Did someone say soapy?

I'm known by my friends to love micellar water - I'm literally obsessed. So, of course when I saw this product on sale in Countdown months ago, I had to purchase it (even though I already had like 2 at home, lol)! Anyway, I love how this has both aloe and rosehip oil in the formula because of their beneficial properties for the skin.

However the hugest negative about this product is the fact that it goes sudsy like crazy. It's fine when you're just gently wiping across your face, but as soon as you start applying a bit of pressure in rubbing anywhere - BAM! Here come the suds! If it weren't for the soapiness and the stinging when it comes even close to your eyes, I might even choose this above Garnier's. Sadly, this is not case.

Overall, I do like this product, and it does a great job in cleansing. But the negatives are quite inconvenient at the best of times, and deeply aggravating at the worst. I will not be re-purchasing anytime soon unless Essano ends up fixing the formula so it's not so sudsy.

Essano Micellar water

I love the essano micellar water. At first it stung my face slightly and made it a bit red. But I continued to use it and after a couple of uses that went away. It's slightly more soapy than other micellar waters I've tried, but it does an amazing job at removing makeup!! I like using it on a cotton pad to remove my makeup, and it's much more gentle on my skin than facial wipes as I don't need to rub very hard.

Reacted with my skin

I loved this when I first used it. It removed all my make up easily, it was a bit soapy but only if I rubbed to hard. It also has a really nice smell. Unfortunately that's where the good points end for me. It stung my eyes and after using for a few days my face was covered in bumps, not like acne more like an allergic reaction, they disappeared within a few days of stopping using the product. I will continue using it to clean brushes tho as it works really well for that

Oh good idea! I was about to give my half full bottle to my sister but I might keep it to clean my brushes!

Effective, quick to use, new fave

After using the Garnier Micellar Water, I was curious to see how this compared. This is the same size and the same price, so I wanted to see if the addition of rosehip oil made any difference. The micellar water comes in a simple clear bottle with a black lid, with pretty gold writing. I noticed that this had more of a soapy look to it, but it definitely made this more effective. I found this removed my make-up with ease and left my skin feeling clean. I found it actually removed my tough eye make-up quicker than other micellar waters have. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't find this to sting my eye area, but everyone is different. I found this to be gentle, and I liked the addition of rosehip as I felt I was doing something good for my skin by using this. This didn't irritate my skin at all, and I've had clearer skin since switching to this micellar water. Overall, I think this is a great micellar water and it perfectly fulfils its purpose.

Essano Micellar Water - Soapy and Stings My Eyes!

Garnier was the first big bottle of micellar water I bought. I really liked it, it was handy and even my family liked using it. A big bottle lasted us a long time and we repurchased it a few times and it was a family favorite. But it did fall short in a couple areas, one was the smell and the other was a more personal thing and that is my love for natural products. With obvious natural ingredients in it I decided to try another brand - Essano. Essano's micellar water has lactic acid, aloe vera extract and rosehip seed oil. It also says that 99.05% of the total ingredients are of natural origin, 10.0% of the total ingredients are from organic farming. I don't find that hard to believe considering it's mainly water with a smidge of other ingredients. I did like the natural ingredients from organic farming. The price was good for the size of the bottle, the same 400ml bottle as Garnier and it smelt better than Garnier without having any added fragrance. Somehow though it didn't seem to live up to my expectations to be more amazing than Garnier. I used this to remove my makeup and it somehow seems a bit soapy for a micellar water. It leaves a bit of soap on my face and somehow manages to leave my skin feeling tingling within minutes and not in a good way, I have to rinse my face off with water soon after I use this or move on to the next cleansing step in my routine. But the worst thing about this micellar water, is that it really stings my eyes when I use it to remove my eye makeup. My eye makeup remover at the moment is oil based so I like to wipe off the oil after it has dissolved my eye makeup with micellar water. Any time I use this around my eye area my eyes sting and I need to rinse them. It don't know why considering this is supposed to sooth and is ph balanced, but since I don't like using micellar water that stings my face and especially my eyes. I won't be repurchasing this product. I will be using this bottle for cleaning my makeup brushes and the multiples suggested uses for micellar water.

Tips: If you bought this and it stings your face and eyes consider using it for your makeup brushes or spot cleaning your body with micellar water on a paper towel, like freshening up your armpits before reapplying deoderant in summer. Not my fave micellar water

I have tried three different brands of micellar water (Garnier, L'Oreal, and Essano), and to be honest this Essano one is my least favourite. That's not to say that it's awful and doesn't work at all. It does a perfectly good job, but I have found that there are definitely better types of micellar water out there.

