Yay, gel done at home

I was a bit dubious that these polishes would live up to salon quality gel but was pleasantly surprised, and I now own nearly half the colour range! ha ha.

I love the double brush for applying the polish, makes it super quick and easy to put on. Took a little practice to get the neat lines that the salons get, but I have got there now and love it. I am not too hard on my hands and found that it lasted a week, with care before chips started to show. I love how glossy the colours are, especially with the top coat.

Tips: I have found the darker colours still stain my nails though due to no separate base coat - be aware this might happen to you. Keep some lemons handy to remove the stains after you remove the polish.

Salon quality nails at home

I loved the gel look that was previously only available at a salon or if you had a LED light. The idea of getting a gel quality result without the LED light or salon sounded to good to be true. But as I found out was great. I loved the look and easy application. The colour was so intense! I had a good 8 different colours as well as the top coat which gives that diamond finish. The only problem I could find with it was that the company itself tests on animals so i gave up all of this brand of cosmetics and no longer use. Which is a shame considering the quality of products available.

Tips: For the perfect salon finish, apply Revlon Gel Top Coat.

awesome

Looking around the vibrant purple colour just jumped out at me, screaming buy me. It is a thin yet easy to apply formula. It was great to get the right amount to apply in a smooth even manner. It did take alot longer to dry which was frustrating, but had a beautiful finish. It lasted about 3 days before i need to reapply. pretty good considering how ruff on my nails. all and all lives up to the hype

Tips: have plenty of time for drying

Note so Gel like

I was thinking from the hype that Gel Envy would be amazing. I like the vibrant shades, but it doesn't have any spectacular lasting power, and it chips very easily, three days was the longest I went without chips, and that was with reapplying the top coat on my second day of wear. Alright to put on, the drying time is not quick, but it does have a nice glossy almost wet look finish.

Tips: Be prepared for a long drying time! A quick coat of the top coat on day two helps prevent chips.

Nothing to envy there!

The name Gel Envy on a nailpolish bottle alongside Revlon....gimme, gimme, gimme! The name drew me right in. I am a sucker for a gel polish because I know the stay power of competition polishes. The design of the bottle and the lack of graphics threw me off a bit but I wasn't going to let a boring and square bottle get in the way of me having perfect polish for longer than three days.

I have the shade lady luck. The texture is far less thicker than I am used to so felt a bit skeptical that the stay power was going to be there with such a thin polish. I applied two coats as I normally would and then the top diamond polish to finish it off. Normally I would go and do things and bump it or chip it off but this time I was determined to stay put until it was good and dry. Ten minutes passed and it was touch dry. Not even 24 hours in and I had my first chip and flake. Where was the stay power I thought to myself? Have I been ripped off? I trudged on wanting to give it a good go before making my mind up to hate them. Three days in, flaking, chips and scratches. Ok I admit it I am a farmers wife so help on the farm alot but I have more success with other competition gel polishes after only three days!

I gave it a few more goes with the same results. It's stay power is clearly not there and $20 for something that I could get from the $2 shop is pitiful. I did everything right from waiting until it was properly dry and drying it out in the sun to wearing gloves to protect them from chipping whilst milking but no, still no good. I am highly disappointed that a great brand like Revlon has a poor quality polish. It's a shame because I really wanted to love it.

Tips: Dry it in the sun for as long as possible to avoid chipping or scratching prematurely

Easy solution for a chronic nail chipper!

Normally I chip nails within hours of applying polish, so when I saw Revlon's new line of seemingly invincibly polish, I was sceptical but I HAD to try it. Application was simple, the formula was a little thinner than I'm used to, but only two coats of colour were required, and the thinner polish meant it dried faster too. Among other difficulties I have with painting my nails, I tend to bump top coats before they dry, ruining the smooth finish I want. As to be expected, I did this with the gel envy diamond top coat, but like some sort of cosmetic miracle, it almost completely smoothed itself out as it dried! Wear time is good, I work in retail, and as such work can get quite hands on when unpacking stock and such. If I haven't chipped a nail by my next work shift, then I'll definitely chip it at work. No longer an issue it seems, with the diamond top coat to the rescue, not a chip or crack in sight after 5 days (new personal best for me)! I have a feeling regrowth will be more of a problem for me now. Thank you Revlon, you have given a bare-nailed girl hope in this nail coloured world.

Tips: As with any polish, you're better to apply a couple of thinner layers than lay it on too thick and risk messing it up. If you're like me and struggle to colour between the lines, Id suggest using tape or something because once this stuff is on, it doesn't peel off like some other polishes do. It does come off skin in warm water, but be careful with that as when I tried that it started to pull away from the nail as well. Other than that, this is so simple to use, even I couldn't mess it up!

My need for speed dry!

Ok so obsessive would be a good word to descibe me when it comes to my nails. I use a proper UV gel base for my manicure as my nails are thin and brittle and the gel gives me the strength I need However I am not a fan of UV gel polishes overall so I just do that one step. This is where my LOVE for the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy polishes come in. I like to change my nail colour every couple of days which I can do with these. Most of them are one coat wonders and resist chipping awesomely. I can just paint on the older colour quite happily to get a fresh new look which dries while I send out a few emails. I have most of the collection and I really have nothing bad to say about any of them. If you are time poor but love a good mani these are a product I could recommend all day long!

Tips: As with all polishes - cap the tip by running the brush over the free edge. It helps stop lifting and chipping.

Pretty colours, okay formula

I have a Revlon Colourstay Gel envy Polish in shade 300; All In.

I *love* this shade - it's one of those ones that looks a different colour from every angle; everything from a dark teal to a pinky purple to a blue, all with a bit of shimmer. Therefore, even if it was terrible, I'd still wear it.

The Gel Formula has a lovely finish to it. It goes on smoothly and evenly, assisted by the solid brush. It's a good brush, by the way! Nothing worse than spindly little brushes when you're trying to apply whole-nail polish and this is a good, wide, solid version.

The polish sets reasonably well ( I always top coat it though, which helps) but it isn't the speediest, so be warned if you're someone who can't sit still for ages.

The finish is gorgeously glossy, with that 'gel' look - a little wet, and shiny. Unfortunately, on me, it does still chip. Admittedly I use my hands a LOT between work, netball, home, the gym etc but I was hoping this range would be a magic cure all for that and it isn't. It lasts *okay*, don't get me wrong, but seeing as the bottle claims that it is longwear I did expect better... especially for the price.

Such a disappointment

I really didn't like these nail polishes. I was super hyped to try them, but they felt just like regular nail polish and chipped the following day.

I found them no longer wearing than regular polish, despite following the directions for use precisely. Wouldn't purchase them again and am disappointed with how much I paid for them given they're not better than normal nail polish.

Worth a try

These Revlon Gels came out o special so I thought I would give them a try. With clean and dry nails I set to. You dont need a base coat as it is in the colour. I did 2 colour coats which I found went on easily and smoothly. I let it dry for about 20 mins between coats and then applied the top coat. The result was a "salon" look finish. I was very happy with the result. Now the test of time. I work full time in a retail environment so I have hard working hands. I found the gel llasted abut 1 week which is better than an enamel . I am yet to find a gel that can go the distance of 2 weeks but with this Revlon gel, I was reasonably happy. I would use it again.

Tips: You can apply another top coat a few days later to freshen up the shine.
