The first fragrance by STELLA McCARTNEY, inspired by the fragile beauty of a rose, is contrasted by sensuality of amber.

Playing with the opposition of the masculine and the feminine as well, the bottle’s lines, both precious and sharp, frame a seemingly infinite plum dégradé.

Sweet, sweet rose

30ml EDP, purchased myself on sale -- I probably wouldn't pay full price for it.

This isn't a terribly complicated perfume, but will probably garner a few "you smell good" comments. The initial blast is full on rose, but that dies down pretty quickly. For a couple of hours I get the sweetness of the amber, and it almost makes me think of candy -- it's a really well blended perfume, and I find it hard to pick out the notes. It's just like a warm hug, and has a little whiff of incense to it too. It is a totally feminine perfume, but not girly -- more sophisticated and slightly edgy.

It doesn't last very long on my skin, and I would recommend layering it with the lotion if you are really keen on it. Alone, it doesn't have much silage and sits quite close to the skin.

(If you're after something fresher and sharper, I would recommend Balenciaga Florabotanica -- rose with a bit of mint.)

My 30ml bottle is a sleeker design than the larger sizes -- the whole thing including the cap is shaped like a rectangle with the corners cut off, and is faceted like a cut diamond. It would be quite handy to travel with as it isn't awkwardly shaped.

Tips: Layer it with the matching lotion if you want it to last longer. Even plain unscented lotion might work.

My must have Perfume

A long time ago I picked this up from StrawberryNet and when I finished my bottle I was sure this would be the first perfume that I would repurchase. Unfortunately at this point the perfume fairytale ended. It was discontinued! I went on to try other perfumes but nothing really compared. Fast forward a few years and I saw on Sephora that it had been re-released. Still being in NZ it is really hard to get perfumes here. Luckily I had a friend (from on BR) that was heading through Dubai and offered to pick me up a bottle. My dreams had come true! I got the bottle in the 50ml size

The bottle is really nice. I like the modern classic style to it. It has a black lid and then as it goes down the bottle it fades into a purple then into clear, an ombre if you will. I really like that when it is getting down to the bottom you can see how much you have left to know when you need to repurchase.

The scent itself is the best part! As it should be. I love roses and to me this is a dusky more mature version of a rose scent. The musky-ness is actually the amber in it I think. If you were smelling this for the first time, your first thought isn't of rose. I'm not the biggest fan of this as soon as it hits my skin, it smells very sharp. But make sure you let it settle as the fragrance only gets better as it sits on the skin. This is a very feminine perfume, but I like that it is a powerful feminine scent, not girly.

For me this lasts a couple hours than I can't smell it anymore. But I'm sure that is probably just my nose getting used to it. As soon as this is out in NZ I will be purchasing another bottle as I really don't want to run out again!

I've also only seen it online in NZ thus far. Haven't tried it yet, but look foward to purchasing a new fragrance to add to my collection

I've seen it online in NZ Chelsea but not at any stores near me! I'm really hoping we also get the Stella eau de Toilette too as it is delicious smelling.

This is a wonderful fragrance that I personally would choose to wear more in winter than summer, as for me, it tends to be slightly heavy. On initial application you get a heady smell of roses & if this is where the fragrance ended I probably would choose not to wear as I'm not a lover of rose scents, but this fragrance is full of surprises because as it warms to your skin, you get a whiff of peony & leaves a lingering warm fruity, amber like scent. For me it's a definite must have!

Tips: A little goes a long way with this fragrance,so apply to pulse points rather than spraying indiscriminately

Love your description because the initial blurb about roses would've put me off it, so its good to know it's not too 'rosy'.

Love it love it love it! Get compliments every time I wear it. Soft feminine fragrance! My friend used it. I bought it and she said it smelt better on me! It is one of my favorites of all times. It's just a really nice fragrance that doesn't over power you. There are other versions of Stella but I like this one the best.

Tips: With any new fragrance! Spray it on your skin first. Leave it for a couple of hours and then smell it. Don't rely on a piece of cardboard to let you know what the actual fragrance will smell like on you!

I have never thought to spray perfume on cardboard. How interesting. I would think it best to spray on yourself as your acidity etc of your skin will definitely change the actual smell of the perfume for sure

my favourite!

I love love this perfume and it is my standard favourite, I just struggle to find it to purchase and have resorted to online options. It's such a beautiful girly but not too girly scent. I've had a few complements on it too. I also love the bottle design, just to top it off :)

Stella by Stella McCartney

Another one of my all-time favourites. I first got the 30ml for Christmas quite a few years ago now, but I loved how subtle it was and it made me feel a million dollars. It's great to wear during the day, going out or for that special date!

The bottle is gorgeous with shades of purple. What more could a girl want

Tips: Never rub perfume into your wrists as it weakens the smell

I love this!

This is gorgeous - possibly my favourite perfume! It's light and summery, you don't need much at all and it smells really fresh. You can definitely smell the floral notes, but there is also a hint of citrus in there somewhere. I love that this is not too overpowering ! I've always had a lot of compliments when wearing this fragrance!

A scent thats stellar

Every year my UK in-laws send me Stella. I find it very hard to find a fragrance that suits me and I am very sensitive to many scents. Stella is a light, flirty and ultra-feminine scent. There is a hint of floral that is super sophisticated and is rather dreamy. I really think this is a delicious perfume for any women.

Tips: Can wear any season and is both a day or night scent.

Musk-ualine

Stella is my fall/winter scents. It has a good musk to it without smelling like Nanas lounge. It has floral hints but I wouldn't describe it as a feminine scent. It is very noticeable and I will always get comments (largely from older women) about the scent, or recognizing it.

It might not be right for most which is why it doesn't get full marks for me, I think it is a smell that will polarize people... but I'm a fan :)

Love, love, love

Along with Marc Jacobs Daisy, Stella is one of my signature scents. I have tried all the different versions but I always come back to the original.

It is such a classic timeless scent, it is a floral one but definitely not classed under the 'nana rose' type of floral. It is warm and sophisticated without being too heavy.

I usually wear this at night or in winter as it is quite intense for summer, however I love that the scent becomes more noticeable on your skin as it warms up. It is one of those perfumes that you can still smell hours after you apply it.

Tips: Apply to your pulse points and spritz a bit lightly on your clothes and I promise you will smell the fragrance all day.
