My hair is naturally dark but I have been getting a blonde bayalage, so my hair was light enough to use this dye. But I do not recommend this because it came out abit orange, I did put a blue toner shampoo in right after and it kind of helped but to be honest, it did not lighten my hair at all, it just brightened the blonde a bit with the brass. It's not that bad, that I just want to wear a hat or go dye it darker, I will just keep toning it.

This is currently my go-to shade and brand for lightening my hair. My hair is light brown to dark blonde, so it takes this particular shade well. Any shade darker than brown is not recommended.
This hair colour in the Preference range is easy to use. It comes with very clear instructions, both for colouring for the first time, and for touching up roots. For lightening the hair the Very Platinum shade come with both an activating powder, and a lightening cream, to add into the developer crème. A pair of rubber gloves and a brass-defying conditioner are also included.
The lightening cream and activating powder are both easy to mix into the developer crème, you just need a pair of scissors to open up the powder. Once they are pored into the crème, you need to give the bottle several shakes to mix the three together.
The dye is easy to apply to your hair with the developer crème’s narrow nozzle. However, the colour goes on white, so it can be hard to tell where you have already applied it to your hair if your hair is already pale. If you are colouring all of your hair for the first time, you may need more than one bottle if your hair is long or thick.
I find that the colour lasts pretty well and does not go too brassy or yellow quickly. The brass-defying conditioner that it comes with is purple-toned, and it is recommended that you use it weekly. It seems to help with the hair colour retaining its cooler shades. Although lightening my hair does dry it out, I find that this hair colour mitigates the damage somewhat by moisturising it, so it ends up not being too dried out.
This is definitely one of the best at home lightening hair dyes that I have tried.
Tips: Use the gloves provided, and protect your shoulders with a towel.
Anything with a blue Blonde powder to add to it is a bleach & so you have to expect it to come out a bit brassy.. this is no exception. But it does lift your hair as a bleach does and comes out a very bright blonde & if you use a good purple shampoo & tone out the brass it leave you with a very beautiful very light blonde.
Tips: Don't let your dark roots get too long if you catch them at about 1 cm you can dye them out & they do lift. Use a good purple shampoo & they'll blend in perfectly.
