MAC Prep + Prime Skin Review

I've tried many primers ranging from $10-$70 and this is the best primer I have ever used. Priming the skin is a must, if you think about it your face is like a canvas, and before painting a canvas you need to prepare it before you start painting away.

It comes in a pump bottle and one pump is the perfect amount to apply to your whole face and jawline. The formula is thick and creamy, once you apply this to your skin it leaves an oil free dewy finish. After that you can use powder or liquid foundation it's very versatile.

It makes my skin feel smoother and applying foundation after priming my face is a much easier task. It also makes the foundation stick to my skin easier and it doesn't make the foundation soak into the skin.

I've recommended this primer to many family and friends and they love this, maybe even more than I do, it's worth the money and lasts you a long time.

I love this. The price here in New Zealand is a bit pricey (so I get mine from the USA using Youshop), however for the price you pay, and the length of time it lasts, you definitely get value for money.

I typically find that 1 - 2 pumps of this product is enough for complete coverage of my face. I like the way it seeps in quickly and how it helps to apply my foundation.

I would also say that I am confident that this product definitely helps with the longevity of my foundation.

I recently purchased another brand of primer however unfortunately for me, it wasn't as good as the prep and prime...as soon as this primer has run out, I will definitely be repurchasing this one

I purchased this after being a user of Napoleon Auto Pilot and found this product lovely. A little goes a long way and it kept my foundation even for the whole day.

It is an expensive primer in NZ but I do feel you get what you pay for!

Honestly this is the first primer I have ever used and it was given to me by my sister. I have been using it for about 4 months and on the odd occassion I have forgotten to put it on before my fondation I have really noticed the difference in the texture of my face and how my foundation sits on my face. I use foundation every week day for work and with the prep′ it leave a silky/satiny feel to my skin and a sligh glitter look. My foundation just glides on. I use Eclat Satin by Christian Dior and it's a dewy finish fondation and the prep′ makes it last all day looking amazing. I have even had people comment that I'm glowing, with one person saying that I'm sparkling. You don't need to use a lot, and by this I mean only one pump will cover your face as it spread really well. It doesn't have a scent that I've noticed. I have the one for normal skin. I also put it on my eye area and it keeps my eye makeup in place all day especially when I use powder eye shadow. I have thought about trying other primers but really love how this one makes me look and feel. I will definitly be buying it again when it runs out. I've checked the price at the MAC store in Auckland central and it is pricy but it lasts ages and really does make a difference to my make up look.

My first and one and only primer! I am a MAC addict so of course couldn't wait to try this out. I have had the same 30ml pottle for coming up 9 months now and am just about to run out..a little goes a long way! I only use one pump most days with more dryer skin days needing 2 pumps. Makes my studio sculpt foundation nice and dewy and stay put all day long

This is my all time number 1 primer. Its was love at first use.

I have tried many other primers from all different brands and all different prices, and this one really dose stand out. The price is ok compared to other primer/ pretty much is the same to other Middle end make up brands that I have used. To me I don't have a problem pay $56 as it dose seem to last me a very long time as a little will get you a long way.

The packaging is very sleek and I find it quite pretty as it has flecks of glitter mixed in with the Black. The primer is very easy to carry around or pack if you are travelling.

I use one pump or half a pump which will cover my whole face and it will give it a good enough cover all over. The Primer itself is a nice medium texture (not thick or runny) and it is very easy to apply over your face. The primer itself has very fine glitter specs into, which gives its a nice light shimmer (nothing crazy tho! So it will not show up under your foundation) The primer is very hydrating and makes your foundation go on very smooth, Once you have use this you will understand what im talking about :)

I love love love this primer. I have quite a stash of primers at home because I buy them and find them too thick and heavy or they just don't do what I want them to do so I had basically given up on priming but then I got given this as a gift and it has changed my make up life!

It is super hydrating which I find great as I use the Mac Studio Fix Foundation and find that can be a little drying. It goes on really easily and makes my make up last all day!

It is quite pricey here in NZ but in saying that you only need the smallest amount so the bottle lasts quite a long time. I have had mine about 3-4 months and it still feels at least half full.

It also smells really nice unlike some I have had and has really cute packaging.

All in all it is a wicked product!

L-O-V-E this primer,

it's so great, the packaging is MAC signature, black and white text with box. this tube has a sparkle to it which is super exciting.

it has a press down pump which gives you the correct amount, I usually use 2x pumps (1 pump for each side of my face) but you could use 1x if you prefer.

I apply with either my finger tips or a brush (190 mac foundation brush) over my spf moisturiser

The actual product is a white lotion semi thick type of texture, which has a sparkle to it, hence the sparkle design of the packaging.

this product lasts me a good 3 months and I use it daily

I wear this under foundation and then apply a loose powder on top, I don't have redness in my skin so I'm not sure if this covers the red I do however have SUPER oily skin and find this really does help with oil and it also makes me skin feel smooth to the touch

I am a big fan of this primer! I wasn't generally a primer kind of gal having tried so many that broke me out and left my skin feeling sticky but I was convinced by the very pretty sales girl at MAC that I needed it to go with my foundation. I got home and despaired that I had bought something so expensive that I would never use but I was so wrong! Not only do I use this under my MAC foundation but I also use it under my Lancome and even my True Match. It makes everything look so flawless! The product is reasonably thin and comes out the consistency of a day lotion or moisturiser. There is a slight shimmer in the primer but it doesn't make the skin glittery or sweaty looking. The primer smoothes over the skin beautifully and blends well into the skin without feeling like it's disappearing. My makeup glides on smoothly and lasts all day! I use 1 to 2 pumps and I have had mine for sooooooooooooooooo long and it's still going strong. 100% worth the money! I am now TOTALLY a primer gal

I have only just discovered this product recently. I had never heard of this before and didn't know what it was for. I went into a MAC shop overseas and they applied it before the foundation and it left my skin with a totally different feel to it than just applying foundation by itself. It left my skin feeling silky smooth, felt really nice. I found it easier to apply foundation over this. the bottle seems to last forever as you only need one squirt and that is enough to cover the whole face. I will definitely be buying more (if this bottle ever runs out).
