Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

I have used both this and clarins ever lasting and have to admit that the ever lasting is a bit nicer. I find the ever lasting quite cakey and can highlight dry skin. It certainly does stay on for 15+ hours though

I bought this when I wanted a full coverage foundation, and it did exactly what it said, however I have normal skin and it cracked and dried my skin out and made it feel cakey! Not an everyday foundation for me as it's difficult to remove also and I feel it clogs my pores but if you want a flawless long wearing foundation this is perfect!

OK so I got sucked in by the hype of how well this foundation is meant to be in the terms of full coverage. After getting colour matched (which was free) and it was found that I was the lightest shade (NC1) the wonderful counter sales lady gave me a small pottle (without me asking + she added a pottle of take it off remover too) of it which overflowed! Literally! The liquid spilled all over me when I opened the pottle it was so easy flowing. Although I also brought the full bottle whilst there as I don’t get into a city to be able to purchase normally, plus I had read so many good reviews about it I felt that I didn’t need to trial it.

The application of the foundation is a bit full on, as I am used to wearing lighter BB creams more now a days or my beloved Elizabeth Arden foundation. It’s formula wasn’t as thick as I expected (which is why I resulted in spilling over myself) and it is definitely a foundation where you should start off light and build up the coverage, I went a little heavy handed and found that using a foundation brush was better than my sponge but the normal amount of BB cream I use was far too much for this foundation and had to remove some excess with tissue, which was a little upsetting as I had paid $82 for this bottle of foundation, I didn’t really want to waste any at all. But now I have gotten used to the formula I know how to apply it properly and evenly without any waste.

Coverage, wow ok the hype is right it is amazing, the best coverage I have ever had from a foundation and the colour is spot on. Blended into my neck you can’t tell I am wearing anything. Even the husband commented that my skin looked like a porcelain doll and was flawless, which made me giggle a bit as he never says things like that.

Long-lasting? Yep! its good quality all right, it has a long lasting effect that lasts from 5am through to 8pm, when I remove my makeup, it never moved nor smudged off and still looked as flawless as when I was setting it first thing in the morning, I could very easily wear from work to evening without need to reapply or touch up.

Bottle design is very classic, with a chunky opaque glass bottle and gold toned lid it’s very pretty in its chic little way and being a high end product it takes pride and place on my makeup organiser at the top.

The only problem I found was that my super dry skin wanted to absorb the foundation into my pores, even with the use of a primer I still ended up with dry areas that soaked up the liquid making small white spot marks over my cheeks up close, and around my nose and chin line was flaky. The whole foundation gave my face a tight feel as if I was wearing a mask it wasn’t uncomfortable it’s just that you know you are wearing it. However with these issues I still love it, the dryness is down to my skin and I just need to find the right primer and make sure to treat my skin to some good hydration.

I'm currently using this product after I was offered a sample. The main advantages for me are the shade matches my skin pretty perfectly without making me look washed out ( I have very pale skin) and being a liquid foundation, it doesn't sit in my wrinkles but still gives good coverage and stays on very well. The downsides? It's expensive and does give me breakouts with prolonged use

I was recommended this foundation by so many people as a holy grail type foundation. It has amazing coverage and stays put all day, but the coverage is just too much more me. I feel a bit cake faced with it on and I feel like it emphasises all the tiny hairs on my face. I also felt like my face cracked slightly through the day, but it only felt that way there were no visible signs of the cracking.

I purchased this foundation at makeup direct in Auckland and It was surprisingly cheap they were selling it for $15 and they had my shade which was double awesome. And brought three and I still own all three I'm half way threw my first bottle. I like the look of the bottle it's kind of fancy. I have rosacea all over my checks so it worked it literally covered all of my rosacea I like this product so so much. I do have a lot of other foundations that I adore so much. If a foundation covers my rosacea than I love and I will review.

I love the texture and coverage of the Double Wear foundation range and nothing beat its staying power if you are like me and can't be bothered with power over liquid or creme foundations. The downsides for me have been trying to get a shade that is right (after three purchases of different shades after being matched in store I just mix to get a custom shade that does the trick), it doesn't photograph well and looks chalky under a flash, and it does oxidise in the bottle so needs a really good shake up if you are slow to use a bottle or are alternating with another foundation.

I received a very generous sample size of this during a promotion that was running recently. The make up artist at Life Pharmacy matched this to my skin tone and away I went. This foundation is very easy to use. I apply it with a brush and I achieve a very nice finish with it. I love how this goes on as a liquid foundation but has a matte finish when it has set. I get a very good even beautiful coverage with this foundation and it feels light while on. I would definitely consider purchasing this in the future when I need more foundation.

I am a total mineral foundation addict and generally stay away from liquid foundations. I love the way minerals make my skin look.

However I really wanted to try something totally different and I kept seeing the ads everywhere for Estee Lauder double wear and thought let’s give it a whirl!. I am really pleased I did. I was a little worried that this would be too heavy for my skin and cause problems – I have quite sensitive skin and its prone to over-reacting to new products.

I went and got myself colour-matched as I didn’t think I could trust myself to get this right and ended up with the shade Sand.

I do love the glass bottle that it comes in its a lot more elegant than the foundations im used to however I didn’t like that there is no pump so you just have to pour out the foundation you need – but im no stranger to sometimes messy foundation applications ! /

I started with my usual routine, moisturiser followed by primer and then applied the Estee Lauder double wear with a foundation brush. I poured a little bit of foundation onto the back of my hand and used the foundation brush to apply. I worked on a side of my face at a time as it does set quite quickly. At first I thought it was going to be too heavy and look to made up but I was pleasantly surprised. The colour was actually a perfect match for my skin and working in little sections of my face at a time and quickly blending achieved a flawless finish. I consider this a medium-full coverage ( I personally think moving more towards full coverage) and finishes to a matte type finish. I was very pleasantly surprised how this turned out my skin it looked clean fresh flawless but I don’t feel it looked cakey and it didn’t show up any dry patches or imperfections. It didn’t cause any irritation and it didn’t feel tight or anything on my face like wearing a mask. I didn’t even use any concealer with this so was very pleasantly surprised.

It wore impressively well, my whole work day and then some easily. I love the wear on this and it still looks just as good at the end of the day as it does at the beginning.

The only downside to this for me is the removal required a bit more effort than I’m used to with the mineral foundations but the pro’s far outweighed this one con for me so this is definately my new holy grail product.

I found this to be a really good heavy coverage foundation. It caused less breakouts for me than other foundations so I don't have that problem. The staying power was really good and if I have a day where I need my makeup to stay on I'll use this. The bottle I have at the moment is too dark for me but that's my fault but I think when the summer comes again it will be the right shade. Personally I don't use this foundation everyday as it's very heavy feeling to me. It's a really good foundation for special occasions though, which is what I use it for. I'm not really crazy for the bottle or the price...but I'll live with it.
