Used to love this but microbeads

I was a firm fan of this apricot scrub for gently exfoilating my skin whilst remaining enough hydration to keep it looking smooth and supple. But of recent months it has become very evident that St Ives is one of the world's leader contributor of plastic microbeads in their products so I know no longer support their brand which is a little bit of a shame as I did get amazing results from this scrub but wouldn't want to cause such pollution to our seas for the sake of good skin

Tried and True

Apricot scrub is one of those products that never really goes away.

Its a great price, especially on sale and leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth.

I have dry and sensitive skin and this still does a great job and does not dry it out further like most products do.

Tips: Use this sparingly as a little goes a long way

Quite scrubby

My skin responds well to vigorous exfoliation so I really like this product. It's creamy and easy to use and the scrubby bits are abrasive enough to exoliate well but not too abrasive to irritate my skin, although those with more sensitive skin might have a different result.

Oldie but goody; this is a classic...

I've been using this effective and lovely smelling scrub off and on over fifteen years. I come back to it because it does what it says it will. It's creamy, thick, and very granular/ grainy. These qualities are good because it means a small amount will exfoliate your whole face while moisturizing. It rinses clean and makes your skin feel as smooth as baby's bottom. Really! Your skin will feel petal soft in less than 2 minutes. This doesn't break out my combination skin. It's a great buy. I usually find it under $3, and a bottle lasts me at least 6 months.

Tips: Use every other day for a week, initially, if you never exfoliate. Then, twice a week from then on for maintenance. Use a good serum and moisturizer after when skin is slightly damp for extra softness and anti-aging prevention.

Bad bad apricot scrub

This product I find not good for anyone's skin. It's pretty harsh ( grainy ) exfoliant inside the actual bottle peels of your skin which will then open up the pores to let dirt in. It's better to use a not so coarse exfoliant and only a light grain exfoliant as it will be better for your skin. And do not exfoliant everyday - maybe once or twice a week.

Tips: Buy a lighter exfoliant as this one is too coarse to anyone's skin

St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub

I have used St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub for years. It has been a staple in my beauty care routine. However now that I have tried other scrubs I just can't get excited about this. This scrub has microbeads which are bad for our sea. It's just way too rough on the delicate skin and also I do not have sensitive skin at all but this will break me out and cause dry painful rashes on my face if I use it too regularly. St Ives also test on animals which ethically I do not agree with.

I wish this worked for me because it is so easy to find and buy but unfortunately I'm just not a big fan..

Average

This is just a classic facial scrub, but it's so average and not worth the hype. I find that it doesn't always get all the dry skin off of my face despite my constant attempts.

Good price point but wish it worked better.

It's Okay

I'm surprised by the hype around this product as I personally don't find it to be amazing, however it is a really nice product at an affordable price.

The product contains crushed up apricot shell to buff away dead skin on the face, which it does, but I find it too harsh to use particularly often as the sharper bits in the product can irritate my skin. It also hurts like hell to get into your eyes.

It does smell nice, and it's great for removing heavy foundation before using a lighter face wash. I tend to team this up with the Clearasil Daily Clear Superfruit scrub, using the St Ives one first to remove heavy duty makeup, and then the Clearasil as a lighter and gentler exfoliator so as to not upset my easily annoyed skin.

I don't /not/ like it, but it isn't my favourite. I probably won't be repurchasing as I only bought it because their Green Tea face scrub (my favourite) wasn't available at the time.

Tips: A little goes a long way, and don't use it too often because it really is heavy duty.

Alas, beauty trends!

This product was pretty phenomenal worldwide, I remember seeing them at Japan and Hong Kong cosmetic stores in the international aisles – I remember thinking "What? Of all international beauty products, this takes the limelight?". I digress, but back in the day when exfoliating first became popular this was a staple for me, because my skin really felt heaps softer (as the walnut powder really works like sandpaper). Now I know better and use gentler chemical exfoliants like AHA and BHA. I might still use it on the back of my arms though, but face, no more!

Pros and cons

There is a pro and many cons. Yes it did make my face feel softer, as the beads literally scrubbed my layer of skin off. I used this a few years ago, everyday for a month. I now know better, and I use a gentle cleanser that doesn't feel like sandpaper.
