My fiance is snoring... Seriously. Been trying and failing to sleep since 1030, all because of snoring. And then every so often he scream snores and scares the bejesus out of me. It's not an actual scream it's just an incredibly loud snore that sounds like a scream. I don't wanna put in my ear plugs but otherwise I don't see myself getting any aleep and instead I'll become a crying mess on the floor. Sigh. How do you ladies deal with it??

Oh I feel for you! Thankfully if my hubby is snoring it's because he's lying on his back, so I punch him (lol I'm not nice when kept awake) and tell him to roll on his side and he shuts up.

I was going to say the same thing, A convenient yawn/ elbow/whoops/ribcage/yawn makes a back sleeper turn over to thier side, if that fails hold thier nose so they wake up LOL and say stop SNORING I cant sleep hahahahahahahah. They might need a sinus cleanse/ aid

Omg Ngahew I was just talking to my 9 year old today about the fact that our cat purrs louder than any cat I've ever known before - she's at the end of our bed making the noise of a tractor

Farmers wife it sounds like mine is trying to swallow his tongue. Arrrrrrrggggghhh. I've tried elbows and hitting and suffocating him and whispering angrily at him to roll the eff over. He responds to whispers but not regular talking. Nothing works. Snore snore snore. This woman is gunna go mad. So mad im thinking of getting up and doing the friggin housework!

My partner snores but not in a loud kind of way. Its kinda like a soft snore. Crazy as it sounds but it helps me go to sleep lol Unfortunately I don't have a solution lol. At the marae its like a snore symphony lol my partner says to me how the heck do u sleep through that! I dunno I just do !

Definitely try to roll him on his side. My partner snores quite badly too. So I usually try to go to bed before him so I can get a head start. But sometimes I get that frustrated that I wake him up because I don't find it fair.

I love my hubby but I do hate his snoring, its like sleeping with a freight train in the room.   I found that the simple act of lying the other way, with my head at the foot of the bed so that I am not at ear level with the snoring helps.  I like to think that I am out of the sonic range lol but slighty nudging sometimes works but he'll roll back into that position that will start him snoring again.    I feel your pain, there has been times when I have dragged the duvet out into the lounge and slept on the sofa but luckily its only once or twice a month that he gets so bad to wake me up.   Hope you find a method soon =)

Macs.   Not crazy I'm the same unless he really winds up and sounds like a Boeing 747 taking off, I also relax to the gentle sound of him purring away I find it puts me to sleep.

Ahh ladies your replies have made my morning. I read them all again and giggled to myself :-)

Farmers Wife, I'm in Taranaki, so even if I wanted to help you with your housework (I would in a heartbeat) I think you're down south? I don't know why I think that, but it's a bit of a distance to drive! :-P

Hahahah Macs, when I was at intermediate we slept over at the Marae and one of the girls next to me was snoring and kept us awake cos we were giggling at her. The teachers tried to roll her over but she would roll back and start again hahaha. Luckily there were no symphonies when I stayed but I can imagine!

Accident Prone, I try get him on his side (still snores on his side though). I have hammered the hell out of his arm and he sleeps like hes dead (does sound like he's trying to swallow his tounge so maybe he is bahahaha). But I'm with you when you say its not fair. Sure I don't have to get up at 530 for work but it's not fair that one of us gets a decent sleep and the other is on the verge of a mental breakdown! The only time I get a headstart is the weekends - he stays up super late playing PS4 and I go to bed and fall asleep watching a Disney movie hehehe :P

Chikoboo I think if I slept the opposite way I'd get one of his mangly claws in my eye and I don't want that cos they're razor sharp, he scratches me in his sleep with them. I think if I also moved rooms he would wake me up when he got up and be all "why the hell are you in here and not in bed" or something similar.

I'm glad I'm not alone haha

Thankfully my partner doesnt snore every night but if hes come off night shifts or is really overtired he does (or any form of drinking !) then because once I wake I will never get back to sleep I will just go to our spare room I love the bed in there so I can get some peace and quiet :)

Disclaimer - I got rid of my snorer (for other reasons tho), but snoring is not healthy, it is an indicator of health issues for the snorer and if it's excessive, then the partner suffers too from constantly disrupted sleep.
Ask your partner to schedule a doctor's appointment and ask for an assessment. It could be something as simple as your partner needing to lose weight, or refrain from consuming alcohol in the evenings. But it could be that there is an underlying issue that needs attention. There are lots of solutions and remedies that would give both partners more restful sleep and make for greater functionality the next day.

I agree with janini9, snoring can sometimes (and that's sometimes, not trying to say that it is!) be an indicator of other issues and is something worth getting checked out by a medical professional if it is a nightly thing as it can be an indicator of sleep apnoea. Baring in mind I'm not a doctor :) But I work in healthcare and think vigilance with your health is important!

It's not every night thank god. I think I'd go insane if it was, especially as bad as it was. I didn't end up going to sleep until well after 1am, and even then I woke up at 530 when the alarm went off. It was strange for him to snore on a Sunday night, usually he is relaxed and I don't hear a peep out of him, and as he didn't do anything on Sunday except play PS4 I'm amazed he snored like he worked a 12 hour day!

I'm lucky as hubby only snores when he's had a few and then I need to go and sleep on the couch lol.  Sometimes if he's sick, I will nudge him and say you're snoring and he'll be like no I'm not and then roll over and go back to sleep he he he x

I agree with some of the ladies. Snoring can be caused by health issues as my 8 year old has been snoring for a while now and also suffers from blocked noses. I thought this isn't normal so we went to see the ear/nose/throat specialist at the hospital 2weeks ago and it turns out that she needs to have surgery to remove the adenoids which have enlarged which are blocking the nasal passage.

Sorry, yes snoring can be linked to health issues so if this is an on-going issue he might be best to go see a Dr.  I have a friend who is in his 50s and snores like a Metal Mulisha band playing... he was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. It is treatable and his wife is now happy she can get some peaceful sleep.

I hope you manage a good nights sleep tonight
