Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

I really, really wanted to love this foundation. I'd heard such good things about it, everyone seems to think that it's amazing! However.... luckily, I got a sample of this to try before purchasing, and I'm glad I did. It went on smoothly and felt great, but within four hours I'd noticed separation in my T-zone, and at six-to-seven hours, my face looked like an oil slick. No amount of blotting or setting helped for more than a minute or two either!

I feel like the ladies of the beauty community overhyped this foundation. I'm lucky I only got a sample.

At first, it matched perfectly, glided on and blended like a dream. I was in LOVE.

When I got home a couple hours later I was so embarrassed!! It had gone blotchy, it went really dark and I looked like a complete Wolly. I primed, I set and it still turned out terrible. Maybe I'll try it again with a different primer when I'm home all day

Absolutely adore double wear. It is incredible. Such good coverage and makes you look so flawless. The only down fall is that it makes your skin rather dry but a good moisturiser before and in the morning does the trick :)

Although this foundation does what it says it will, it has a very full on coverage that does cover almost everyones flaws. I find it very thick and drying on the skin. I have tried many ways to apply it, however it always just seems to look like a thick mess on my face, although i do LOVE the coverage i definitely would not recommend for a day to day foundation.

After finally clearing up a years worth of breakouts, I was left with the remnants, in the form of acne scarring on fair skin. Estee Lauder Double Wear sounded like my miracle, holy grail foundation - promising long lasting coverage. I don't usually post entirely negative reviews, but I Estee Lauder Double Wear did not impress me.

Firstly, it was difficult to get the right colour. There is a large selection of shades to choose from, but the shade I selected darkened/oxidised after half an hour on my skin. It shifted at least two shades, so my neck needed some serious bronzing. The formula was thinner than I expected, and without a pump, this product was beyond awkward to apply. I experimented with my fingers, a flat top brush and a beauty blender, and each application was a messy disaster. The foundation did not apply evenly, and built up around the edges of my face, where I wasn't needing coverage. I found it difficult to build up this foundation around areas where I wanted more coverage (chin and forehead). I don't usually reach for concealer, but this foundation did not provide the full coverage that I was looking for, so I applied concealer on my acne scarring and set with powder.

This foundation did last, but if I set with powder I never have an issue with any foundations not lasting. Although it lasted a solid 12 hours (I didn't need to wear it longer than this), the result was never flawless in the first place, so I was unhappy with the finish.

Overall I will not be repurchasing this foundation, nor finishing the bottle. It does not provide the coverage, finish or application that I am looking for, and regardless of price I have drugstore foundations that I prefer. For full coverage and long lasting foundation, I would instead recommend adding the Thin Lizzy concealer and Australis Fresh and Flawless powder alongside your regular foundation to add coverage and set it in place.

I purchased this late last year (and still have some left!) This is my favourite foundation - it has a full coverage. The product lasts a very long time as a little goes a long way. Estee Lauder have really done us girls proud creating such a long lasting flawless foundation. I will keep re-purchasing.

This foundation is amazing! I dont usually go for high coverage on a daily basis but i love wearing this foundation when im going out to town. The coverage makes my skin look flawless and it last on my skin all night and doesnt slip off at all. The price is a bit steep but as good as this foundation is its worth every cent

This foundation is amazing! Recently discovered that Estee lauder carried a shade light enough for me so I immediately wanted to try this foundation as everyone raves about it. For me, Double Wear really lives up to the hype. It's full coverage but not thick or sticky, the formula is light and easy to apply with both your hands or a brush. It sets matte and looks natural especially considering how high coverage it is. Double wear lasts me all day which is unheard of for me as I have oily skin and find most foundations separate on my t-bone. A major plus for me is that double wear works well with my favourite concealer Nars radiant creamy concealer. Beautiful foundation, absolutely love it.

I tried a 10 day trial of this from my local department store and was amazed. As soon as the trial ran out I ran back to the shop to buy a full sized one. It is a bit pricey unfortunately, but I think that it is worth the price. I only use this for special occasions, or when I need the extra long wear. I wore it to a wedding once which started at 10am, when I got home after 12 that night my make up was still flawless. It was amazing. I must stress the importance of getting properly colour matched.
