Less blackheads but more whiteheads!

This product claims to purify skin and clear blackheads so I was definitely the perfect candidate; I have quite clogged pores and a lot of blackheads. The product comes in a very luxurious transparent glass pottle with a gold lid. I felt like the packaging was really nice for a supermarket product but felt it was excessive that the pottle came also inside a box, I'm not a fan of unnecessary packaging. I liked the transparency of the pottle so you can see how product you're using but I found it unhygienic as you have to scoop the product out with your fingers. I found the scent of this to be really unpleasant, it's a strong kiwifruit scent but with a plasticy chemical- like smell to it. The scrub itself resembles kiwifruit; it's a green jelly-like scrub with black kiwi seeds through it, I thought this looked super cool. I found I needed to use quite a lot to cover my entire face and lips, and I've made quite a good dent in it using this throughout the trial so I don't think this is the most economical product given the RRP price. The scrub was easy to use and I found the self-warming component really cool, it felt very spa-like and pleasant to use this on my face. I didn't enjoy using this on my lips however, I found it weird that this can be used as a lip scrub yet you cannot ingest this. I felt uncomfortable putting this on my lips as it smelt unpleasant and I was scared of getting it in my mouth, it also left quite an unpleasant taste on my lips even after washing it off, so I'd only recommend using this on the face. This was quite a good consistency in that it was scrubby enough to exfoliate my face well but also quite gentle, I found it gentle enough to use every day. After every use my skin did feel way softer so it definitely fulfilled that promise. It left my face feeling softer, smoother and moisturised. I noticed a reduction in the number of blackheads I had but a massive increase in small whiteheads. I don't normally get small whiteheads but throughout the trial I started getting a lot of small whiteheads that I think were due to this product. This may have been just my skin adjusting to a new product and due to the length of the trial period I cannot be sure the scrub will always do this but I didn't feel the reduction in blackheads from this scrub was worth getting more whiteheads, especially when these are more noticeable. So essentially this scrub did do what it said it would but with the added side effect of whiteheads, which has left me a bit undecided if I would want to use this again or recommend this, as the breaking out in whiteheads may just be a temporary effect of this. Overall, I think there are cheaper scrubs out there that smell better and are more natural than this one, and didn't give me whiteheads so I'm not 100% sold on this, but it is not a terrible product. I'll keep using this and update my review if the whitehead issue still persists.

Tips: -Rinse your face twice after using this as it doesn't wash off super easily

It's Pretty...

Received this product through a BR Trial. Thanks BR for the opportunity. First impressions: Packaging is a glass square with a gold sparkly top lid. Looks professional and classy. You can see the scrub through the glass. This scrub is a gorgeous green colour with seeds like Kiwifruit. Also smells sweet and fruity like Kiwifruit.

Have been using this for almost two weeks and have mixed views on the results. No application tools were supplied so you just dip your fingers in to apply. I'd say I used about a teaspoon and a half of product per use. It warms on your face and gets warmer when warm water is applied. This left my face feeling hot. Also when the sugar melted it felt really uncomfortable like multiple scratches you can't itch. When scrub is removed, skin looks clearer, smoother, feels softer and I have noticed a minor decrease in blackheads and gunk on my nose.

However in saying this, this scrub also broke my skin out. Pimples on my chin and random spots on my face. I don't know what this is about. I also used it as a lip scrub and did not find it as effective as I thought it would be.

I think the idea for this product is awesome and has good attributes and probably works really well for a lot of people out there. Unfortunately it didn't work that well for me.

Tips: One and a half teaspoons of product should be enough for the whole face.

Sugar Scrub Goodness!

When I recieved this my first thoughts were that it had really pretty packaging! I loved the glass jar and it looks really cute on my bathroom shelf. The next thing I loved was the smell. To me it smelled like those Garnier shampoos/conditioners, the ones that smell like apples. So good! I found that there could have been a tad more clear instructions. It said to apply a small amount, but I wasn't sure what quantified a small amount so I just roughly guessed the amount.

This sugar scrub gives a weird heat sensation that I didn't really like. It didn't burn or anything, but the sensation was definatley new to me. The scrub have a nice gentle exfoliation and make my face feel really smooth, even my active acne noticeably reduced in texture. One thing I liked was that it didn't irritate active acne areas and it was easy to apply.

Overall this was a really good scrub that did what it said it would do and I'm impressed.

