love Love LOVE!!

Directions hair colours are my go to for vibrant hair colours. Absolutely love the packaging (no cutting open tubes to get that last little bit out). It's a really nice texture and easy to judge how much you're using. Recommend using on bleached hair.

Pillarbox Red is my favourite bright red temporary colour, it looks great on white or yellow blondes but like most reds it does fade very quickly if you wash your hair often.

Flamingo pink is a vibrant hot pink which I found faded to a nice pastel pink

The violet shade is best on white blonde hair. I tried using this when my hair wasn't the same shade of blonde all over and it didn't come out that great . Some parts looked very brown.

Turquoise is my absolute favourite. It's one of those really unique colours. I usually touch it up as I think it looks messy when its fading. I found it impossible to get out though as it stained my hair.

Will definitely be trying out more shades!

Tips: I use it on wet hair as it is easier to spread then leave it in for over an hour to get the best out of the colour and then finally when it comes to washing it out I do it in the coldest water I can handle as I find it lasts longer.

You can mix colours and make your own shade!

La Riche Derictions Semi Permanant AMAZING!

This product is great! I bought for such a great price and have used this so many times. I have blonde hair so I am always afraid this will stick permanantly. I mixed with conditioner to make a pastel colour and and also to help with the sticking issue. I have used and mixed these colours so often! I have never had the issue of sticking even when I wasn't using it as a pastel colour. There are so many beautiful shades and I recommend this product to everybody. Even as a makeup artist and hair stylist I have used this on models who I have worked on for shoots.

Tips: Mix with conditioner to achieve pastel colour and this will also help the colour wash out faster if you are wanting something for a short period of time. I have stuck to buying the darker colour and mixing with others and with conditioner to achieve the colour I wanted instead of forking out extra money for all the colours available.

Amazing Colour

I have used La Riche Directions many times now and everytime i get the results I've wanted. The colours are very semi-permanent and don't last too long, depending on how blonde your hair is before using the colours. I often dilute my Flamingo Pink down with conditioner and

Tips: I often dilute my Flamingo Pink down with conditioner to get a lighter pastel pink. This doesnt last that long but it isnt as bright and allows you to change the colour/shade. Would be perfect from a gradual Ombre

La Riche

Boy does this have staying power! I died my hair a month a go and haven't done any touchups and it is only just washing out now because of a change in shampoo. The colour goes in so vibrant and stays that way for weeks. The only issue I have had is that it didn't cling to my natural regrowth very well.

Pastel Pink Directions

I just used the pastel pink colour on my (bleached) hair, and it had a really nice result! I'm very impressed with this product, and so far there has been no fade or dye leakage or staining (although that could be because of this particular colour), it also wasn't too messy either, which is a plus!

Tips: Wash your hair sparingly in order to preserve the colour's brightness for longer, and you can leave it on for longer than the 15 recommended minutes for an even more vibrant result.

Great refresher for Rhianna reds!!

My hair is bright bright red. It fades quickly and I need to keep it refreshed without damaging it with a permanent colour every other week. This is where La Riche Directions colour comes in. Every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the fading of my hair I put nearly a tub through my hair. The great thing about this is it's non damaging on the hair as it doesn't need a developer to activate it. It's a conditioning colour. This is also good because you can leave it in for ages without the worry of it damaging your hair. I also mix a small amount into my conditioner to stop the colour fading so fast. I have tried other vibrant products like this such as manic panic and paintbox but prefer La Riche as it's cheaper and also like Manic Panic comes in a tub so i can get every last bit of product out or put back what i don't use easily. It pulls easily through the hair too and with a bit of jif it comes off anywhere I've accidentally splashed it. I normally cover my hair in glad wrap after applying and leave it on for a while....sometimes an hour or so, it depends on how hectic things are. I condition after but i don't use shampoo and you shouldn't until at least 48 hours after any colour. It's value for money and the colour result is the same as others brands like it as is the wear. Probably not quite as well wearing as Manic Panic but definitely better than Paintbox in my opinion. A great option for maintaining the vibrancy of fashion colours in between regrowth applications. Works better on pre-lightened hair depending on what results you are after. I apply to faded red that i achieve with either Affinage B-red or L'Oreal hi-lights in red. I use La Riche Directions in Coral red, Flame and Fire. I have coloured my sisters in Turquoise and aqua colours from La Riche and they were also great. I plan on trying the other reds as well.

