Love this scrub

This scrub contains many types of sugar and kiwi seeds which I feel like works very well on the skin. The texture is slightly thinner than jelly and rubs onto the skin easily.

After use, my skin felt very nice and smooth which I loved. My pores also felt clean and fresh!

Would definitely recommend to anyone who is in need of a scrub!!

Tips: Moisturise afterwards to keep the skin feeling nice and clean.

Eagerly Awaited..Did Not Disappoint!!

My face is so smooth, I can not stop touching it! I had no idea how much of a state my skin was in before I used this, it has by far out-performed my other facial scrub, so goodbye old, hellooo new.

I love the packaging of the sugar scrub, a heftily weighted, yet compact size, square glass jar, quite a good design I feel, as its easy to remove the lid in the shower with wet hands. Nice to see the glorious pop of green in the jar, it just looks fresh!

I could smell the purifying scrub before I pulled off the protector cap, I love the smell, it is more kiwifruit and lemongrassed based, with a hint of peppermint, ooohh yum. This is the sort of gel that reminds me of jam, it does not slip off your fingers and fall off in a big gob on the shower floor, and the sugar distribution is spot on, all the goodness is not in the bottom of the jar. OK now the real surprise, I read on the pack this heats as you use it, really?!? That was a total surprise, usually clay based masks heat, I have not heard of a scrub with that feature before. I started off with a small amount on my fingers, then applied to my face, as I scrubbed, I felt the heat, it was a soothing, heat, not unpleasant at all, actually it was quite nice, so I used more, I got some slightly in my mouth, not gonna lie it didn't taste bad, but no I do not recommend you eat it!

I didn't feel the need to moisturize after using this, and as well as having super soft skin, my nose does feel less oilier than it would, and with continued use, I hope to banish by blackhead -prone -nose -skin, and to clear up my hormonal breakouts. I love this scrub, the sugar melted away and there was no oily after feel, and no slipping in the shower, awesome!

Tips: This scrub is gentle enough to use all over, breathe deep to get the aromatherapy benefits as well.

Clean and Green

Sometimes, your face just needs a good old-fashioned scrub. Wearing SPF sunscreen and makeup regularly, using heavy moisturisers, and let's not forget the daily build-up of dead skin (gross I know!) all contribute to a dull complexion. This last week my skin was far from shining bright like a diamond and this scrub arrived just in the nick of time!

I don't know exactly what it is, but I'm far more likely to enjoy a product when it's housed in a glass jar. Is it the cool weight in my hand? Is it the thought that glass is surely more expensive, and therefore luxe, than plastic? Is it that I can see the product clearly? Whatever it is, L'Oreal does not disappoint on the packaging front. This one would look good on even Kim K's bathroom shelf.

I'm not the only one who sniffs a new product upon first opening it, am I? Well, good, because this one's a treat- all fruity and yummy smelling, like a kiwifruit sweet. I think we're all pretty partial to a bit of kiwifruit here in NZ so thanks, L'Oreal, for thinking of us!

Let's continue this sensory journey, as you scoop a little out it'll feel gritty to the touch, but a fine grit rather than one of those chunky and rough scrubs that are all too common. On the face, it self-heats and gets up to a nice warmth as the three sugars melt into your skin. At this point, a splash of warm water will wash it away no trouble, along with all the built up nasties that've been lurking on your skin.

Afterwards, your face feels smooth, clean, and soft. It didn't create too much redness but I wouldn't use this on very dry or sensitive skin. The box has a neat diagram which shows the best way to massage the scrub into your skin. How about that, a face scrub and facial massage in the comfort of your own home!

Overall, a very pleasant and effective little jar of green kiwifruit goodness. I'll continue to use this and see what longer-term effects it'll have.

Tips: Follow the directions on the jar and don't overuse this product- three times a week is plenty!

A sweet scrub

Sugar scrubs! I have used them before for my hands (thanks Ethique), but never my face. I'm stoked I got to trial this because I probably wouldn't have otherwise. My face is very sensitive and I get eczema a lot around my eyes, nose and neck. That makes me wary of trying new products. Especially exfoliators and scrubs.

This though.... sweet (in both the Kiwi slang way and the sugar!). First off, it's the most gorgeous colour with the sweetest smell. It's also a gel which is weird, but nice. Read the instructions first and you'll see you put it on dry. Then add a touch of water to melt the sugar, then rinse off. It has self-heating properties which freaked me out at first, but subsequent times I liked it.