Tips: Have a damp facecloth ready to help remove the scrub after use!

Nice scrub for the price!

I was so excited to get this scrub, I love using coffee scrubs and I hadn't used a plain sugar one much before.

The container it comes in is really nice, and I especially like how there was a seal under the actual lid. However the actual container is glass, which looks and feels nice, but if you use it in the shower (like I do), it gets slippery and you could drop it, meaning it would smash everywhere. A different material other than glass might be more suitable for this product, despite it feeling like a good quality product when you hold it.

The actual scrub itself is quite nice, it's thick but has a lot of sugar granules so it's really good at exfoliating. It's not the harshest scrub I have ever used which could be a good thing depending what you want, but it definitely gets the job done.

The one thing I didn't like about this product was that it warns up on your skin. With a scrub, this seems pretty silly. If my face heats up when using a product, I immediately think I'm having a reaction to it. A scrub whose purpose is meant to irritate your skin, and then heats itself up, seems weird.

I really liked how this product could be used on your lips as well, even though I think it tastes a bit weird; the concept is nice and it makes me feel like the ingredients in the product aren't too bad if you can put it on your mouth.

Overall, I would recommend this scrub to people without sensitive skin. It's only $19.99 which is good, especially because it's one of the only sugar scrubs you can find at Farmers and supermarkets.

Tips: Don't use if you have sensitive skin - it might be hard for you to tell the difference between a skin reaction and the product heating itself up.

Love love love it

This scrub is so good, I’ve been using this every second day since it arrived 2 weeks ago. The fragrance was lovely and the texture of the scrub was great and was a gentle yet effective exfoliant. This scrub didn’t irritate my semi sensitive skin and left it fresh, clean and glowing. The product seemed to heat up when coming into contact with my skin which I thought was a bit weird, but it didn’t put me off. You need to follow the instructions and use it on a dry face and apply with dry hands, otherwise it doesn’t work very well. This is a shame as I can’t use in the shower :(. My blackheads have disappeared however the other benefits outweigh this.

Tips: Don’t apply in shower, doesn’t work as well with wet face or wet hands

Suagr scrub by Loreal Paris.

If this product was in a tube it would be more hygienic and light weight in luggage with less chance of breaking. It does have a plastic top under the lid which is good. directions and more info can be revealed if you peel back a shiny sticker on the back of the glass jar. I've tried quite a few exfoliating cosmetics but not many sugar scrubs. This product uses sugar and kiwi fruit seeds instead of plastic balls for me it feels good knowing that I am not harming turtles and the fish. The plastic balls in most exfoliating products end up being eaten by the sea life and is hazardous. Sugar granules are different sizes the size of the granule effects how harsh it will feel on the skin. This product has several sugars through it. The sugar dissolved and melted into my skin becoming less scrubby as I was using it. Adding water will also dilute results for more gentle exfoliating. Sugar hydrates the skin and helps promote the growth of new fresh young skin because it is a natural alpha hydroxy acid. (AHA). AHAs in higher concentrations should only be applied under care of beauty therapists and skin specialists because they can be painful and abrasive. However this product is a nice gentle AHA. Good for people who are a little weary of scrubs feeling too harsh/abrasive. This helps cleanse pores, soften the skin and hydrates. Sugar is a better option over salt scrub because a salt scrub will strip the natural oils actually drying skin out. Glycolic acid in this product helps maintain balance of oil and moisture in the skin and in the long run is good to prevent the look of aged skin. This product smells fresh but not super fruity as I was expecting. A little goes a fair way it looks and feels like a thick gel. The product claims to matiify the skin which I think it does. It helps with oil control and shine I did not have lot of oil so my skin was a little dry afterwards I noticed an hour or so after cleansing all the shine and oil was not all back like with other cleansers/exfoliants. People with oily skin may find this a good option. I don't have many black heads but I know that this product will help prevent them because the sugar graunules melt/dissolve they will not get stuck into the skin pores causing comedones (black heads/acne) like in other exfoliant granules The kiwi seeds are too large to get stuck in the skin. Yes this scrub works on lips too without being too harsh (and I got a hint of the taste. Sweet. Yes certainly sugar in there.) My skin felt soft after use and did not look dull. I did not notice much of a cooling sensation that usually comes with products that have peppermint oil in them and it does not smell very minty either but great to know it is in the product soothing the skin. This product I am satisfied with it. At $20 for 50ml the price is not great but at least it does seem to do what it says it will.