This product comes in a big bottle that looks nearly exactly the same as the Garnier micellar water. The only difference seems to be the colour of the lid. I bought this from Countdown on special for $9.69, which I thought was a great price since you get 400ml of product. It works out to be one of the cheapest micellar waters on the market in New Zealand, so that's definitely a big tick.

I use a round cotton pad with a little bit of micellar water on it to remove my makeup. I have found that it works best if the pad is damp, but not completely drenched.

One of my main problems with this micellar water is that it feels a bit soapy compared with other brands. I even put this product next to my other two micellar waters, and you could see that the Essano micellar water wasn't as clear as the others. It also bubbles a lot if you shake it. This soapiness caused issues whenever I went to remove my eye makeup. I have never had an issue with any other makeup removers around my eyes, but this one stung a little bit.

Another downside I have found is that I go through more cotton pads with this micellar water than any of the others I have tried. I need to use a lot of this product to effectively remove all of my makeup. But at the end of the day it does remove my makeup well and it leaves my face feeling cleansed/refreshed.

Overall this micellar water does what it is supposed to and it's great value for money. But it feels soapier than other brands, it stings my eyes, and you need to use more of this product than you would with other brands. I probably won't purchase this again but I'll continue to use it until it runs out. I think I'll end up using it to clean my brushes just so it runs out quicker.

Sort of soapy??

This is the third different brand of micellar water that I have used. I first fell in love with the garnier one over a year ago and since then I've been wanting to try lots of other brands out to see who does it best.

This is a very affordable water. I paid under $10 for this big 400ml bottle. This size lasts me around 6 months of daily use, I only really use it to remove eye makeup though, not a full face of makeup. I imagine you would go through the product much quicker if you did that.

This comes in a bottle pretty much the exact same as the garnier version. Just the labelling and lid colour is different. I never feel safe with this kind of lid though, I always feel like it might pop open although it does click shut tightly. I would just prefer a screw lid.

This product looks exactly like water. When you shake it up though, it will bubble up. I feel like this has the tiniest hint of a rose scent? Barely anything though.

I use this by putting a small amount onto a cotton pad and wiping it over my eyes. It does work well at removing makeup but it also stings my eyes. I found with the garnier and loreal ones, my eyes would sting if I used too much product but even when I'm careful with this, I still get that sting. I feel like this must have more of a percentage of cleanser in it? I find that when you have it on the cotton pad and sort of rub it between your fingers, you kind of get a slippery soap feeling. It definitely doesn't feel like water anyway.

I will keep using this, mainly because I'm stubborn and hate throwing stuff away. I am thinking about using it to clean my brushes though to use it up a bit quicker. I wouldn't buy this one again, I'd definitely recommend the Garnier over this one.

Amazing cleanser

Micellar water wasn't really on my shopping list but the supermarket was out of the eye make up remover I was looking for. I grabbed the Essano to try as it was the most cost effective option on the shelf. It is definitely one of the best make up removers I have tried. It takes off mascara cleanly and without scrubbing. Yes, it stings a bit if you get it in your eyes but a lot less than other products I could mention (cough cough, Clinique I'm looking at you.) You don't need to wash your face afterwards but I tend to do it anyway just because I am so used to doing it with other products.

Tips: Soak a cotton pad and just press it against your eyelashes to remove mascara - much less likely to go in your eyes that way.

Micellar Water

I purchased this because I'd always been interested in the product and it was on special in the supermarket for $6.50. I was a bit worried it being just a water product that it wouldn't really clean my face but it takes off all my makeup, and cleans so well- even my waterproof eye makeup!

I feel like my skin hasn't been in a condition this good for such a long time now! ( I have finally found my HG)

It doesn't really have a scent like a lot of other products from the brand do.

Tips: Wash your face with normal cleanser then use this to get any makeup or dirt on your skin.

Micellar water

I purchased this product as it was on special at the supermarket for $10, and had to try it after reading lots of reviews about Micellar water. Its a great product! I was a little bit worried that it wouldn't clean my face well enough but it works exactly how it should, I was so glad I bought it. It doesn't have a scent to it like the other Essano products which is good because it really feels like my face is extra clean and leaves it so refreshed. It takes off all my makeup including eye makeup too. It is very gentle and doesn't irritate my skin and eye area. I sometimes use it after I have exfoliated for an extra fresh feel. The big bottle is great value for money and I use it almost every day, I even use a little bit to clean my basin when it gets dirty from my makeup, makes it alot easier than getting cleaning products out and scrubbing the basin!