It definitely made a difference to my skin appearance and feel. It didn't overly clean or dry out my skin, and instead made it feel soft, dewy and delicious. Use it on your lips before applying lipstick for added oomph.

After one week I definitely noticed less blackheads and my skin was less oily. Normally, by the end of the day my skin needs another good clean but I found that wasn't the case here.

The box says use 3 times a week, so I applied it just before jumping in the shower, allowing me to rinse it off in there.

It seems like it will last a while. I'll definitely buy this product again when my jar is empty. It's a lovely refreshing and energising clean for summer, while I bet the self-heating and exfoliating qualities will really shine in winter too.

Tips: Apply to dry face first. Then add a touch of water to melt the sugar, before rinsing off. Great to use before applying lipstick - especially matte lipstick!

A sugar scrub that is gentle?!

I was skeptical at how gentle this scrub would be on my face. I generally reserve using sugar scrubs to my body only, but I was pleasantly surprised at the consistency and texture of this. It doesn't have large sugar particles (it blends brown, blonde, and white sugars) and also has kiwi seeds in it which aren't rough at all. It starts to warm as you apply it which is super lovely and calming. I feel like I'm really treating myself when when I apply it. I apply it all over and let it sit for a bit, and then before I rinse it off I'll really work it into my problem areas. I think the beat part of this scrub is that you can use it on your lips too! It leaves your skin feeling so soft, whilst not stripping all your oils away. I'm going to have to try the two other scrubs available (the glow scrub and the nourishing scrub).

Tips: Apply it like a mask, gently rub it in to get the heating technology to start, then let it sit for a relaxing spa like treatment, then scrub your skin and lips before removing.

Just the best

I have to say I wasn't prepared with how warm this would feel straight away but it was actually quite plesant. I absolutely loved how my skin felt after using this!

It's rough enough that you actually feel like it's doing its job but soft enough and dissolves quickly so you don't feel like you're scrubbing your face off.

The box that it comes in is super cute and nice and informative. Not so sure about the plastic lid, mine broke (definitely my fault!) but it's definitely not a deal breaker.

I will absolutely be buying this again.

L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrub. Purifying Scrub

I was lucky and am grateful to be trialling this product from Beauty review thank you.

It comes in a square pottle with a screw on lid. The consistency is gooey green and semi thick green sugar scrub with kiwi fruit seeds throughout and has a sweet scent.

This one claims to purify your skin and rid you of blackheads. To use you simply apply the sugar scrub on your face, add a a small amount of warm water and gently rub and circular motions then leave it to absorb into your face until the sugar melts and wash off with lukewarm water.

While I felt this product was gooey it was easy to apply and wash off. It did not feel harsh at all on my face and had a pleasant scent. It left my skin feeling extremely soft and after 5 uses I have noticed reduce blackheads which anybody should be happy about. I did notice that before I applied the water to my face the product heated up quite quickly on my skin which had me concerned but I think it's what the product is meant to do? And that heat quickly disappeared once I added the water and started scrubbing my face.

This product recommends using roughly 3 times per week and I still have at least half of it left after 5 uses so it would be great value for money.

I would happily recommend and I am actually planning on purchasing the other sugar Scrubs to see how they go and look forward to reading other ladies reviews.

Tips: A small amount goes a long way and remember to screw the lid on tight afterwards so that the product does not dry out.

Magical Kiwi Fruit

I have very oily skin that is prone to blackheads, so I put my hand up for the trial team for the Purifying Scrub, which promises to instantly refresh, clean and purify skin, and after one week, pores and blackheads are visibly reduced and skin is mattified, with a baby-soft touch.

The 50ml square glass tub has a tan-coloured screw top lid, with a little white plastic protector underneath. The green coloured scrub inside looks and smells exactly like mashed, sugared kiwi fruit, and even contains real kiwi fruit seeds! Now, I was a little worried that these kiwi fruit seeds would end up being really scratchy, but the scrub is actually really gentle.

The instructions on the box say to apply a small amount (with dry fingers) onto clean, dry skin. I found that while applying the scrub dry, it heated up quite quickly, and I do love a self-heating face scrub. If you've ever used the Freeman's Charcoal and Black Sugar scrub, it heats up the same way.

Once the scrub was on my face, I applied a little warm water and massaged it in circular motions, avoiding my eyes, but I did go around my lips, as it can be used as a lip scrub as well. Unfortunately, I did get a little in my mouth, and let me tell you ... ugh! It does not taste as wonderful as it smells! Anyway, once the sugar had melted, I simply washed away the seeds and any residue, and it did leave my skin feeling nice and smooth.

