Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon

If you love the smell of watermelon, then you will love this product - it smells devine! AND, it also works. I have medium thickness long hair and my daughters have thick long hair and thin long hair - but this product is really nice on all of us. It leaves our hair shiny, soft and smelling gorgeous. We have all used it as both a conditioner in the shower and a leave in conditioner as well. Great product.

I absolutely love this stuff! it smells so good and it’s super hydrating. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and looks nice and shiny! I also use it as my conditioner on days that i don’t have time to let it soak in like a mask. I wouldn’t say it’s volumising as per say but it definitely doesn’t weigh the hair down as some hair masks tend to do.

I was lucky enough to be invited to trial both this product and the matching shampoo bar. I'm quite conflicted, as the shampoo bar sells itself as being a product that is environmentally friendly, with no plastic packaging, yet the matching conditioner comes in a whopping great plastic pot. I intensely disliked the packaging on the conditioner as it's too big and very clumsy to use in the shower. you need 2 hands to screw the lid back on after use. A conditioner bar is what Garenir should have produced rather than this.

I think value-wise it's good, as you only really need a small amount of product. I definitely prefer the scent of this to the shampoo bat but I still didn't love it. As I mentioned in my shampoo bat review, my hair felt dry and there were a lot of flyaways which makes me disinclined to ever purchase this product. It was nice to be selected to trial both these products but I did not enjoy them and they did not suit my hair at all.

I trialed this a couple of ways, firstly combined with the watermelon shampoo bar. I felt that this was the way that it worked the best. I usually always have to use leave in conditioner to comb my hair after I shower but after I washed with the shampoo bar and conditioned with the hair food my hair felt super nice and easy to comb! I definitely noticed extra volume after it was dry and my natural wave was nice (my hair is very fine so it does crazy things when I wash it sometimes).

I also tried it just as a conditioner without the shampoo and that was definitely good too (as I don’t shampoo every day). I would happily use this as my day to day conditioner. I usually leave it in for closer to the 3 minutes that is recommended when using it as a treatment. I thought that maybe because it can be used as a treatment, just using as a conditioner my be too heavy but it didn’t weight my hair down.

I also tried it as a leave in conditioner on my ends after using my normal conditioner and that felt good too! I did it on wet hair and it didn’t weight my hair down. It doesn’t say to try it on dry hair but I imagine it would be too heavy for that.

I’m not sure if using it as a treatment vs a conditioner made much difference. My hair felt pretty much the same both ways, so I would probably recommend it as a day to day conditioner (especially for damaged hair although that isn’t what it promotes) and a leave in conditioner but I prefer something more specialised for a hair treatment.

The packaging is good, the big container is easy to use and you can get all of the product out of it easily. And the containers are good to re-used to throw bathroom items in or I use them most often to mix up hair dye in.

The scent is nice, not too strong but definitely present. I didn’t notice it once dry but if you prefer unscented products this wouldn’t be ideal for you. I have tried a few of the different hair food types and I think this one is my favourite.

The Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon comes in a large plastic tub with pleasing watermelon pictures and lots of great information on how to use the product. This product can be used 3 ways. 1. A Conditioner. 2. A hair Mask. 3. A leave in. This product claims to come from 97% Natural Origin and I really liked the fact that on the back they listed the ingredients and explained what they all meant and where they come from.

This product contains No nasties and is Vegan friendly which would encourage me to purchase again. The only thing that gave it a bit of a downfall was since I received it with the Bar Shampoo which had little cardboard packaging I felt I had undone my great "less packaging" as this comes in such a large plastic tub (then again I am not too sure how they could get around that?).

The product smells great, although not natural watermelon, was still pleasant to use. So far I used this product as a Conditioner. I don't normally use conditioner as I find it makes my hair oily too quickly, however, I really enjoyed this. The product was light-weight, easy to use, easy to wash out and left my hair shiny, silky and it did not get too oily.

I am yet to try the other ways of using it but am excited to keep trialing this product.

I am not sure if I would rush out and buy again, only due to the fact this is a product I wouldn't normally choose to purchase and use however, would recommend if you like hair masks and Conditioner, for the price its a fun product to try.

I’ve tried this conditioner as both a regular conditioner and as a leave in on wet hair. I haven’t tried it as a hair mask yet but as it performs well at the other two tasks I think it would be good at this too. The conditioning is not quite as good as my favourite preferred bottle conditioner, but it’s still good. The scent is really quite nice - I like it better than the shampoo bar. I do question the very large pot it comes in - I’d prefer something a bit smaller for travelling but could decant into something else. I was impressed that as a leave in on wet hair once dried it didn’t leave any residue or heavy feeling, which is great for fine hair. Definitely happy to use again.

Firstly the smell when I took the lid off was divine, fruity and definitely watermelon. The texture of the hair food is creamy making it easy to apply to the hair. I used my one as a conditioner on two occasions leaving it for 2 minutes each time. My hair was definitely soft and manageable. The only unfortunate thing for me was it made my scalp itchy for 24 hours after each use. Once my hair kind of got oily and dirty again it stopped itching so could be just an adjustment over time. I will preserve for another couple of uses and see how I go. Other than this though it added volume, made my hair manageable and was great to know it is paraben free, silicon free and can be used three ways. As a hair mask, a conditioner and a leave in treatment. Not many other products can do that !!

I like that this has 3 options for use, because it will appeal to people for different reasons. When I first opened the package it came in I thought the watermelon scent was going to be too much for me, but I actually enjoyed the light notes I caught after my hair was dry. The packaging is bright and appealing, but it didn't fit on my shelf, so is sitting on the shower floor.

It worked best as a regular conditioner for me. It was a bit too heavy as a leave in conditioner and my scalp felt a little itchy with that. My hair felt soft and smooth after blow drying, but after air drying felt almost a little greasy to the touch (it didn't look that way, just felt like there was product still there) I think I will use this occasionally as a mask as I'm quite sold on my current conditioner, but I do enjoy this.

This mask can be used as conditioner, mask or leave in. I wouldn't use as a leave in personally as I think it would be to heavy for my hair but it would definitely hydrate & give amazing shine. Again not a watermelon fragrance fan but it was fine. Used with the matching shampoo bar & was really surprised how they both were in my bleached fine hair. Lots of bounce, shine & volume & blow waved awesome. Will continue to use to see what the long term effects are.

Priced between $10-14 this mask will last a long time as a little goes a long way.

Arriving in a very round tub with bright labelling, caught my eye with three uses, three uses I quizzed myself, I can get rid of three? Cracking the lid open I smelt the wonderful scent of watermelon the white cream glaring up at me I couldn’t wait to try all three uses! As a mask, my hair soaked happily in it, leaving a fully smooth rejuvenated look, as leave in conditioner it refreshed my hair left a great scent and didn’t dry out, as a conditioner I had silky smooth hair that looked great when blow dried. The container it arrived in appears plastic but then it is recyclable, eased my mind, the tub is very round and I think that could be smaller and stubby, overall this conditioner beat hands down my three existing products, it is easy to rinse out, leaves no residue and even your hands feel great after using it.
