skin.

The following day wake up to wonderfully clear, clean and super plump hydrated skin that has a brightened, youthful appearance, even helps on those little lines around the eyes. This is a product I can see myself using for a while. I currently use 1 mask a week, although during that time of the month I did use it twice a week.

Just got some of these today- and then I check reviews! Really need to reverse that! Glad I won't be disappointed!!

I have put this on my wish list.

great review, I've never seen these masks before so I'll have to keep an eye out at the warehouse.

NYX Professional Makeup Matte Lipstick Review

Great range of colours

NYX’s matte lipsticks are one of my favourites. The packaging is not the most exciting compared to the coloured cases for NYX’s butter glosses and lipsticks, but the range of colours seems to make up for this! It comes in a matte black case where the middle is see-through to allow you to see the shade which in most cases is true to pan but I do find the pinks are slightly off.

My favourite shade is Strawberry Daquiri. In the tube it comes across as more of a strawberry pink but on my lips it’s a brown based coral pink which I really love. In general, the texture is surprisingly smooth so there is no tugging on the lips and you get a lovely even application. The pigmentation is vibrant so you would have to use a light hand if you wanted a more subtle coat of colour (though personally you’re better off with a butter lipstick in this case).

The lipstick doesn’t dry down to a typical matte finish, it has a slight sheen to it so I just blot it with a tissue. I don’t notice the product feathering too much because it does sit well on the lips. Without blotting, the lipstick lasts about 3 hours before it begins to fade. I can extend the wear time to 4 hours with blotting before fading and leaving a stain behind.

The lipsticks aren’t particularly drying however the more retouches I do during the day, my lips do become dry and usually I have to stop and put on lip balm – boring. I would recommend these lipsticks because they’re great dupes for high end lipsticks, they feel good on the lips and they last a decent amount of time (with blotting).

Thankfully Farmers stocks the brand so there’s no mistaking what the colour will look like against your skin but the majority of mine were bought prior to this through Makeup NZ and abroad. Unfortunately some shades are still not available in New Zealand but I’m sure you can find a shade that you’ll still love.

Fantastic pigmentation and lasting power

Ahhhh the velvetines - I can still remember the hype around these beautiful frosted tubes of colour with the fuchsia pink lid covered in hot pink roses. I really enjoy the shades and I've worn them several times whether it's to the office or a night out. Admittedly I have the more "tame" shades (in comparison to all the other crazy shades in the range) but they're still quite bold.

Red Velvet - a gorgeous blood red

Pink Velvet - a vibrant hot pink

Suede Berry - a coral based strawberry

Wicked - a dirty sangria

There's no room for sheer application with this lot, the opacity of the colours are just incredible - a swipe or two is all you need. One of the things I love about this product is that they don't take long to set so even if I'm in a rush I can quickly put it on knowing it will stay in place.

I love that they don't bleed or feather so I can skip the lip liner if I wanted to. They have fantastic lasting power, I remember the first time I wore it to work I kept checking my mirror to see if I needed to retouch and I did - AFTER 7 hours of wear! The colour stays vibrant for those 7 hours; so it's merely just fading around the edges but nothing blatantly obvious.

This product would have received top marks if it wasn't for the drying aspect. On the first day; there's probably just a bit of dryness on the lips but nothing that a lip conditioner can't fix. However what I noticed is that with consecutive days of use it actually just gets worse despite my best efforts to keep the dryness at bay.

If I know I'm going to wear this product or any drying lip product I always prep my lips the night before by using a lip exfoliator and lip conditioner and I repeat the process after I've removed the velvetine. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely I've gifted these to friends who love it just as much as I do.

My favourite is definitely Red Velvet. Lime Crime products used to be available in NZ however that changed not too long ago and you can only source it officially from the Lime Crime website.

Tips: Exfoliate lips and use lip conditioner before and after use of velvetine.

This is the kind of wave I like to ride!

This palette holds a very special place in my makeup collection, as a dear friend gifted it to me AND it was the very first palette I ever owned! I have no idea how I lived my life purely using single eyeshadows? I guess the same way that I used to live without primer - eek!

The packaging is a stunning, sturdy gold case with a gigantic mirror so is perfect for travel. The double ended brush it comes with is surprisingly good, so again, great for travel as you can just use the brush it comes with (which is almost never the case!).

The shadows themselves are gorgeous! Amazing colour selection and every single colour has crazy pigmentation going on. A couple of the shades are a bit powdery, but that's quite common these days with uber pigmented shadows.

I do wish there was a neutral, all over base colour in the palette, as I have to take that separately when travelling, but other than that I love it! If you can still get your hands on it then I would highly recommend to anyone that's after a good quality, neutral, with a pop of colour palette :)

Tips: Use the shadows wet to intensify the colour, for an even more dramatic look.
