Mask of Magnamity was my first ever Lush purchase and still remains one of my most-favourite. It's deep-cleaning claims sounded just what I needed for my acne-prone, oily skin and I love a good clay mask.
It comes packaged in the trademark Lush black pottle. For those unfamiliar with them they have a secure screw-top lid which is great for protecting the mask from moisture and air if you store them in the bathroom. The tub is a generous size and contains a whopping amount of product, I didn't manage to get through mine before it expired. I actually used it for some time after it expired without any detrimental results, just keep an eye on it and if it looks funky, biff it!
The mask itself is thick and green, with a rough texture and a nice minty smell. When applied it has an immediate cooling sensation which is refreshing, but this isn't a mask for sensitive skin. You can definately feel it working away as it tingles, deep-cleaning the skin and drawing all the gunk away. I leave it on until I feel it's dried, then rinse it off with warm water and a facecloth. I like to apply at night, then use a serum afterwards and I wake up with glowing, visibly clearer skin.
I'm not currently using this as i'm working my way through my Tailor mask and I don't like to use more than one clay mask at a time due to the expiry on the products. I would really recommend this for any acne-prone girl, but I've told friends with good or sensitive skin to stay clear as it can feel quite harsh on the skin.
I used the Lush Mask of Magnaminty for two years whilst suffering from hormonal break outs and full blown acne. There was nothing I could do to stop the blemishes forming, but the Mask of Magnaminty did a brilliant job at significantly minimising the blemishes and hurrying them along. I have tried many face masks, and this one has the fastest, most visible results.
The mask itself is thick, green and rough. It spreads reasonably easily over the face, but it does use quite a bit of product because of its thickness. This isn't a gentle mask, as the peppermint can be a little overwhelming. It's incredibly cooling and cleansing, but back away now if you have sensitive skin. I leave this mask on for 5-10 minutes, but it isn't a mask you can sit back, relax and forget about. However, it is incredibly effective. I rinse the mask off with warm water and a face cloth and my blemishes are instantly smaller, my pores are tiny and my skin feels fresh and smooth. This mask beats Glamglow, and every other mask I have tried for shrinking blemishes. Lastly, this is from Lush, so it is handmade, cruelty free and has no nasties.
I recommend this mask to anyone with break outs or acne, but not sensitive skin. It would also give anyone's skin a deep clean, but other than deep cleaned skin, it would have no other benefit for someone without blemishes. I personally no longer use this mask, simply because I rarely breakout and this mask does expire, so I don't have get enough use from it.
Tips: If you only break out in a certain area, apply this mask to that area rather than the whole face twice a week, and to the whole face once a week, to save product. Also save your empty pottles to get a free face mask.
