I've always loved face scrubs and am constantly trying out new ones and was pleasantly surprised when coming across this one. It lightly exfoliates and isn't too rough like other scrubs. It makes my skin feel super soft afterwards and o always love that I'm supporting a New Zealand brand.
When my old exfoliater finished I was excited to try this Skinfood one as I love all of the other products that I have tried in this range.
The packaging is appealing, simple and easy to use. I like that it stands with the lid at the bottom so you can easily get the product out.
The walnut shells are fairly large which for me was the downside of this product. When I was younger I really liked my exfoliators to be quite course which this product would have then been perfect for me however as I have aged I favored a finer exfoliator which is why I wouldn't purchase this again. I did like the creamy base as it feels like it nourishes as it exfoliates.
I love that it is made from natural ingredients and that it is a New Zealand company and I think for $13.99 it is a great price. Although it is not for me I would recommend to other people who like quite a rough exfoliating scrub.
Tips: Great for whole body use!
Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub is a cream cleanser with walnut exfoliating pieces throughout. Nice and natural.
Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub is packaged in a box and inside the box is a white squeezy tube with a flip top lid. Great for standing up in the shower and no waste :-) Both the Skinfood box and squeezy tube are white the standard green Skinfood logo. Simple and eye catching. There is also a list of all the natural ingredients and Skinfood is proudly NZ made.
Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub is gentle on your skin and has a slight citrus smell. I use when I am in the shower. I only need a small amount the size of a 10c piece for my face and this does not lather. Your skin does not feel stripped of any moisture. Feels clean, smooth and refreshed.
I use Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub every few days so has lasted a long time.
I recommend for all skin types to try.
The one pro of this product for me is that as a cream based product, it was quite moisturising, but it was also quite thick and gluggy which may be why I didn't actually feel like any exfoliation was happening. The exfoliation agents themselves were quite large but I mostly didn't feel it exfoliating anything away unless I got quite rough which was never necessary with any other exfoliators I've tried. Will finish off the tube in the shower on my body (I don't recommend for face), but I will not be repurchasing the item.
I love this exfoliator, it is so natural and creamy, and doesn't feel at all drying as some other's I have tried have! This is very gentle and makes my skin feel so nice and smooth and is fantastic at removing dry/dead skin. I use this 3 times a week and it has my skin looking and feeling great!
I thoroughly enjoyed using this product! My skin felt amazing and smooth after one use. I was sad when it ran out i had to go get more! i massaged this product into my face to use it to it's full potential. normally when i change face products i break out - but i didn't have this problem with the skinfood scrub :)
Skinfood is a New Zealand brand that I became aware of through my cousin using it. When I received it in my Beauty Box, I was happy to try it.
It came in a box with the skinfood labelling on it. I like these green tear drops that represent this brand. This bottle is a 100 ml. It sits on itself. The lid is easy to open. The exfoliating scrub is white with brown bits through it. The scent of it remind me of kiwifruit and lime. It has a zesty fresh scent. The texture of is creamy with small bits making it feel textured.
I like to use this this scrub when I'm having a shower. I use it on my face, neck and body. When I applied it , it covered my body well. It felt like this scrub is cleaning my skin. I used about two to three pumps of it to cover my whole body. I alternate it depending on how my skin is. My skin is drier on my legs than it is on my body. My face is a combination between dry and ance prone. I was surprised that my skin wasn't dried out from it at all. I also tried it to help remove make up and it did an excellent job.
Overall its made from natural ingredients which is a plus. Another great product from a New Zealand based company. I think price wise it's affordable to buy. I have purchased more of this from countdown on other occasions. One bottle lasted me a little over a month with daily use. Was a nice addition to the beauty box, I did enjoy using it.
So when I first got this product in the BRBB I assumed it was a face scrub. Then I looked around and was under the impression it was a body scrub. I have been using it as a face scrub only, so if it's for anything else, my bad. The bottle doesn't actually say WHERE it is to be used, so I figure I'm in the clear. On the skinfood website it comes with exfoliating gloves so now I'm even more confused!
The product is a lovely, creamy light brown in color, with bits and pieces of scrubby stuff through it. I'm guessing some of it is walnut shell, as that's one of the ingredients. It feels quite nice on my skin, too. The product doesn't lather at all, but I'm fine with that. I use about a 10c piece size of the product and it covers all of my face and some of my neck.
The smell is quite unusual - I don't smell any of the main products, but at the same time I do. It doesn't smell predominantly of cucumber or lime, but I can get the tiniest ounce of their smells. It's really quite earthy, I think, but it isn't a bad smell.
My skin feels lovely and soft after use, and thankfully it doesn't dry my skin out too much. In fact it's perfect for my skin. It gets rid of the dead skin cells and some of the oiliness, but I've found it doesn't really clear up my blackheads or pimples when I have them. So I would repurchase only if I was really desperate, but I'm glad I got to try it.
I bought this product from the company for $13.99.
It comes in the distinctive white Skinfood packaging, a 100ml tube inside a white box with the Skinfood colours and logo. The tube has a flip top and is simple to access and use – just flip and squeeze.
The product has the same amazing scent as the mud masque – citrus and very similar to the senses as fresh lemonade – delicious!
It is of a thick lotion consistency and is moderately gritty when applied to the skin. I give it a minute or two to dry and then rub gently, and this works very well for exfoliating without stressing my skin. I then rinse it off with warm water.
The product claims to be made up of walnut shell, cucumber extract, manuka honey, aloe vera, sweet almond and lime to cleanse and refresh tired skin.
The feeling after use is clean and soft skin, that does feel fresh. I especially like that it is not harsh on skin as some exfoliaters can be.
It only requires a small amount of product (1/2 teasp) to gently cleanse the whole face so a tube lasts for weeks, even if using it several times a week.
As an avid user of Skinfood products, I have to say this one is equally fabulous to the others and is a very economical price. I would recommend it to my friends.
My son has been sharing this product with me to help with his acne prone skin. He reports he is finding it very cleansing on his skin and feels his skin is benefitting from it also.
