Garnier Skin Perfector BB Cream Oil-Free Review

I was very sceptical about wearing just a BB cream in place of a regular foundation as I am normally a full coverage girl. I trialled the product in the days immediately following the birth of my baby, when you don't have the time or energy to put on a full face of makeup. While it didn't cover many blemishes, it did even out my skin tone and help give my face a fresher, less tired look. If you had relatively clear skin, this product would be perfect. If you had only minor blemishes or uneven skin tone, this would be a suitable substitute for foundation when you just wanted something to even out your skin a bit, but would probably need to use a touch of concealer. This product does not do much for acne sufferers or those with blemishes and I probably would not wear this myself if going out, but would around home to look slightly decent if visitors popped by.

I have combination skin and found the consistency and finish of the cream lovely. It was light and easy to apply with my fingertips (like a moisturizer), and had a reasonably matte finish. As I am fair I had to be vigilant in blending around the hairline and jaw as it did look a bit orange. It had a very unobtrusive, moisturizer like fragrance and was non-irrative. When put on in the morning it lasted fairly well throughout the day, although I did reapply in T-zone in early afternoon. The BB cream is packaged in a squeezey tube and as it is quite liquidy you do have to be careful to only squeeze gently so as to not end up with an excess of product that can't be put back in the tube. I wouldn't call this a miracle cream as it still left imperfections visible, more like a step above a tinted moisturizer. I imagine people with clear skin, who just need a little something extra would quite enjoy the light coverage it provides. My teenage daughter liked the idea of wearing it to school as it doesn't sit heavy like a foundation but unfortunately even the light was too dark for her fair skin.

Ok product for the price, which seems fairly standard.

I would recommend this product for people who like a sheer coverage or who don't normally wear makeup.

I am a huge fan of Garniers BB Creams but this particular one just didn't work as well for me on its own. Firstly I prefer the 'standard' packaging with the shorter, wider tube for storage (this one is a tall skinny tube - with less product). I also found the pointy 'applicator' messy and hard to control the product. It didn't help that this BB Cream was very watery, it came out quickly and I often ended up with too much. It also has a very strong chemical scent which I did not like. Compared to other varieties I thought this one had the greatest coverage with one application - still a very light coverage but I was pleasantly surprised and didn't need as much powder as I usually did. I chose the light shade and felt it was a bit too light, but was easy to fix with a bit of powder and bronzer. What really disappointed me about this product was that it dried to matte very quickly - I loved the matte finish, but felt I didn't have long enough to blend the product in before it dried and appeared rather patchy. I absolutely loved this product as a base for foundation. it definitely reduced my pores and controlled the shine from coming through. I will continue to use this product as a base but will stick to a 'normal' BB cream for daily use.

All things aside, the first thing I have to say about this product is that the light colour is much too dark for me, despite the fact that I am not overly pale. However, colour aside, I can see how this product is good for oily skin. As the winter months are coming on, my skin has become much drier, so the product doesn't work overly well for me, but it absorbs any oil that is on my skin, which makes it good for oily skin. The consistency is quite watery, so when I opened the product, it kinda went everywhere. It was however, easy to apply and blend, and sat nicely on the skin, I would say medium coverage. It has a slightly powdery finish, which I am not a fan of, but it did last nicely over the course of the day, wearing out as the day went on. I would say I much prefer the normal formula to this one, and probably wouldn't purchase again.

My skin type is normally sensitive/combination.

I found the consistency lovely and creamy. The application glided and blended on easy with the tips of my fingers. The coverage was light to medium and matte which kept the look nice and natural.

The fragrance is very light. This product definitely has lasting power for the whole day. It definitely makes your skin look more even.

The price is fair and definitely worth the money. The packaging is informative about the product.

I do recommend this product for anyone who wants to even out their skin tone with moisturisation. Doesn't dry fast so you have time to work with it, unlike foundations.

