Dior Hypnotic Poison Review

My Mumma had a bottle of this when I was younger, I loved it so much and the scent has never left my mind. So when I managed to get $60 in Farmers vouchers I decided to purchase a 30ml bottle. Making it only $45 to buy. I don't need perfume, it's probably the last thing I should of bought but it's good to have lots of choice right?

The gorgeous bottle reminds me of an apple, glossy and bright red I just want to bite into it. The black lid on top makes the juicy red bottle stand out even more.

I take the lid of and spray my neck, the spray nozzle on this is awesome, it seems to spray really wide. 1 spray will cover my whole neck.

When I first spray it is like a vanilla overload all vanilla and not a lot else. I start thinking I have made a huge mistake buying this bottle, and doesn't smell as amazing as I remembered. It actually smells like clothes that have been in the dryer too long and come out smelling kind of burnt. Once it dries I still get that vanilla scent but with a woody/oriental undertone. It's warming and a great scent for winter however I don't think I could wear it in summer as I would imagine it would be quite heavy.

For an EDT it lasts for hours I don't need to top up during the day i can spray it at 7am and can still smell it at 7pm. It smells the same all day it doesn't change, it doesn't have all the different layers like some of my favourite fragrances do.

While it's nice I won't repurchase. It doesn't smell the way I remember or maybe it just suited my mumma but not me. For me the vanilla is too strong and overpowering.

This was one of Dior's masterpiece creations before the brand started watering down their scents and reformulated the life out of their fragrance range.

The review I am writing is for a bottle of the current formulation. This is identified by the gold ring under the cap (the older versions have a black lid & cap).

There isn't a huge difference in the smell between the original and the current formulation. The difference is mainly around the lasting power and sillage.

While the original lingers on clothing for over a week, the new scent lasts an hour max.

In terms of the scent itself, it is difficult to describe much like the rest of the poison range. The scent doesn't lend itself easily to any broad category (e.g. oriental; gourmand,etc) and it doesn't do the scent any justice by trying to lump into one. I do notice, however, a dominant vanilla well blended amongst a number of other notes

Instead, it is a very unique scent with no other similar scents on the market.

This is a fragrance I just love. They say the sign of a great fragrance for you is if you can't smell it on yourself....and I can't, but I get so many comments from random strangers and friends when I wear it.

The fusion of fragrances seem to be richer when my body heats up, or during exercise.

It's a fragrance you can wear every day and it's not overpowering, in fact I think it's amazing and certainly worth a try, especially if you love the musk, vanilla and jasmine blend as much as I do..... I tend to love wearing it more in the winter months

The bottle is gorgeous too and a little goes a long way. The bottle seems to last forever and that's me wearing it most days. and it smells as wonderful now as it did when I first opened the bottle.....

This was the first fragrance that I purchased myself, as my other perfumes had been gifts. I had decided that I wanted something sweeter than my other perfumes and this really is the sweetest of them all. It smells like vanilla, vanilla, aaand, vanilla. There really isn't much more too it and this doesn't change throughout the day. The bottle is basic and sturdy, which isn't particularly exciting but ensures that it remains classy and good for the handbag or travel.

At the time of purchasing vanilla was my favourite scent, although after a few weeks I realised that I didn't actually want to smell of vanilla myself. I now prefer to wear a very small spray of Hypnotic Poison alongside a fresh, fruitier fragrance. This really is personal preference.

To me, Hypnotic Poison is a deep, nightime fragrance that lacks sophistication. At $135 for 50ml, I do regret purchasing it as a fragrance that I cannot wear alone. For somebody who loves the scent, the price would be great, as one spray goes a long way and it is long lasting on the skin. My preferences have changed since I purchased this fragrance. My once sweet tooth has been replaced by a savory palate and a preference for fresh and fruity scents. Hypnotic Poison would be better suited to somebody who remains addicted to sweet, girly scents. Dior Hypnotic Poison is very comparable to Katy Perry Meow, so if you love that, you will love this.

Of all the Dior perfumes, I would have to say this is my fave! It smells quite like vanilla, very strong, but totally intoxicating. The box is quite pretty and eye catching, and the bottle is gorgeous. It sits pretty with my other perfumes and I would recommend this to anyone. I get lots of compliments, and headturns, it really makes me feel good. The longevity of the product comes down to how well you look after it. If you place in a dark, damp place, the scent last longer as oppose to leaving it in the sun, where the scent dissipates. I have had my perfume for 3months and use it everyday, so it is definitely worth the price and a great buy. I payed $120.00 for this at Farmers.

I cannot give this perfume enough compliments! I LOVE it! It is a more expensive scent but you only need a small amount to last through the day. The bottle fits perfectly in your hand. It's like a little red apple made of glass that is elegant & is easy to use. Every time i wear it i get asked what it is. If you are a fan of Jasmine based scents then you should definitely have this one in your collection. A beautiful scent for day or evening wear.

So excited this is finally available to review! I absolutely love this perfume. I first experienced it on a work colleague and had to have it! It is a sign of an excellent quality fragrance when you only need on squirt and it lasts the entire day and night. It has a beautiful fragrance unlike any other I have tried. It is sophisticated, feminine and totally sexy.It can be used for day or night and is an excellent signature scent.It is worth the price for the quality and lasting power, but is not an overpowering scent like Samsara can be. Love it! :)

This perfume is amazing!! Although it is expensive, it's worth it. It has a very sophisticated scent to it, it's very vanillary. You only need one or two squirts and the scent lasts all day.

I absolutely love this perfume, it's my number 2 and everytime I wear it I get so many compliments and it makes you feel sexy, warm and in control, there is just something about it! I tend to wear it more on cooler days and in the winter as it feels like a warm vanilla scent. Love in a bottle :)

Dior has the best fragrances, I have so many favourites that I keep on buying again and again. Dior is excellent quality and just pure elegance to me.

I adore this scent, I use it all the time. It is a lovely fragrance, spicy, vanilla, exotic and really feminine/sexy.

It's one I wear when I go out at night to dinner or parties. It's one of those fragrances that is so unique- you either love it or hate it. I absolutely love it!

The bottle is also as unique as the fragrance, with it's red little potion looking bottle. It looks stunning on my dresser.

The fragrance seems to last a long time. A couple of sprays, and later on in the day I can still smell this lovely fragrance. An awesome product.
