MAC all the way

Before I came across MAC I always struggled to find the right foundation and powder. When I decided to really look into it, I found MAC - a little more pricey than what I was used to but it's so worth it. I use the foundation version of this, and this together, and it is AMAZING - great coverage and looks flawless

Tips: Use a foundation brush, and get the MAC make up artists to test the products on you to find the right colour!

Best Powder

I use this as my every day Powder to set my foundation. I know that this is a Foundation in itself, but it really is Amazing as a Powder also. You don't need much. I find that it fills in the texture and pores on my face and creates a smooth finish! It really is Awesome!

mac

this powder is so great i use it if i just want some lite coverage ontop of a bb cream or i can use it on my mac studio sculpt foundation for a more full cover i am in the shade nw15 and it is the most perfect shade for me i also love it for a touch up powder as it looks like ive put a hole new face of makeup on again !

Tips: i use a kabuki brush but on the go the sponge works well by dapping onto skin not rubbing

Great product!

I first bought this about 2 years ago on holiday and have been buying it regularly ever since. It is great as a finishing powder on top of foundation or just as a bit of coverage when you don't feel like wearing much. I apply it with the MAC 167SE brush which makes it a lot easier to apply and to get the powder on evenly and smoothly rather than the sponge that comes with it.

Tips: Try using BB cream or something similar underneath the powder for better coverage without looking like you have a tonne of foundation on, or use it on top of foundation for full coverage.

Trial and Error!

I am a huge fan of MAC products but I admit when I first started using this, I was really disapointed!

I had previously used the Studio Fix Fluid and when I asked my darling other half if he would kindly bring some with him next time he came to visit, he accidently bought me this instead.

It comes in a powder compact with sponge and mirror. Like other MAC compacts, the packing is your classic black, sleek and sturdy so good for chucking in the handbag for touch-ups.

I applied it using the sponge provided and found it did indeed give a matte, full-coverage finish on my oily, acne-prone skin. However, I went back a little while later to check my make-up and saw to my horror that instead of a flawless finish, my skin looked cakey and dry, showcasing my pores and uneven skin! I later tried again on freshly moisturised, primed skin with the same effect and was heavily disapointed.

I resigned myself to using it instead as a finishing product over BB cream or foundation, for a completely flawless, full-coverage look. For this, I applied it using a kabuki brush, which allowed me to lightly swirl the product over the skin, leaving the sponge for touch-ups during the day.

I later decided though that I was determined to make this work for me, and experimented a little with application. Success! I found that it WAS possible for me to use the Powder plus Foundation alone as a foundation by applying it with the kabuki brush instead of the sponge, which created a light-medium coverage as it was buildable, perfect for everyday wear. I also discovered that using it with a dampened blending sponge (I have the Real Techniques one) I was able to create a more full coverage look without the cakiness.

I am really happy that I played around with this as it is slowly becoming a staple in my makeup collection, it's a prime example of using a product in a way that works for you. I do recommend this if you're wanting a compact foundation that provides full coverage, I will definately put this on the repurchase list!

Tips: If you're experiencing cakiness, be sure to first apply a primer over moisturised skin, and then try changing how you are applying the product. I found that the provided sponge created a cakey effect on my skin, while a kabuki brush or damp beauty blender worked much better for me!

One of my essential items!

I use this powder daily in conjunction with my BB cream (Maybelline Dream Pure) or on its own. I don't like to wear heavy make up as foundation has a tendency to cause me breakouts but I still like to have a light coverage to even up my skin tone and hide minor blemishes. I absolutely love this product and always stock-up at Duty Free where possible!

I apply mine with a powder brush and I find this gives me the light coverage I need and also uses the product sparingly. A compact typically lasts me approximately 6 months. If I need heavier coverage I use the sponge to concentrate the product in that area. I love the ease of applying this powder with a brush, it is fool proof and similar to mineral foundations you can build up the coverage to an extent. I also like that the finish does not give you a heavily, powdered/ caked look.

Tips: Apply with a powder brush as I find it gives a lighter finish versus using the sponge which applies it more heavily. Using a brush also allows it to last a long time!

Cakey

The only time I ever use this powder is over a light coverage dewy foundation or a BB cream in the summer time. I would never use this as a setting powder for foundation as it cakes up so much and goes all patchy and weird. It definitely clings to dry patches if I haven't moisturised enough. I don't think using it to set foundation is it's purpose because it is a powder FOUNDATION itself, not a setting powder.

Good

I use this over my foundation as a finishing powder. If used straight on my skin then it feels dry & dehydrated. Also the application sponge thing can apply it quite heavily and unevenly which I don't like. Great as a finishing powder over foundation & I was able to find the perfect colour for my extremely pale skin which was great too

Tips: Apply with a thick powder brush for an flawless finish

Long Lasting

I got this powder 8 months ago and 8 months later I still have it. I apply it on top on my foundation (which is also Studio Fix) using a kabuki brush, so don't use much as all.

You might think that $64 is a bit pricey but when you think about how long it lasts, the price isn't too bad at all.

My only concern is that it does show up your pores and fine lines if not applying it properly, so make sure you blend :o)

Cakey

A lot of people are saying they use this powder to set their foundation, when I do this I end up with cakey skin and makeup that doesn't last long! Slides off.

Their are a large variety of shades in this product which is a big plus, however the NC and NW aspect can get confusing! A lot of people love this powder foundation but it is just not compatible with my skin unfortonately!! I prefer revlon Photoready as I have oily skin.

Tips: Get matched at a counter
