Couldn't get past the smell

I was really excited to trial this, having mainly only used Trilogy Rosehip Oil in the past.

I haven't used rosehip oil in a long time as I have battled adult acne and have been more focused on night serums that contain retinol and salicylic acid to control my acne (currently using Dermalogica Age Bright Clearing Serum).

This product felt fine when it went on, but I could not get past the horrible smell. Most rosehip oils smell floral, but this one smells almost meaty and being someone who doesn't eat meat, the smell made me gag. It smells like beef bone broth! My skin felt moisturised in the morning when I woke up but the smell was still there, and my pillow smelled like it as well.

A real shame - I wanted to like this product but just couldn't get past the smell. I will be giving it to a friend (if they can handle the smell!) as I can't bring myself to use it again.

The Alpine Silk face mask however is much better!

Tips: You only need a few drops.

A beautiful glow-up product

I've loved the rosehip oils I've tried in the past (trilogy, essano, Glow Lab), so I was super excited to try this one out - and it didn't disappoint.

The box is pink and quite tourist-shop-esque, but the actual bottle is very lovely. It is a matte frosted glass, with a dropper style lid. The oil itself is a clear yellow, and smells just like any other rosehip oil, even though it does also contain acai and evening primrose.

I found the 2-3 drops suggested to be the perfect amount, as a little sis go a long way. Just drop into your fingers, and then smooth over your face. It's really smooth to apply, and feels instantly hydrating. After a minute or two it has sunk in, and doesn't feel greasy. I personally don't like applying oils before makeup, so I use this just at night, but if you have super dry skin it could be helpful for priming a smooth base.

I've really enjoyed this, and my dry winter skin has been feeling much happier and hydrated since using it. I'd is definitely recommend to others, as it compares perfectly to the other rosehip oils I've tried, and they're an amazing addition to a skincare routine.

Tips: This can also be used on dry rough cuticles, or chapped skin, as an intensive boost of hydration.

Very Moisturising

This product has come at the perfect time. With working in air conditioning, and getting over a cold my skin was DRY, not just on my face but itchy and dry all over. I have tried other moisturisers that hurt the sensitive skin but this did not. Especially that sore skin around my nose, this healed it up FAST! Im not too sure on the long term benefits yet, as Ive only used this product for the last week, Ill update my review once I see how my red marks and scarring looks after using this for a while. So far so good, Ive noticed my red skin is settling down and really healing dry areas.

Tips: I slather this on at night, use quite alot and really let it soak in while I sleep.

Rosehip and Primrose

The packaging is quite nice - it's not as tourist-shop as other Alpine Silk products I've seen.

I think the fragrance is a little...potent. It's very strong, but thankfully does wear off after application.

I used around 5-6 drops for my whole face and neck, using after cleansing and before moisturising. Its a smooth thick oil, perfect for dry skin like mine.

I think this works as well as any high end rosehip oil, I've tried a few now, and this definitely stands tall among them.

My skin is soft and even in tone. I would buy again and recommend - although I'm still waiting to see a reduction in my wrinkles!

Alpine Silk Certified Organic Rosehip Oil Review

I found this rip hip oil like most other ones kn the market. It just had a plain oil scent. It comes in good packaging with a little dropper. I applied it to my face to minimise the fine lines and scarring. It has helped to reduce the redness but I think it will take more time to notice the effects on scars and fine lines. Great product that I would recommend.

Alpine Silk Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

Initial impression of the packaging was not enticing - the product is in a pink box with a rose on it, it looks like something aimed at the ageing market or perhaps should be found in a NZ Made tourist shop. The product itself is in a glass bottle which is plain and yet appears much better quality than the box.

The oil inside is a golden amber colour and reasonably thick but absorbs easily into the skin. It has a light odour which I find really unpleasant but it's a fairly standard smell for an oil, just not my preference. The dropper is easy to use, but generous in size - you definitely only need the 2-3 drops as suggested in the directions.

This New Zealand made product is paraben free and contains certified organic rosehip oil, organic acai and organic evening primrose oil. While it is reasonably thick it glides across your skin easily and readily absorbs into the skin. It left my skin feeling nourished but not greasy.

As I was not a fan of the smell, I persevered for the trial period applying on my face (which did feel good after application) but wouldn't continue on my face following the trial. However, I also applied the product to dry areas such as elbows, knees and heels and it has been amazing. It really nourished and softened these areas (which I regularly moistuirse anyway but stil noticed a difference) and I will happily keep applying this product to these areas.

Tips: Don't be tempted to use a whole dropper of product on your face, 2-3 drops is plenty.

Don't judge a book

When you first look at this the package makes it look cheap. Luckily when you open it it is in a nice glass bottle. Smells fine and felt good when applying. Time will tell if its as good as it says.

Classic, added to my routine

This was a great product to use. I use rosehip oil every night before bed after removing my make up; and I have noticed a huge improvement in my skins texture since doing so. This product had sleek packaging and a standard dropper to get the product out.

I enjoyed the scent, it was a little less strong than other rosehip oils I have used before which I appreciated.

I cannnot be sure this specific product helps with fine lines and uneven skin tone due to the short time I have been using it; however I have had great successes with rosehip oil before so I am sure this would be no different.

I also rate the fact that this product didn’t have a lot of the extra additives some rosehip oils have, it is a great product on its own and doesn’t need all the additives.

Tips: I put a generous amount on my face and neck after removing my make up at night and it soaks in overnight.

If your skin ever looks a bit dry, add one drop to your foundation for that day and mix well before applying, it really helps if you have any stubborn dry patches.

Beauty oil

I was really excited to try this oil but unfortunately it was a bit of a let down for me.

Firstly, I cannot stand the smell of this. I expected it to have a nice floral scent but unfortunately it just smells of oil and slightly citrusy. I’m not sure if it’s me heighten sense of smell due to pregnancy but I found this quite unpleasant.

I can’t say I’ve noticed much of a difference in the texture or tone of my skin, I may need to use it for longer to see the benefits.

It does take awhile for the oil to absorb into your skin, so I have been massaging it into my skin after a shower when my pores are open, I find though that the oil still sits on the surface of my skin for quite sometime.

I do like the brushed bottle which helps make it non-slip. The dropper is also good as it helps get the right amount of product.

Tips: Massage into skin

Beautiful Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

The Alpine Silk Certified Organic Rosehip Oil comes in a lovely frosted glass bottle with dropper. I've been using it after cleansing, rubbing it between my hands and then evenly over my face instead of moisturiser for extra nourishment and hydration in an effort to minimise the appearance of uneven skin tone. I've not used a facial oil before but this one doesn't leave my skin super oily as I'd expected. Something I was worried about was applying it close to bedtime and the oil staining my pillowcase but it seems to absorb enough that this hasn't been an issue. My skin feels hydrated much longer than using moisturiser and I like the natural properties. Will certainly have to keep using it a bit longer to determine whether it's making a difference when it comes to fine lines and that uneven skin tone.

Tips: You only need 3-4 drops. The pipette holds much more and it's tempting to distribute more!
