Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer Review

Eyeshadow primers are a must if you want to make your eyeshadow last longer, not crease and appear brighter. I had heard rave reviews about this and so got it when I made an order on beauty bay.

As with everything Too Faced produce, the packaging is adorable. The design on the tube reminds me of old princesses and is really pretty.

Like Urban Decay's primer potion, this comes in a squeezy tube with a long nozzle. It is easy to squeeze out and it doesn't squirt out everywhere.

You need only a small amount of this to fully cover your lids and it applies transparent. It feels a little sticky, which gives your shadow an awesome base to stick to.

This is very easy to apply - what I do is squeeze a small amount onto my index finger, dot it on my entire eye lid and under my lower lashline if I am wearing eyeliner or shadow there. Then I pat it into my skin gently until the entire area is covered.

I really love this, as it does extend the wear and pigmentation of my eyeshadow. After about 10 hours my shadow starts to crease (I have oily lids), but my eyeshadow stays put all day.

Because you only use a small amount, this is going to last me a long, long time. I will definitely repurchase it when it eventually runs out and I recommend trying it.

I'm bad at remembering to prime on an everyday basis (I don't have issues with oily lids and creasing so it's not a huge necessity for me) but, when I want to be sure my shadow is going to last all day and be more vibrant this is my go to eyeshadow primer.

I purchased this from beautybay.com (where I get all of my too faced products, they are the cheapest I have found that ship free to NZ so far) after reading great things about it.

First of all, the packaging is very functional and cute (as all too faced products). The squeezable tube and fine tip make dispensing a small amount of product really easy as well as allowing you to get every last drop of goodness out :P Being able to dispense a tiny amount is critical with this primer, as with all primers as only a small amount is needed. Too much and you would be better off not applying primer as it can work in the opposite way than intended with too much product. A tiny dot of this covers the entire eyelid and leaves a nice ever so slightly tacky base for the shadow to cling to. The small amount required makes this product pretty good value for money and I'm sure mine will last me a pretty long time.

I find this primer definitely helps with increasing the pigmentation and lasting power of my shadows which is awesome. If I know I'm going to have a long day or am going out after a long day, this gets pulled out. As I said before I don't really have issues with creasing, but from what I have read this does help prevent this also.

I would definitely recommend this primer and will repurchase when I need to (which will be a long way off with the tiny amount I use).

Love love love this stuff, makes eyeshadow stay and looks more intense. Wish it was easier to get though.

After buying this I couldn't imagine buying any other eyeshadow primer. It has such a smooth consistency and feels light on your eyes so you don't feel caked with make up. It also seriously makes your eyeshadow colours pop - especially when using glitter or shimmer shadows! It doesn't irritate my eyes which is amazing as I have quite sensitive skin. It prevents your shadows from creasing and will literally last you all day. The best shadow primer out there and definitely worth the money!

I received a mini of this in a gift pack my beautiful friend bought for me while she was in America. She knew how badly I wanted the kit but I couldn't afford it so the sneak bought it! But I am forever grateful for it, and I am so, so glad I have this primer in my life.

The tube is a lovely blue and it has a small screw top lid. I shake it before I use mine, as I find if I don't the product squirts out a clear liquid and then bits of the product. The product itself is a brown cream of sorts, but when you put it on your lids it doesn't change the color of the eye shadow. You only need the smallest amount so I know my small tube will last a good amount of time!

My eye shadow goes on as normal, if not easier than before when I wasn't using a primer. The lasting power of this is amazing as well - usually my eye shadow creases but with this it doesn't. My eyelids are a little oily so I'm very pleased at how well this works for me. I'm very, very happy with this stuff and I will gladly repurchase!

I’ve used this primer for a few years. Off and on. It has never failed me or let me down. I use it on clients who have sensitive skin and it works great on them as well. It doesn’t allow any creasing and holds your colours on all day with ease! The tube is a good size and it lasts a good while as the product itself spreads very easily and doesn’t take much at all to do its work!

I received a deluxe mini size of this in the 2017 Too Faced Christmas cracker which also included minis of a liquid lipstick (loved it) and the Better Than Sex mascara (never again!) I love this primer. Despite using eyeshadow for decades, I've never really bothered with a dedicated primer - this has changed that! I used it with my Too Faced Bonbon palette eyeshadows and it also works well with other brands. This makes the shadows last all day without fading or creasing, as well as smoothing out my eyelids.

I also like the packaging of this. It comes in an easy to squeeze tube with a pointed end. This means you only squeeze out what you need. I give the tube a bit of a squish before I take the lid off as sometimes the primer can separate - I found this more of an issue when the tube was new. Besides that, I can't fault this primer and will definitely repurchase. On the days I forget to wear it, I definitely see a difference in the longevity of my eyeshadow.

I love too faced as a whole brand but this wee beauty was the reason I started using it! I needed an eyeshadow primer to keep my eyeshadow in place all day and my friend recommended this to me. It keeps my eyeshadow from creasing, smudging and it stays in place all day. I've also found I don't need to pack on as much shadow as the primer helps the colour look more pigmented!

I had this for ages before i bothered trying it - I was already using and loving the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

I think this is better.

For a start, the applicator is small, allowing you to squeeze out a wee dot of product to your brush to apply to your lid . It's also tinted, so it blends seamlessly into skin.

There is a smooth surface left on which you can create your eye art, and (especially when topped with a setting spray!) have it stay in place for longer.

RIP former fave. I'm sold on this one now.