Tips: Ensure you use sunscreen and moisturize after exfoliating and using sugar & salt scrub.

Hello L'Oréal Purifying Scrub - Goodbye Blackheads

It feels a bit sticky and thick when you first put it on but as you start to massage it in and the sugars melt the stickiness goes and the consistency becomes light. It massages in really easily and the kiwifruit gives it a yummy smell which makes it smell good enough to eat. A little goes a long way so start with a small amount and add more if necessary, one tub should last awhile which makes it pretty good value for money. I think the packaging looks good and is very descriptive of the product. I also love that the product comes in a glass jar. I did find the cover under the lid a little but fiddly but if you're not taking the jar anywhere you could dispose of the inside cover and just use the jar lid. Now to the actual product - I LOVE IT!!! After using it just once the blackheads on my nose already looked smaller and less defined and my whole face felt super soft. My blackheads are improving each time I use it and my skin stays soft between uses too. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to a friend. In fact I've already given it to my teen to use on his blackheads and mild acne and after just one use his blackheads are smaller, his pimples are less red and his skin overall looks brighter.

Tips: When you use it for the first time underestimate how much you think you'll need as it goes on well and spreads easily so you will find that you need less than you think.

Bugs on my face!

Since this isn't my first time using a heating face product, I wasn't overly impressed with this product. Although it does have a nice texture with the fine grains of sugar, there are also kiwifruit seeds throughout it which IMO have no purpose other than to remind you that this is from a kiwifruit. The scent is quite pleasantly sweet, but not overwhelming. In terms of doing what it claims to do - after three uses (over one week), I did notice a slight reduction of oilyness on my forehead, however I don't think the rest of my skin was affected at all. It definitely does feel nice once it's washed off, however it would be very strange if you face didn't feel nice after a sugar scrub. I'm a tad disappointed that this product didn't reduce my blackheads, but tbh there aren't many products that help with it so it's not too big of a deal. Overall, would I spend money on this product again? No. Will I finish the rest of this product however? Probably - it's ok as a regular scrub to gently exfoliate the skin, so I'll just use it for that feature.

Tips: Remember to apply it on a dry face or it won't heat up nicely.

Sweet juicy green goodness

I received this product for review from BR (Thanks guys)..

Visually this product really stands out for me, a bright tropical green colored substance in a solid square glass jar, packaged in a metallic gold box.. Beautiful!

Looking at he product unopened I definitely expected it to smell amazing, and of course it does! As expected it's a sweet kiwi fruity scent.

I got a real surprise the first time that I applied the scrub, it warms and it's very noticeable. Something is mentioned about this on the box, but I hadn't been expecting so much heat, it's not burny or unpleasant at all though..

This is a gentle scrub, it doesn't take long to work the sugar grains down, dissolving into a thin shiny coatng.

After washing off my skin is soft and smooth, and after about a week and a half of every daybuse, my pores do appear smaller in my opinion.

I've really enjoyed using this product, it's extremely pleasant, gentle but powerful, and I think reasonably priced.

I would recommend this one to anyone and might purchase myself some time.

Almost good enough to eat!

A kiwifruit face scrub with actual kiwifruit seeds, isn't that neat! This looks just like a kiwifruit puree and smells equally delicious. The product has a thick gel consistency and contains lots sugar grains for optimum scrubbing action. I've recently been using the essano face scrub which is on the gentler side so this seemed a lot rougher in comparison. I don't think it was too harsh though since the sugar somewhat 'dissolved' as I rubbed it into my face. It was easy to rinse off (both in the shower and using a flannel at my sink) and didn't leave any residue on my skin.

Afterwards I felt as if a layer of dead skin cells have been lifted, and that my face was fresh and rejuvenated. I also noticed that it removed makeup quite well, so if I only had light makeup on I could even skip the makeup wipes and go straight in with this. I've limited myself to using this at the most twice a week, as it is quite a powerful exfoliant and I have sensitive skin. Haven't seen any longterm results like reduced blackheads or minimised pores but I have only been using it for two weeks.

I really wished this came in a squeeze tube or something like that. I like to use face scrubs in the shower but for someone who drops their soap/shampoo on almost a daily basis, glass jars meant disaster. Also this is only 50g for $20 which is a little less than what I'd have expected. Each time I use about half a teaspoon, so I'd expect this to only last a month, maybe 2 tops.
