Use the L'Oreal Paris Lip Liner Magique to line the lip contours, which helps prevent the lipstick from bleeding. The Lip Liner Magique is transparent, so can be used with any lipstick shade to prep the lips for colour. You can also use the product across the entire lip as a primer before applying your chosen shade.

Confusing packaging

This definitely works well! I love that it is transluscent, meaning I can use it with any lippie. It glides on smoothly and definitely helps lock in my bright lipsticks.

But. I don't know how to access the entire stick of product!!! I thought it was a retractable pencil, but nope. So the next solution would be to sharpen it - but the stick/casing is made of plastic... surely I'm not meant to sharpen plastic?

I've since been avoiding using it until I can figure out this dilemma :-(

Useful but doesn't last

Being a transparent lip liner, it's great that this pencil can be used with a variety of colours and lip shades, making it very versatile. It glides on easily and looks great. My only problem was that it didn't last very long compared to other pencils I've used so isn't great for a full day. Powder applied on top did seem to make it last a little bit longer, though. Overall, great if you only want to have one lip liner but not recommended for all day wear.

I wish this was a retractable pencil

I like transparent lip liners. That means that you can use them with any colour lipstick without having to match the liner to the lip colour. I have tried several different kinds over the years, but they are not that easy to find.

This one by L’Oreal comes in pencil form. It is not a retractable pencil; it is one that you have to sharpen with a pencil sharpener. The body of the pencil is a muted gold colour, with a white plastic tip on the end to indicate that the pencil lead is white in colour. It has a clear lid so you can see what colour the pencil lead is as well. The lead of the pencil is white, but it goes on clear. The wood of the pencil is black.

The lip liner is easy to apply. Because it goes on clear you do not need to be very precise with the line. It is very soft and has no discernible scent. I prefer moisturising lipsticks with a satin finish, and I find that the more moisturising lipsticks have a greater tendency to bleed. This liner works well in stopping lip colour from bleeding around my mouth.

The one drawback is that this is not the easiest pencil to sharpen. The lead is very soft, while the wood is very tough. I have tried it with several sharpeners, but I still find that I have to sharpen it quite a few times before I am able to get a usable tip. The wood is not easy to break down, and once you have reduced it, often the tip of the pencil will break off, meaning you have to sharpen it again before you can use it. Apart from that it is a good pencil. I just wish they made a retractable version instead!

Could be better

I bought this because most of my lipsticks feathered, and I wanted a universal lip liner. It was ok, it didn't exactly work the best. And if you try and sharpen it, it snaps and you have to keep trying to sharpen it again, and it will just keep snapping. In the end it wasn't worth using.
