Cute & Effective

While they may be hard to find in NZ they're worth trying! I'm addicted to lipbalms, I can't leave the house without one so I've tried a lot of them and this brand is definitely in my top three! I've tried a few different flavours and they all smell amazing. It feels nice to apply and leaves my lips super smooth!

Tips: Try ordering one off ebay, they're not too expensive!

No go!

I purchased a 4 pack of EOS lip balms from fishpond.co.nz several months ago after reading and hearing plenty of hype about them all over the internet.

The packaging is so cute and this was probably the major selling point for me when it came to buying them. I've loved lip balms forever and am always on the hunt for new ones to try!

Unfortunately I didn't like EOS. I didn't find them hydrating and they lasted less than 10 minutes on my lips, I felt my dryness became worse after using them & that's not something I want in a product designed to hydrate and repair!

There are some pros though - they smell beautiful and they LOOK beautiful. But scent and looks just aren't going to cut it when the product doesn't provide any benefits whatsoever

Tips: Stick to blistex and chapstick - they're cheaper & they work!

Thanks for the review! I've been tempted by these because they look so adorable but now I think I'll give them a pass.

Cutest thing ever!!

The packaging is sooo cute! and the smell is amazing!

I have had mine for so long now and still haven't made that much a dent so this lasts a long time.

I really like it but it isn't that hydrating and long lasting on the lips. I personally think paw paw ointment works better.

The perfect mint lip balm, inside of an egg

I got sucked into the huge hype surrounding these lip balms, with the celebs carting them around. I'm a fan of mint lip balms in the first place so of course that was the flavour to 'accidentally' fall into my cart while I was browsing them online.

I love the packaging its just too cute, it's shape reassembles an egg, which is what they often get nicknamed. Then it has this soft almost velvet feeling to the plastic exterior and the easy to twist on and off lid that once off reveals the little dome of mint tingling balm.

Texture of the balm is very waxy actually and it isn't the easiest of balms to slather upon your lips but once you get going it applies very evenly without any build up remaining on the dome of balm, nor does too much get left on your lips.

The cool mint is refreshing yet tingly, the mint oils infused in the balm are very noticeable from its taste and fragrance. I also adore that the colour of the mint "egg" is a soft green/teal colour, or as I call it sea foam green which is my favourite colour of the moment.

Over winter this has been in and out of my pocket, dropped on the floor, thrown across the room when I left it on a table, and yet it still sits on my desk this morning happy as the day I brought it, no dents, no marks, and still about 50% of it left to use.

It has left me lips very supple and hydrated, I've had no chapping or flaking and according to the hubby, very kissable =)

Sweet Mint - much better than I expected!

I had read a recommendation online that Sweet Mint was a good flavour in these balms, usually I go for a berry or vanilla flavour. When I rocked up to Martha's Backyard in Auckland, they only had Sweet Mint or the Melon flavour un stock so I went for the Sweet Mint. It cost me $8.50 and I'm pretty happy with that. The packaging is a bit smaller than I imagined after seeing pics of these balms online, though that's not a bad thing. The little egg shape is cute and I like how the "dimple" in the side always screws back together perfectly. Sweet Mint tastes/smells like Mint Treat biscuits! I love! Thos are some of my faves so I'm pretty delighted by the association. The balm itself - pretty standard lip balm. It doesn't contain petroleum so doesn't create such a thick layer feeling on your lips but I do like it. The mint flavour is a little tingly on my lips and lasts well. I reapply after eating and drinking, and like to sleep with it on too. I'd buy it again, the packaging and flavours set it apart from your average balm.

Tips: If you're in Auckland, head to Martha's Backyard in Mt Wellington to pick some up for $8.50 (they sell online also).

"What is that?"

... Is typically the response I get when I pull out my EOS lipbalm. The round ball, hard shell packaging and bright colours in the range, of course this lipbalm is a stand out and I'm quite surprised that many dont know about it.

Well I need to you that you need EOS lipbalm in your life. Its definitely the lipbalm with a difference. Its got character in its unique style of packaging, its smells and tastes amazing (yes I lick my lips dont judge me..) and its definitely one of the better better lipbalms on the market.

I have dry lips and this lipbalm comes to my rescue each and everytime. Not only does it provide my lips with the immediate relief of moisture but that moisture hangs around alot longer than other lipbalms I find.