Tips: Glad-wrap while processing as heat opens the cuticle and gives a more intense result. Pre lighten hair first for a more intense result. Use gloves!!! lol Put a bit in your conditioner to keep the colour from fading as fast.

White toner

Now I have heard wonderful wonderful things about this - and I have no idea how the coloured dyes work, but my review will be solely based on the white toner. So if you’re looking for a review on the dyes, skip this one!

Alright so I want to mention that these little pots are sold for 4 pounds over in the UK, but in NZ i had to track mine down from trade me where I paid $20, when I received it, I was more than upset with how little it was, and how little product it contained.

The pot is also a little difficult to work with! I find transferring it to another pot sort of useless as there is such little amount in there, but then again you can’t get your dye brush in the pot either! It’s also near impossible to open the container when you first get it!

So I wanted to purchase the white toner, because I got my roots done and they were slightly more yellow than desired. I did as the directions said, wash hair, put it on, wait for 15 minutes, wash out.

I put it all over my yellow roots, waited 20 minutes and washed out. Sadly, the yellow in my hair was still there, but the surrounding areas that are platinum blonde had turned purple! I’d only left it 5 minutes longer than the recommended time and it turned purple! Lovely! Not!

I was left with a lovely silver, purple hair, with yellow roots! Not happy! Because my hair is platinum it took way longer than 20 washes to get all that colour out! So be warned!

Waste of Money.

Directions Hair Dye is a brand that has good reviews online and is inexpensive. When I was looking to dye my hair blue, I got this in the shade Atlantic Blue.

I bleached my hair to a light yellow and then applied this after washing and drying the bleached hair. Ignoring the instructions, I left this on my hair for around 5 hours (my sister trained as a hair dresser and assured me this wouldn't damage my hair). After rinsing it out I was excited to blow dry my hair to see what this looked like.

Immediately I was disappointed. Instead of being a vibrant blue, this was - at best, a pale, ugly green. It was like the pigment didn't absorb into my hair fully. I was upset because my hair had been bleached to a pale yellow and toned to take some of the brashness out. I definitely did not expect it to turn green - especially an unpigmented green.

While the pot is easy to use, I was super disappointed in the results and bought a different dye the following day which worked far better. It could be my hair type or the shade I chose but I will never purchase or use this brand again. Especially when there are more affordable, more pigmented dyes out there.

Tips: If you are looking for a vibrant blue then don't get this. I use Schwarzkopfs Ultra Brights in blue and it is far more intense and pigmented than this is. It's also a faction of the cost.

La riche hair colour in lavender and lilac

I adore this stuff!!! I have used it about four times now and have never been disappointed. Most recently I have used the lavender which was a lovely pinky purple and the Lilac which fades out to be a more silvery colour after a few washes. The thing I like most about these is they fade out after about a month, which is good cause it means I can change up my look often without having to bleach my hair. Also my hair is always very soft after using it's like a conditioning treatment.

Tips: Leave it on for longer than recommended it won't damage your hair. If you wash your hair everyday (I only wash mine 3x a week) don't expect the colour to last too long.

Amazing!

I absolutely love this hair dye! I have used it many times and it's always left my hair feeling extremely soft and conditioned. I have used Alpine Green and Midnight Blue and both colours are amazing on my hair and don't fade to an ugly colour. It usually lasts for an extremely long time (around 2 months) and touching up is extremely easy, just through it on while you're running your errands and you'll be good to go!

Tips: Because the dye is vegetable-based it is safe to leave it in your hair for several hours. I like to leave mine for about 7 hours as the colour comes out nice and vibrant and stays for around two months. I would recommend bleaching twice on black hair first so that the colour has a nice canvas to stick onto.