This purifying sugar scrub contains three different types of fine sugar crystals; brown, blonde and white, as well as kiwi fruit seeds to exfoliate, peppermint oil to soothe and help reduce blemishes, and lemongrass oil to help purify the skin. I was worried about this product containing peppermint oil, as I hate the feel of mentholated products on my skin and do tend to avoid them. I am very happy to say that there is no burning, tingling feeling that I usually associate with products containing mint or menthol, and I'd happily purchase another tub of this.

After using this scrub three times per week (per the instructions), it really does seem to be helping to unblock the really stubborn blackheads that I've had on my nose for years. So, does it live up to its promises? Yes, I think it does! I'd definitely recommend this purifying sugar scrub to anyone who battles with stubborn blackheads.

Tips: Apply to clean, dry skin, massage it a little and then let it sit on the skin (like a mask) for a few minutes before adding a little warm water and massaging some more, before rinsing it off.

L’Oréal Paris Purifying Face Scrub

I’ve got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this face scrub. I’ve never been a big fan of the brand and definitely wouldn’t normally reach for any of their skincare. However I really enjoyed this scrub.

In terms of packaging, the glass jar gave it a nice heavy feel, although I didn’t think it was particularly attractive packaging. The instructions state to scoop out some product with DRY hands, put the lid back on and then apply to the face, which is more than likely due to the fact that getting water in the product would ruin it. This makes it quite inconvenient for use in the shower which is where I most often use a face scrub for easier clean up. Personally I think the product would benefit from being in a squeeze tube, so there’s little to no chance of water entering the product and increases ease of use.

The product itself is a lime green colour with the black kiwi seeds throughout. I found the smell odd, but not necessarily unpleasant. It smelt a little bit artificial, rather than my expectation of a kiwi/peppermint smell as described on the product.

My skin can get quite easily aggravated by scrubs, and I did expect this scrub to cause the same reaction as I thought the grains of sugar may be too large and coarse for my skin. However this wasn’t the case, and the scrub felt quite gentle, while still effective. After rinsing away the product from my face, my skin didn’t feel dry or stripped like it often can with exfoliating products. My skin felt quite balanced and super, super smooth. I couldn’t stop touching my face and it creates the perfect base for applying serums and moisturisers as it feels like my skin really absorbs the products better than usual and they don’t just sit on the surface.

I don’t really have an issue with pores or blackheads so I can’t say I noticed a reduction in either of these, but on the plus side it didn’t break my skin out or cause it any issues. In fact, it left my skin feeling quite healthy and balanced, plus looking very even and glossy.

Overall, I’m super impressed with this scrub and I think it’s taken #1 spot as my favourite face scrub. I would definitely repurchase it myself when I run out, although I still do think it would benefit from different packaging (although I appreciate the glass jar, minus the lid, as it means less plastic into the environment.)

Tips: Make sure you wet your face/hands enough to ensure the scrub is gentle. Without enough water to help the sugar dissolve a little, I think the scrub could definitely be too coarse for a lot of skin types.

Amazing little product every girl needs!

Let me start by saying, I have extremely oily skin that becomes somewhat combination in the winter. On top of that, I develop surface dry patches specially on the sides of my nose if I use products that are typically made for oily skin. So I was a bit skeptical about using this at first. Cuz I have bad previous experiences with similar products.

However, it ended up becoming one of my most favourite scrubs. The first time I used it, I freaked out for 10 seconds thinking I am having a allergic reaction to the scrub cuz it made my face and neck all warm. It fades away soon leaving the skin wanting the feeling to continue. This blew my mind and kind of made me addicted to this scrub to be honest. It also made me curious about the science behind this product and now I am itching to get my hands on the other 2 scrubs in this range. =)

I do not have any blackheads or white heads so I do not know whether this scrub will clear them. However, this scrub makes the skin less oily and very smooth. Usually scrubs/facewashes made for oily skin makes my skin feel very tight and dry afterwards. This didn't do that and didn't feel harsh on the skin at all.

To test thoroughly, I used this on my skin everyday for 7 days and the skin only got better. Since the sugar particles are teeny tiny, the skin only feel a slight scrubbing sensation even though it cleans the skin completely. I even use it on my lips. This is a gentle scrub that does what it says exactly. It is a bit expensive for a drug store scrub, but don't be afraid to jump in and buy it cuz it will not be a waste of your money. :D

Tips: Use it after using a facewash. So the facewash will wash off any gunk/oil/makeup on the face and the scrub can work on its magic on a clean face.