Ooooh the best part... This lipbalm is wonderful for lazy people like me. The ball shape means you only have to put the balm between both lips (such if its raunchy but I have no other ideas how to describe it) and roll around once and you're done. No more back and forth swiping motions like the conventional lip balm.

I would recommend this anybody... dry lips or not you need this amazing lipbalm in your life.

Tips: The fact that this lipbalm is all natural should excite everybody so try it!

Smooth strawberries

I have the Strawberry Sorbet flavour of the EOS lip balm and it is seriously so so good.

The packaging is cute it's like hard plastic with soft rubber covering the outside of it. some would think it's impractical for me it's perfect why? Why would one want something quite big and bulky?? Well all of my life my lip balm is like bobby pins one day I have 15327 of them the next day there are none and of course it is when you have dry sore lips and you NEED lip balm. So I have figured it's harder to lose them if they are a bit bigger and so far so good.

So the scent of strawberry sorbet is sweet and strawberry. I love the smell of it so much I just want to bite the pretty lil egg shaped balm and eat it!!

It's a very creamy balm once applied my lips feel moisturised and soft. And stay like this a hours although I probably apply it more often than is actually required but it's just so good.

For a start when I first went to apply it I was like how the heck do you put this on?! I tried to use it like a lipstick yeah well that was a mission so now I keep my mouth closed and use it like you would a Chapstick. In my defence the first time I opened it, it did look like it would go all over my lips and half my face if I tried to apply with my mouth closed quite deceiving really. I also love EOS because this is 95% organic and 100% natural. Can't wait to try the other flavours

Haha thanks Koni glad you had a giggle :) this lip balm is taking me forever to get through I feel like I've barely worn it down. But yes good point I guess a brush or finger. I actually think I will still have it and it won't be lost. Hurrah!!

Had a good laugh reading your review Bex! Just curious, when you've flatten the egg-shape of the balm I assume we'll have to use our finger or brush to get to the rest?

Quirky Lip Balm

I was lucky enough to be gifted a twin pack of EOS Lip Balm. One is Passion fruit and the other Watermelon.

I love the unique egg-shaped packaging which has little indents for easy opening. You simply twist off the top (which does lock back in to place when closing). You are then greeted with a circular shaped lip balm that smells amazing! The shape of EOS Lip Balm makes for easy and quick application.

The Passion fruit Lip Balm is in a lavender coloured container and watermelon is in a dark pink container. The Lip Balm itself is a smooth looking, lemon colour - and this is the same for both flavours.

EOS Lip Balm contains only natural ingredients, is gluten free and not tested on animals.

I think using EOS Lip Balm is a real novelty and I don't own anything else like it. And I like the fact it really brings moisture to my lips.

The packaging is not shaped to put in your pocket but easy enough to carry in your handbag.

an overhyped classic

a few years ago i managed to get one and i found it did its job but did the bare minimum, it only kept my lips moist for about an hour or less. the smell was really nice however, and the cute packaging is always a plus

Adorable, but...

A friend brought me back one of these from a trip to America, and I was literally so excited to try it out. I got the flavour/scent Pomegranate Raspberry, which smells and even tastes amazing.

In terms of packaging, I love how easy these are to apply - no fiddling around with screw-up tubes or having to dip your finger into a pot. The downside, obviously, is that it's quite a bulky container, and not something you can just chuck in your jeans pocket, you really have to keep it in a handbag or something similar for on the go.

Although I love how cute and nice-smelling/tasting this product is, I'm really not impressed with the lasting power/effectiveness. I find I have to reapply this very often compared to my other lipbalms, and it doesn't leave my lips feeling in any way moisturised/nourished once it has worn off. Obviously it's just a balm, not a treatment, but I think that even a balm should leave your lips in a slightly better condition than they were before applying.

Overall, I probably would purchase a few different flavours of these if I was in the states - they're about $4 there, I think. I think they're cute and fun, just not particularly effective, so I wouldn't pay $10 upwards to get them online.

Been considering trying these for a while but if it doesn't really do anything moisture wise I might have to re-think. Thanks for the review :)

Thanks a bunch, I need lasting power in a lip balm because mine also get very dry. I was going to go and spend money on shipping and all that rubbish for these but I think I'll stick to my petrol station purchased chap-stick.

They're definitely worth a try! And I like them for everyday, just not when my lips are really dry, like when I've got a cold. But they are adorable... and such yummy sounding flavours! :)
