MAC Kiss of Stars Lipstick – Kiss of Stars
This all-new Lipstick texture offers an explosion of colour and a glittery finish, with lustrous pearlescent particles that add high shimmer - minus the gritty feel. The Lipstick bullet is embossed with stars and covered in glitter stardust. Specially designed in shiny black packaging with a gradient of multicoloured glitter and the M.A.C logo in rose gold.
This is my first MAC lipstick ever, and this didn't disappoint. The packaging is stunning; the lipstick comes in the classic black bullet but with rose gold writing and a gorgeous gradient of rainbow glitter on the lid. The packaging is so festive and I love the effort that went into it. The shade name is not on the packaging, so I can imagine if you owned several of the holiday collection, it'd be confusing and you'd have to open each lipstick to figure out the shade. The lipstick itself has stars carved into it. It's so beautiful and I've never seen lipsticks have designs embossed into the actual product. The lipstick has a really lovely vanilla cupcake scent to it, that I can smell even when I am wearing it. In the packaging, this appears to to be a dusky pink with an intense silver glitter. When applying this, I found it was more sheer and the pink colour didn't come through much, and more glitter did. This looks amazing on its own and reminds me a lot of 90s style frosted glitter lipstick. I found this could be built up to be more crazy intense, or one coat could be used for less glitter. That being said, this is the level of sparkly not for an everyday look or the faint-hearted. It's definitely not subtle. I like doing out there make up, so I've been enjoying wearing this on its own for super intense glittery lips, but the pink in this is pale enough that this can be worn as a lip topper to add sparkle to any lipstick. This doesn't feel gritty or drying at all unlike most glitter lip products and just feels like a slightly dryer version of a normal cream lipstick. The glitter is long wearing and I've been able to drink while wearing this and it's not displaced. The glitter leans more silver and blue when on and changes colour a bit in different lighting. I was really impressed with how unique this looked, how intense it was, and how long it wears for. I think this is great if you're looking for a more crazy lip colour or a glitter lip topper, but this isn't for you if you want more subtle glitter lips as its definitely quite out there.
