A gem for only $5

When I couldn't afford to restock my makeup after an unfortunate event, I went to the warehouse to purchase some cheap makeup. This is where I found this gem! $5 surely the price tag is wrong? I had used LA Colours makeup before but only generic items. This was my first eyeshadow palette by them. For $5 I was very skeptical but seeing as I couldn't afford anything else this had to do the job.

The case is itself very flimsy and thin but for so cheap I wouldn't expect anything else. The colours are very random but gorgeous. They appeared chalky but in actual fact they are quite buttery and smooth. The pigment is what wins me over every time! I have paid 4 times more for some palettes and they are nowhere near this pigmented! There is next to no fall out when I pick it up with my brush either.....WINNING AT LIFE!!!

Like I said the colours are very random and don't really fit in to the name of smokin. It has everything from green to blue and baby pink. It's not a very cohesive or well thought out colour palette but it in no way takes away from how good they are. I often have to be careful with the darker colours because once applied they are there to stay unless you fancy wiping all of the eye area and starting over with foundation etc.

The colours blend ok-ish. Like I said they tend to stay put and can be hard to blend out to look less mutton dressed as lamb. If you master this part you are good to go!! Move ahead three hours and some has migrated north in to the crease of my lid argh annoying! It's still pretty fierce but I do wish it would stay in place. The next time I tried it with a translucent setting powder and wallah problem solved.....for the most part. If you are on a budget and are a beginner, go for this baby!

Tips: Dust the shadow lightly on the brush because less really is more.

Pigmented at a beaut price

Aswell as purchasing the naturals pallete I also got this one because well? It is $5! These colours are all well Pigmented and blend well using the right brushes. The applicator that comes with this pallete I never use, instead I use them for smudging under the eye or to help smudge in eyeliner ( so don't throw away the applicator hehe ) again this is perfect for beginners as you can practice and practice different looks without spending alot of money. I still use both palletes every now and then because colours are beautiful and pigment is on point for the price, but you will need to do touch ups.

Amazing pigmentation, decent wear time

Seeing how cheap this was I decided to give this a go, thinking I couldn't go wrong. This palette went above and beyond my expectations. The palette comes in an attractive white plastic case with a pretty gold font. It comes with a foam applicator which I find useless for applying the product and I use my own brush with these. There's a generous 16 eyeshadows, they are kind of bright odd colours that don't really work in a palette together and there are no matte shades, so in terms of creating an eye shadow look I need to use this in conjunction with other palettes. The shadows have a zig zag indentation on the surface which does make them look a bit cheap but expected for the price.

The shades are all impressively pigmented and stunning, particularly the greens and purples. The shadows have a buttery texture. I was impressed that they applied really pigmented to the lid, with not too much fallout. I used these with an eyeshadow primer as I do with all eye shadow and I was impressed that they lasted all day with no colour fadage and only minimal creasing on my naturally oily eyelids. I was definitely impressed with these and I reccommend giving this palette a go.

Cheap and cheerful

I was doing some online shopping and randomly decided to look at eyeshadows as I threw all mine out when I had a massive clean out. I spotted this palette and for $5 I thought why not. I don't wear eyeshadow often at all so I wasn't fussed if it just sat around as it was so cheap.

The packaging is simple but does the job.  There are 16 shimmer eyeshadows, with some quite bright and bold colours. I'm not a fan of the applicator that comes with it so I just use my own brushes.  I am definitely a novice at applying eyeshadow but man I can create some great looks from this! I even impressed myself lol.

I pick up a small amount on my brush then give it a tap to get rid of excess product.  Doing it this way I get no fallout at all. These are smooth and buttery which I love. So highly pigmented and have such a beautiful shimmer. I have blue eyes and these colours really make my eyes pop.

I do not use primer but these stay put on my lids for a long time, such an amazing palette especially for beginners like me. It is also really compact and sturdy and great to travel with. I would happily repurchase this. Give it a go!

Cheepie but a goodie

Dont let the cheep price fool you. This baby has some colour payoff!! Slight fallout, and alot of shimmer shades but they blend well and I find them great to incorporate for a fun weekend look. The purples are my favorites and they dont stain so a plus in my books. I still have this and I use it fairly regularly. Definitely recommend.... with your own brushes.

Tips: Avoid the applicator and use with your own brushes

I'm not keen :(

The colours tend to have a tonne of fallout and it makes a mess everywhere. They were hard to use and didn't pick up on the brush too easily. The palette quickly started to look ruined and I don't usually have that problem especially from such limited use. I wouldn't buy this again just because it kinda reminds me of those makeup palettes you used to get with bratz dolls. The pinky/purple shade is a good one however the lack of mattes and the fallout thing is a big issue for me which is sad. I think this would be a pretty alright palette for someone just looking to experiment without spending a fortune.
