Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub Review

I really love the Skinfood brand. I think they make wonderful products for sensitive skin. I received this scrub when I bought a Skinfood beauty bundle online. I was excited to give this a go.

This comes in the same white and green packaging as their other products. In the tube you get 100ml, which is the same amount as their moisturisers. The tube stands on its lid, which is great for using up the very last of the product.

I use exfoliators once a week on my face, and before I shave my legs. My skin is quite dry and sensitive, so exfoliating too much is bad for it. The packaging does not state whether this scrub is for your face or body. I only used this scrub on my body. The reason is because this scrub is quite grainy and rough in texture. I thought it would be too rough for my face.

This scrub does not appear to use microbeads, which is great! Instead it uses crushed walnut shell which is combined with cucumber, honey, aloe vera, almond and lime. The scrub itself is a cream coloured creme with brown gritty fragments of walnut.The lime scent of the scrub is strong, and very pleasant and refreshing.

My main issue with this scrub is that you have to apply it with your hands. I like to put my exfoliator onto a loofah, and then rub that on my body. But when I tried that with this scrub, it was too thick and chunky, and most of it stayed stuck to the loofah. It worked better on my body when I applied it with my hands, and it did leave my skin feeling soft, but I don't think it is the ideal body scrub. It may work better as a face scrub, which I do prefer to apply with my hands.

I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this earlier! This exfoliating scrub is a must have in my skincare collection.

First of all I love that this is made in New Zealand and is readily available at supermarkets, plus it is so affordable - which you can usually buy on sale too!

I love a more grittier exfoliator opposed to a gentle scrub and this one does wonders on my skin, leaving it soft and smooth straight after using. It makes my skin a perfect base for a night time oil or makeup base before work. I use this twice a week without fail! It's not hard to forget to use it because I LOVE using it. This is one product I can't live without!

On the plus also, it smells fresh and citrusy (lime is an ingredient so I definitely pick this up). I love that this is natural based and paraben free! 100% recommend if you prefer a really good facial exfoliation!

I purchased this scrub as I like the brand and reasonable price.

I like the texture of the walnut but find the scrub a bit too creamy/oily in feel. The scrub leaves a bit of a residue feeling - but perhaps that is just the moisturiser in it.

The smell and packaging are good.

Didn't see much difference in skin. Will use up on dry skin on elbows/knees but will look for something else for my face.

Since using 'Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub', I have found no other Scrub that even remotely compares. Skinfood has created a product that not only reaches into the skin, but leaves it feeling soft, silky, and absolutely clean. The tiny beads within, make the skin come alive. I have used this Scrub for years, and I would never change to any other. It is just so amazing, and does everything that it says it will, and more. The retail price is affordable, and what's more, this scrub is cruelty free, which definitely gets the big tick from me.

I love that Skinfood is NZ made and owned, that they use natural ingredients and have easily attainable and cost effective products. I often drop this into my monthly grocery trolley as it is available at Countdown, normally they are on special, I don't think I have ever paid full priced for a tube.

The product is almost a paste, it is thick and full of walnut shells, finely milled to be safe for your face, they really get into your pores and give them a good scrubbing. Used twice a week I find that my skin appears more clearer, brighter and even more youthful as it sort of tones the skin at the same time as you massage the product around your face so you lift your facial skin which is an added bonus.

I prefer to also do a steam at the same time, before using the scrub I place a nearly hot face cloth on my skin to really open everything up. Each time I do this my skin care sinks in quicker and the following day my skin needs no makeup it has a natural glow. Would recommend.

This is a cream like scrub with walnut shell particles to exfoliate your skin. The packaging is plain but attractive, the scent is nice and fresh. The walnut shell particles are a bit big and scratchy for my liking though. I worry that the large particles could easily damage my skin causing long term damage. I find the formula quite rich and non drying, so would suit normal to dry skin types more so than oily skin. The price is very good for the size of the product.

I don't think there is anything really wrong with this exfoliant and it may be suitable for some people but it's just not suitable for me. I prefer something less abrasive that gives better exfoliation results. I'm currently using up the rest of the product when I do at home pedicures.

Love! This is definitely the best exfoliator I have tried. It does a really good job, my skin feels clean and smooth after every use. I exfoliate 1-2 times a week so this lasts me months, smells lovely, not too harsh on the skin and its affordable.

This scrub is a natural NZ-made scrub that uses walnut to exfoliate. It has wonderful ingredients like cucumber, Manuka honey and aloe vera, plus it is easily picked up at the supermarket.

I love the fact that walnut is used instead of nasty microbeads and the product smells really lovely. The creaminess filled with all those goodies soothes my sensitive skin while I scrub.

However, I'm not sure I'm in love with the walnut as the scrub. I find this a bit too coarse for my face, but not quite scrubby enough for my body, so I'm not sure how I should be using it. Mainly I just use it so I can smell it! :D

This is a good scrub if you want a gentle scrub for your body, or a rougher scrub for your face, but you may find, like me, you end up just using it so you can smell good!