I love it. I have very fair combination skin that is prone to acne in the oily areas but also has dry patches. The product does everything for me that they claim it will. It handled the acne, dryness and sun spots my skin looks bright and fresh. Doesn't feel heavy or greasy on the skin but does have decent coverage still need concealer on spots but that's to be expected. Downside - I've fairly pale I.e. Nw13 in Mac studio fix and unfortunately the fair is a tad too dark for me. It was still pale enough that I was happy enough to wear it out and wouldn't be getting any strange looks but I would prefer a shade lighter

I was really excited to try this product so on it went as soon as it arrived in the mail.

As a mother of three under 5 it's rather hard to find time for full makeup application, but nice to still have something on your face to brighten and even out skin tone.

I loved most aspects of this product, it goes on easily and smoothly with either your fingers or a beauty blender, feels nice on, not too heavy or gluggy, great coverage with a hint of shimmer and it stays on well all day. The downside for me was that I have VERY fair skin and blonde hair and felt that even though I had 'light' it was still a bit too much colour for my face, and in certain lighting I felt like it showed a tinge of orange. The other downside (this could be a coincidence of course) is that I suffered from breakouts under my chin after a few days use however as I have sensitive skin I feel it was just getting used to a new product.

To conclude overall it does what it claims and is a good price for the product.

This was the first time I had used a bb cream... I will be honest here and say that I thought it would be something I would apply to even out my skin tone, prior to applying foundation. Well..... I followed the easy instructions, applied once and was surprised that I didn;t need to reapply again. I went on to put on lip gloss and mascara and it was all I needed :) However it doesn't stop there, I got to work and recieved compliments about how 'perfect' my skin was without my normal foundation, flawless even... I loved it.. I have now been using it for over a week with two layers, rather than using my normal foundation.. It gives me perfect coverage, but looks like its just my natural skin tone without the flaws... I am so impressed that I have even gone out to buy a second tube for when this runs out.. I am not the greatest at applying make up so to find a product that fits my face well with the ease of a moisturiser is just so overwhelming that words cannot explain! :)

I didn't enjoy this product at all. I have recently tried and loved Garnier BB cream sensitive so assumed this would be very similar. I found this to be too liquidy in consistency. While this seems like a silly reason to not like the product I found that it came out of the tube too quickly and therefore made a mess in the lid and gave me excess amount each time I used it. I didn't like the colour of the product, and had the same colour in the other BB cream i used so I am not sure why it was so inconsistent. I also wasn't a huge fan of the smell - again in comparison to the BB cream - sensitive that I have tried previously. I did however like that while it went on (excessively) liquidy it dried and became a matte finish. Also it is a bonus that it has SPF in it. But because of the consistency and colour issues I wont be using this product in future.

Ok let's get the good stuff out the way. Packaging is good. It goes on like a dream. It smells pretty pleasant and the general coverage was good. It didn't quite cover my red cheeks but definitely disguised them enough. However I was only able to use for three days and even trying it on day 3 was a big decision. By mid morning on day 1, I had a pimple. I ignored it but by the end of the day I had 3. (Next good thing, because it's really light, it's easy to take off!). Applying on day two, it didn't really cover them. And by lunchtime on day 2 I had 3 or 4 more. I felt like a 14 year old again. I persevered with day 3 but came home to a face full and decided enough was enough. Something in it obviously just reacted with my skin. I know someone that uses this every day and they love it (and have no pimple issues). Maybe if they developed a medicated one that would be better for me, but the fact I'm still trying to clear the pimples a few days later, this one isn't for me and I won't be trying it again.

I have used many BB creams over the past few years and always seem to come back to this one. My skin is not actually oily or combination but rather more normal to dry. So this means I need to use a good moisturiser or primer before this BB cream. The consistency is very runny & the bottle does tend to get pretty messy after a while. It's best stored in an upright position. There is no noticeable smell/fragrance. There are 2 shades available. Light & medium. I tend to use medium in summer & mix the 2 shades in winter. Light on its own is very pale for me. They do slightly oxidise on the skin so deepen in colour. Of the Garnier BB range this one is the least orange one in my opinion.

I apply with my flat top kabuki brush & it gives a beautiful finish. It evens up my skin pretty well but I still apply a small amount of concealer to cover pigmentation spots.

Overall I think this BB cream is great. It has light to medium coverage & is build-able if need be.
