The only shampoo/conditioner for 2015

My hair stylist recommended these products to me when I started getting Keratin treatment last December.  The recommendation was based on the state of my hair and what I wanted to achieve with my hair care regime.   I have had my hair chemically straightened, dyed (highlighted,  balayage) and to top it off - regular use of hair straigteners so it's fair to say that my hair was frizzled, frazzled and nearing it's time.

I really enjoy the way it leaves my hair feeling soft, manageable and healthy. I feel that it doesn't strip the life (or what little of it I have left) in my hair.  It's easier for me to run my hands through my hair and I can easily put it up without having to deal with this mop of a mess that I had prior to last year.  When I straighten my hair I notice that there is more of a healthy soft shine. No hair care has ever felt as nourishing as these two products.

I wash my hair twice a week and my bottles have lasted me almost 8 months because I've stuck to my hairstylist's advice. Shampoo hair twice, first shampoo use a 50c size amount to get rid of the days' worth of product build-up and oil (you may not see any lather during this time). Second shampoo in a 20c size amount to actually "wash" your hair (you should see a nice lather of goodness). Lastly my favorite part the conditioner - ahhhhhhh massage in a 20c size amount but I prefer the 50c size (oh yes I'm living on the edge)!

The only issues I have with this is that it leaves my hair "fluffy" sometimes and the price. When the Keratin starts to wear off I notice my hair is "fluffier" than usual but it's nothing to cry about. I bought my products from my salon; Style Counsel (Epsom, Auckland) and if I remember correctly it was roughly $50-$60 for both - well worth it if you stick to the "coin" amounts because at the end of the day that's all you really need.

Tips: Shampoo hair twice - 50c size amount and then go in with a 20c size amount. Finish off with a 50c size amount of the conditioner.

Rapunzel let down your hair

This product is amazing for blonde highlighted hair and I have used it many times over the years. Redken is definitely one of my favourite brands for haircare products, you can't get much better than Redken or Kerastase in my opinion. I shudder to think how much money I've spent on my haircare products over the years.

I initially brought this after being recommended it from a hairdresser friend. My hair was quite damaged, battered from many years of full-head blonde highlights.

After using this, my hair was so much more moisturised and healthy. The shampoo and conditioner really helped to seal in moisture to the dry parts of my hair. The products made my hair less tangled and softer. This really made my hair silky soft and it really improved the condition of it. This was a lifesaver to my hair!

It really lives up to its name.. all soft! Absolutely LOVE these products and I will continue to repurchase.

Tips: Rather expensive, but these products are worth it in my opinion.

Redken All Soft! Worth the $$

I adore Redken hair products! My hair is very curly and is naturally dry. I love the All Soft range as it instantly makes your hair feel soft no matter how dry and brittle it feels. I have tried the shampoo, conditioner and treatment and love all 3. I wish the treatment could be bought in bigger bottles as I love to use it all the time and it is exactly a cheap product but certainly worth its weight in gold!

My hairdresser has now recommended the Redken Real Control range to me which is apparently meant to be better suited to my hair type so will see how it compares.

Ultimately, if you are after a luxurious shampoo and conditioner to treat your hair, I highly recommend this range. Just stunning.

The Dreaded Itch

You know the one. The one that makes you think you have cooties but you know you haven't been in the vicinity of a contagious child. Just thinking about it now has given me the bloody itch. I purchased this shampoo and conditioner set after a thorough investigation here on BR and I'm not sorry that I did!

Both the shampoo and conditioner come in the same shaped bottle, but the conditioner is 50ml less so the bottle is smaller. Not that it matters, as you need bugger all conditioner to get this wonderful soft party started. My hair is a combination of dry, damaged and colored, though my hair dresser thinks it's in pretty good condition for what it is.

On the thickness scale, where 1 is thick like mud and 10 is runny like honey, its about a 6. It's thick enough not to fall out of your hand immediately but its runny that it will start a slow slip and slide if you bend your hand the wrong way. It lathers okay in the hair, but we all know bubbles=clean so I have found myself using the shampoo twice.

