MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Review

I purchased MAC Fix+ over 6 months ago, and it has spent its life so far at the bottom of my drawer. After finally pulling it out and putting it to use I was kicking myself for not using it earlier. I wear full coverage makeup on a daily basis. I use Loreal True Match liquid foundation, MAC pro-longwear concealer under my eyes and my whole face is finished off with Australis Fresh and Flawless powder. This combination of products isn't intended to give a natural finish, but I also don't want to look cakey. There have been many occasions where I look cakey, almost like I have some scary skin disease I am hiding underneath it all.

MAC Fix+ is the final step in my makeup routine. If I am needing my makeup to really last, I will spray the Skindinavia setting spray first, followed by MAC Fix +. The spray does give you a little fright at first, as it feels like you have squirted a whole lot of water on your face, rather than a mist. However the results are amazing. Any powdery finish or cakeyness is gone, and a fresh, flawless finish is left behind. I don't loose any coverage, but it looks like I have used far less product to achieve a flawless finish. It does take 30 seconds or so for the product to settle, but I couldn't stop staring at my skin when it had. I have combination skin that can get a little oily during the day, and this product is perfect. I wouldn't describe the results as dewy, it just removes any powdery appearance. MAC Fix+ would be the perfect companion for anyone with dry skin.

There are multiple ways to use MAC Fix+. It can be sprayed before and after makeup application, onto foundation brushes and onto eyeshadow brushes to intensify colours. The product is available in full and mini sizes, so if you are unsure about this product the mini would be a great option.

My all time FAVOURITE product :) this literally makes any foundation look amazing with minimal use! Just a few sprays evenly on your face and your skin looks refreshed and foundation just looks better! It smells amazing also which is always a plus for me :) I feel like it's worth the investment and everyone should have one in their make up kit/bag.

I had been dying to try this spray for the last few years but because of the price I never did until 4 months ago. The amount of youtubers that loved this spray made me want it even more and I finally got my hands on some in duty free, for $50 NZ. The packaging is plain and simple, I like how its a see thru bottle so you can see how much your using. When you spray it on your face you feel so refreshed and regenerated from the spray and it smells really good! 'With all the tips and tricks I had read and seen I tried to give them all a go, this was my experience with the Mac fix spray.

I tried spraying my sponge with Mac Fix spray before applying my foundation and it just makes my foundation cakey and doesn't blend well, the same as if I leave the spray until last and spray it after Ive done a full face of makeup. It looks like the 2 separate from each other and every time Ive either used it on a sponge or afterwards Ive had to wipe it all off and start again because it looked horrible. I use Mac prep and prime with Mac pro longwear foundation so I would have thought that because they are from the same company they would work together.

This spray only works if im using NYX HD foundation or wearing BB cream with powder, but the 1 thing I always use this for is turning my eye shadows into liquid liner, it works a treat and you get the right amount of spray out.

I am very disappointed in this spray but I have made it work for other things, it could've been that I got a bad one? I don't know, I still wont give up hope, Im still a big Mac fan!

I love this product and use it most days I apply makeup.

I don't think (for me) Fix + really works as a setting spray and I don't feel it helps my makeup last longer - but that isn't why I use it.

I use Fix + to finish off my makeup and get rid of any excess powder and avoid that 'powdery' look that sometimes happens. It really helps everything to settle down nicely and adds a bit more of a dewy look and adds hydration. I also really like using this after touch ups - e.g come home and do a quick powder and blush touch up before going out for dinner, then add a quick spritz of Fix +. It helps to make my makeup look more refreshed.

I really like the packaging and feel despite it being a plastic container it is still quite sleek and doesn't look or feel cheap. I like the clear bottle as well so I can tell how much is left and repurchase before running out!

I was so excited to buy this spray as I've heard so many youtubers raving about it. Also, I did know that it wasn't really designed to make you makeup last longer, so thankfully that wasn't something I was expecting for it as I have found that it doesn't make any difference to the length of wear. However, it works wonderfully to set down my powder and leave my skin looking more natural and less powdery and dry. It also feels amazing, very hydrating and refreshing, so I do find it to be a luxury product in that it just feels so lovely to use. I also spray it on my brushes if I want to apply eyeshadows wet, and it works exactly as it is supposed to in the regard. I also find it helps stop eyeshadows applied wet from creasing or smudging, which is an issue I have had with other sprays. However, Fix+ is pretty pricey, and I do think there are probably sprays the work just as well for a much more reasonable price. I would buy this again if I couldn't find a more afforable dupe, but it isn't a holy grail product. It's also more of a luxury item than something I need as a staple in my collection.

This product can be used in so many different ways and that it why I love it! It lasts quite along time, two sprays will cover the face, it is a nice applicator (fine mist), smells good, feels super hydrating, and finishes make up beautifully. I use this to lock in moisture before I apply a moisturizer, finish my make up, and application of eye shadow.

For someone like myself with dry skin, this is a must have! My favorite thing about this is that I can use a powder over my foundation without it looking unnatural and dry. It also gives my face a dewy look, but this of course is not for everyone.

This product is a holy grail in the beauty industry and for good reason. It works! I have incredibly dry skin, so it's really important for me to have a hit of moisture to ensure that my makeup goes on smoothly and that once it's on that it stays and looks good. The Fix Plus spray is great as a makeup refresher, to moisten skin before applying makeup and to help blend foundation or wet brushes to apply shadows wet for a more intense and pigmented result. The bottle also lasts forever - so it's definitely worth the $$. I love that the product is so multifaceted and lasts a long time. It also has a very gentle and fresh scent to it. I tend to use it to moisten my skin before applying makeup and then again over my makeup to sort of seal it in place and add a bit of hydration. Overall? A great product and I'd highly recommend. The only reason I won't be repurchasing is because it's not cruelty free and I've recently switched to cruelty free. Alas, I need to finish my stash of MAC and other non cruelty free products - hopefully they will switch to cruelty free again so I can enjoy their brilliant product line!

Ive had this product for quite a while although I haven't used it that much. Its not so amazing that I reach for it every morning I only tend to use it on weekends when I put more effort into my makeup and special events. It IS very hydrating and refreshing no doubt about it but I forget I even have this product. I do carry it around in my kit though for those clients with very dry skin as it works great for them.

I love this spray it is a staple in my kit. I use is before applying makeup, to wet eye shadows, as a after spray for a dewy look. This feels great and is very versatile. If you are worried about spending that much and not liking it. Fix+ now comes in travel size for $15. So go on try it!

I purchased this after reading rave reviews, and noting that a few people on this site mentioned it as a must-have. I was lucky enough to have a friend visit the States and bring one back, so I paid less and didn't pay postage. Which I am now glad for, seeing as the product did not live up to my expectations.

What I was intending to use this for was a setting/finishing spray. And I have dry skin, and love a dewy look, so I thought this would be perfect. Unfortunately, I have found it just doesn't work like that. When I spray it on after applying foundation or powder or both, it makes me looks sweaty, and it makes my makeup last LESS, which is disappointing.

I also have issues with the spray nozzle; so much comes out in one jet, and you have to hold it so far away from your face (arms length), otherwise you get one squirt right to the face in one spot! It doesn't cover your whole face. To rectify this, and try to make a mist, I have taken to spraying it up in the air and walking through the mist cloud/putting my face underneath; but I don't like that I have to do that, as it seems a waste of what is a very expensive product!!

As others have mentioned, I have eventually settled for using this as a face refresher UNDER make up; or as a sealer for applying directly to eyeshadow brushes, for a foiling effect.

I wouldn't repurchase this again, and am still looking for a setting spray/finishing mist.
