Skeptical but impressed

I was put off by the price tag to begin with but after many, many rave reviews over the sponge I thought I had to know what the big fuss was all about. I brought it with the cleaner, if I was going to invest $38 in a sponge I wanted to make sure I used it right and looked after it properly. I really love the finish it gives, its almost airbrushed foundation if you dab a little on while slighty damp and then blend on the dry side. Very impressed and the cleaner is lasting forever, really cleans it well.

Wow. This has got good reviews on here. I'm also kinda skeptical but may just have to give this one a go. It does seem like quite a lot to be spending on a sponge, but if it does a really good job, then it seems like a good investment.

My foundation has never looked so good!

A few years ago I would have never thought that I'd be using a sponge to apply my foundation! In fact - looking back at those ratty little circle sponges that come in compacts I would have probably laughed in your face! However - I have officially changed my mind on all sponges after using the amazing, wonderful, pink, Beauty Blender! Ta daaa!

The Beauty Blender is not just any sponge, however. It's especially formed to apply liquid and powder to the face. Not just in it's shape and size, but the way the whole sponge is made makes it unique to copy-cats. I have used dupes and replicas but nothing is as good as the real thing.

The Beauty Blender applies my Double Wear foundation with ease. It uses less foundation than I would normally (despite the rumors of it sucking foundation up), it gives me amazing coverage, and a flawless finish! I promise I'm not a spokes person for Beauty Blenders - I really do just love them!

As a daily foundation wearer with little time in the morning, I am always looking for something that makes my makeup application quicker and easier. This is the tool! I squeeze some water through the sponge, then put some foundation on the back of my hand, dab the sponge in and bounce it around my face. That's all I have to do - it does the rest of the work for me! And I promise you - never has my foundation looked so good.

Downsides - I know it's expensive for what it is. I know. But - it's just so good! Plus you can pick them up a little cheaper online and especially if you buy a duo pack (plus then you've got a backup).

Also - if you don't take care of it, it won't last long. So I have some SARD wonder soap on hand to give it a gentle clean every 2-3 days. I say gentle because it can tear and rip quite easily so you have to watch your nails aren't digging in as you use it.

Overall, I would recommend this beauty to anyone and anything. But mainly to people who wear foundation every day. It is SO much easier than a brush and I swear I use less foundation! If you're really worried about the price or it being a hit and miss - try the Real Techniques sponge as a dupe first. If you like that, then you'll love the Beauty Blender! Let me know how you find it - was it love at first sight?

Tips: Don't be alarmed - it does stain a little! But definitely give it a quick wash every few days to keep bacteria at bay. Also - keep it somewhere fairly dry otherwise they can develop mould which isn't too nice. I use the rounded side for foundation and the pointed side for concealer and get a flawless finish everytime!

The OG Blender!

I got my hands on a black version of this when I purchased Kat Von D's foundation and was really excited to try it!

I used this until the day it died and I mean, died died! I really loved this, and I thought "how hard can it be to make a sponge" and I purchased another brand which was terrible!

The Beautyblender definitely has the right consistency to work well with all types of foundation, concealer and powders, my only downfall is the price of it—it's just so expensive! I'm not sure if I'll repurchase it, I think I'll keep trying my luck to find a dupe that works for me.

Hey Elise, it lasted just over a year for me. I've been using the $3 Kmart ones too! I highly rate them and find not too much difference between the two. If you want to try, have a look at places like Catch of the Day because they have specials!

How long did your beauty blender last? I've been using a $3 one from Kmart for about a year now, but seriously tempted to upgrade.

Say Hello to Flawless Makeup

I was sceptical about the Beauty Blender before I tried it - having heard all the hype, I thought this product was too good to be true! However, after taking the plunge and buying myself one, I'm glad to say that I'm so, so pleased I did!! The Beauty Blender is incredibly easy to use (just dampen, dry and use) and has done wonders for the speed and finish of my make-up application!! It creates an incredibly flawless finish, and is amazing for blending in concealers (especially if, like me, you use a range of different tones for your skin, blemishes and under-eyes). It's a life-saver for blurring out harsh lines when you apply too much blush or bronzer, and makes cleaning up after eyeshadow application a snap! The sponge does tend to create a slightly more sheer finish than when I use brushes or my fingers for application, but that's not a deal-breaker for me. The main downside is that it's more expensive than I'd like, especially since we're forced to buy online and ship to New Zealand, but I'm waiting to see just how long it lasts (it's almost been a month so far) to fully judge whether it's a worthy investment! Overall, I absolutely love the ease and results of my Beauty Blender, and - despite the hefty price tag - I'm definitely considering stocking up!!

