They really missed the mark with this one...

First of all the shade selection is very limited and the undertones are just, I dunno, too strong(?), the pink undertones and VERY pink and the yellow undertones are so yellow they're almost orange. I went with a yellow undertoned as I usually do but unless Im fake tanned I find myself mixing it with another foundation just so I dont look like I just walked out of Willy Wonka's Choc Factory.

The consistency is quite thick and I didn't find it very easy to blend - I had to use about twice as much as I would normally just to get even coverage all over.

The matte finish is nice(not super matte but nice) and it is long lasting (definitely not 24hr though, more like 5-8) but given some places are charging $45 for it - I'd rather spend the extra $30 and get something high end that will last me twice as long.

Tips: Definitely recommend a primer to help blend out the foundation if you're game enough to try it.

Matte Foundation

I choose this foundation as a full coverage foundation (even though it says medium on it, it's as full coverage as my previous full coverage foundation). What I was looking for, was something that was long lasting, had good coverage and was paraben free. This foundation ticked all these boxes.

I chose the matte tube over the pump version, because I was a bit over uncooperative pump bottles and I prefer a matte foundation.

I apply with either my fingers or my artiste foundation blurring brush. Both get a good long lasting coverage, but I think the brush does it slightly better.

Overall the foundation doesn't cake and lasts all day, but you do need to set it to keep it in place all day.

The tube it comes in has a fine tipped nozzle at the end which gives controlled amounts of foundation. What I don't like about the tube, is that I can't see how much foundation is left.

I also found all the shades available really similar to each other and they all seemed to be in the light/medium to medium/dark range, they didn't seem to really cater for light or dark skin.

New HG

I've just gone on maternity leave and decided earlier this year that I needed to find a cheaper foundation than the double wear I use almost daily. My sister recommended this and I am absolutely in love with it! Not only can I pick it up cheap for almost a quarter of the price online it matches my.skin tone even better than my double wear and it blends like a dream! The colour is perfect, price is right, long lasting (albeit not quite as well as my DW), blends well, I am so impressed!

Hit and Miss

This foundation seems to either be loved or hated by everyone that tries it. Sadly for me I hated it. First off, for a drug store foundation I thought it was super pricey. Add a few dollars on and I could've purchased something high end. The packaging was a bit cheap, but I never have liked foundations in squeezy tubes. I purchased this foundation because of all the positive hype about it, which was a big mistake.

The consistency was very thick, almost moussey, but the finish was quite nice. However for something that claimed to be a '24 hour foundation' it barely lasted 4 hours on my skin, even with and primer and when set with a powder.

The thing I hated the most about this foundation though was the colour. I got Vanilla/11 which is the lightest shade available in NZ. Straight from application it was so so pink toned. I am yellow toned, but this was so pink I'm not sure it would even look normal on a pink-toned person. After a few hours of wear it oxidised from the pink to a very patchy orange, and I actually stopped what I was doing to come home and take it off.

I just think that when charging almost $40 for a drug store foundation, there should at least be a more wearable shade range. And I know all brands dramatise the length of wearability, but putting the 24 hour claim on a foundation that didn't even manage to last 1/4 of the time is just awful.

Bitterly disappointed

I bought this as I'd heard so many great things about it - woohoo!! 24 hour foundation?! How could I not?! I spent a lot of time in the shop finding the right colour. I finally picked it and went home to try it on. Except, the colour changed after I put it on. It went very, very orange. Yet, in the store, it was a perfect colour. It was also really uncomfortable to wear, it felt heavy. And I ended up throwing away the bottle after a week or so.

Love this stuff!

This really works! I have combination and sensitive skin and it goes on so nicely and lasts all day at work. I find my skin does have to be well moisturised and I think it goes on best with a damp sponge like a beauty blender, otherwise it's a bit too thick. It's easier to sheer out slightly with a sponge. It just stays on so well for me. I hope it doesn't get discontinued! This has happened to me a few times....

Tips: Use a slightly "wet" or "tacky" feeling moisturiser first rather than one with a fryish or matte finish, it provides a good surface.

Looks great but easily cakey

This is very matte and full coverage. It looks great, but does become cakey easily. I does last well during the day and I don't need to apply powder as often as with other foundations.

Good coverage, bad colour range

This is a super great foundation for oily skinned people that want a fuller coverage, even though it is matte I always set it with a powder to make it last even longer. the packaging is great, it makes it hygienic and easy to use, it also means you can get every last but of product. The one thing I didn't like about this product was the colour range, I haven't been able to find my perfect match, I don't feel like they have enough colours out, and they don't have a wide range of undertones either.

Please bring this to NZ in a lighter shade!

I love this foundation so much! It is everything a person with oily/combination skin would want in a drugstore foundation. It comes in a plastic bottle that is great for travelling with. It has a fine-tipped nozzle that makes it easy to control how much product you squeeze out.

The coverage of this foundation is medium according to the packaging, but it is not far off being full. However it doesn't feel cakey at all. In fact it feels quite lightweight when I apply it with a beautyblender. Usually it takes only an hour before my nose starts to get a bit oily, but with this foundation it takes nearly the whole day before I start to look even a little bit oily. It lasts very well when I wear it, and it doesn't fade or appear patchy. I still set this foundation with a powder though.

My only problem with this foundation is that the lightest shade they stock in New Zealand is too dark for my very pale skin. I currently have the shade Vanilla, but I know that they sell an even lighter shade in other countries. If they stocked the shade Porcelain here, I would be over the moon with joy! At the moment I can only use this foundation if I have fake tanned or if I mix it with a lighter colour.

I really hope that with winter coming up that L'Oreal will consider stocking this foundation in the lighter shade. If they did I would update this review to 5/5 because that is the only thing preventing me from leaving a perfect review.