The conditioner on the other hand, is about a 2 on the scale. She thicc. It's quite good too as you don't need heaps, like literally a 5c (or now a 10c piece) is enough to do my entire head and then some. It spreads out like softened butter and covers literally every strand of hair with such a tiny amount. It's bizarre but I LOVE it. The conditioner is the saving Grace of this duo.

Like I mentioned though, I found after a few times of using this duo that my head gets itchy, and my hair feels dry. I know it's these two products causing this drama as well. So I'm left wondering if it is the shampoo, which I suspect it is as I don't condition my scalp.

The duo smells awesome, like salon expensive awesome. To me it smells like a creamy floral, with a hint of honeyed sweetness. I dunno, I'm not an expert. It smells pretty damn good though! It claims to give softness to dry/brittle hair and I think it hits the target and keeps the salon soft. So other than the shampoo being a 5/10 the conditioner is a 10 through and through and I'd buy it again!

Perfect for dry hair

I have coloured my hair for as long as I can remember so my mid-lengths to roots are seriously, seriously dry.

My hairdresser recommended this to me and I'm so glad I took her advice.

I know, having coloured hair I should use a colour protecting-type product, but I care less about the colour since it stays pretty well anyway, and more about the actually state of my hair.

This lathers really, really well so you don't need much of the shampoo at all.

The conditioner, put through my mid-lengths to roots and left in for a few minutes before washing out is like a hair mask all in itself. The Argan Oil definitely makes a huge difference.

So if your hair is a little on the dry and brittle side like mine, I would strongly recommend this in addition to a really good mask.

Tips: Use a little of the shampoo - depending on how much hair you have and how thick. Mine is past my shoulders and quite thick so I use a dollop the size of a $2 coin (or thereabouts).

As for the conditioner, leave it in your hair for a good 5 minutes (or longer if you can) before rinsing it out. I have oily roots so tend not to put it any higher than my mid-lengths since my roots are the least damaged part of my hair.

Not my fave

I tried this Redken shampoo as I had heard it was a great brand - plus it was the one that my hairdressers at the time recommended for me. This product has a gorgeous smell, but thats about where it ends for me. It cleaned my hair OK but after I dried my hair, it felt a bit greasy. Also it irritated my scalp so wasnt very happy. I perservered until both bottles were empty (I had to use it up because of the price I paid!) but alas, no difference. Didnt work for me I'm afraid.

The good and the bad.

I got these products to use as a duo from the salon after having a haircut. The conditioner is fantastic and absolutely kept my hair soft and beautiful. The shampoo however gave me the most horrendous dandruff and I wasn't able to keep using it. I do have sensitive skin so I think the problem was more me than the shampoo. I did go on to use the conditioner with a different brand shampoo for a very long time.

Tips: This possibly may react if you have sensitive skin.

Not the best

I have heard great things about this but to tell you the truth i didn't like this. Its lathered up well but like always i will do 2x shampoo but i found after using this a couple weeks it made my scalp super dry and super itchy ( i dont normally have a sensitive scalp so i stopped using this after that ) Found the conditioner ok but not the greatest . Smells good though.

Love All Soft Conditioner

Back when my hair was bleached (think a slightly lavender tinge to it) i used to use this conditioner. Ive never tried the shampoo but the hairdresser would give me a purple shampoo and and because she stocked redken products she would giveme the All Soft Conditioner. My hair was processed and dry and needed some deep conditioning. It worked well on my hair. I would use this following either the purple shampoo or a different Redken Shampoo. I would comb it through and leave in it my hair while I did my other shower bits and pieces and then wash it out lastly. It abosrbed well into my hair (My hair was screaming for some TLC). It was tangle free when I got out and it improved the condition of my hair making it more soft supple and manageable.

Tips: Leave in your hair while you shave and wash yourself rinse it out last :)

smells amazing

I have fine hair but a lot of it. All Soft didn't work too well for me because it made my hair too soft and it became full of static which meant it stood up in weird directions and clung to my clothing. It would work for people with normal to thick hair

Tips: be weary if you have fine hair