Tips: Dampen (whilst squeezing repeatedly) with cool water, towel dry for a couple of seconds, and then start your make-up application for an easy, flawless finish!!

There are quite a few NZ sites that have beauty blenders now to like beautybliss & makeup.co.nz.

My favourite!!!!

I absolutely love this product I use it everyday wet to apply my foundation. For my dry skin it works wonders to make my skin look dewy.

The only downfall I have is that this product eats foundation.

Blending Bestfriend!

So I put this on my Xmas wishlist hesitant because I thought WHO would buy me a sponge for $38.. but thankfully my friend did because I have no been converted to the beauty blender life!

This is beautiful, its applys my makeup so well it looks airbrushed! Unlike other makeup blenders Ive used this doesnt suck any of the makeup up which is such a +++ FAVE WAY TO APPLY MY FOUNDATION!

Tips: Makesure you wash it so it lasts long and because itll get gross with all ya germs, oil and dry makeup!

Dont swipe your foundation on with it, dab (pounce) it on, takes a while to get used to.. my wrist used to get sore haha!

Worth the Hype?

I did really enjoy my beauty blender, it really did give me a very nice flawless coverage with my foundation and i would use it religously every day! But obviously the dont last for ever and i didnt really want to be paying that amount of money every 5-6 months. So i tried the real techniques sponge. Just the same and far cheaper. So over all i did really enjoy it but found a cheaper dupe that worked just the same for me :)

Tips: I use mine damp

So glad I have one of these :)

I had heard about the Beauty Blender from a lot of the Beauty Guru's who I follow on Youtube, they highly raved about it! So I thought why not give it a go. When I first used it to apply my foundation I thought it was nice and hydrating to the skin but because I have more of an oily skin type my skin itself doesnt need this added hydration and I wasnt use to the dewy look that it gave my skin, even when I tried to set it with a powder it still had that look. Im definately more of a matte finish kinda girl so I didnt use it for a wee while. BUT... One day I saw one of the girls that I follow on Youtube using the Beauty Blender to apply her undereye concealer so I thought to try it, I havent used a brush to apply my undereye concealer ever since! Even when I do my friends make up I use it because it gives an amazing finish, I trust that its not going to disappoint and they are always so amazed with how their skin looks and feels after using it! It gives a beautiful finish and is lovely and hydrating which is great especially for the undereye area as that is an area of the face that struggles to get natural moisture in the first place. It also goes perfectly with both my high end and low end concealers. This is a great wee tool to have in your make up kit or to use in your daily routine if you have more of a normal to dry skin as it gives a lovely dewy finish to your skin and will feel amazing in the dry months/ days.

Tips: I havent even bothered trying to use this bone dry but I do notice a difference if I havent made it damp directly before use, doesnt have the same finish otherwise. So make it damps every time and do set it, especially with the undereye area.

To dupe or not to dupe? that is the question

I bought a beauty blender about a year and a half ago, The day i got it i almost wee'd myself i was so excited, it felt amazingly soft, so squishy, so awesome!

Around the same time i also decided to order a few cheapy dupes off ebay just to see if they were any good. And because i became so addicted to using my beauty blender that i felt i needed spares for when my beauty blender was dirty and needed a wash.

After the arrival of my cheapy dupes, i became torn between which was better. I know most people say there is a huge difference, but in all honesty, to me, there wasnt very much difference, Besides the fact that the beauty blender was softer, they both still did the exact same job.

For those of you who have not invested in a beauty blender yet, i suggest checking out a cheap alternative first, you may find it good enough and save yourself a few pennies, But the true beauty blender is still, in my oppinion, well worth the money.

For application of foundation i would give it a 10/10 Application of Concealer 10/10 Blending of foundation and concealer 10/10 Application of creme blush 8/10 as i find a duo fiber brush better but this still does a reasonably good job.

Hope you find this helpful

Oh you've saved me a penny! The hypre makes me think I want it. But the wallet can't spend that much! So, I might just try a cheaper version until I've saved up. Thanks for your review.

In LOVE

Being a Kabuki brush addict I was skeptical about trying this sponge, especially as it is $35 - $40 in New Zealand but I am so glad I did. I will never apply my foundation with anything else now. I dab or "bounce" the sponge over my face with a small amount of foundation on it and it goes on evenly making my face look airbrushed, no brush lines or uneven application. I have also found since using this product my foundation is lasting me much longer than it did when I was using a brush to apply.

Tips: I like to use mine only slightly damp as its smaller and easier to work with
