Over-rated!

I've been looking for this infamous palette for so long, until one day I found it (the last one as well) in my local farmers. As soon as I paid I went straight home to play around with it, following all the directions on the back of the palette I came out very disappointed. The colours were a bit too dark for my skin tone - im very pale, but were also very chalky and very VERY hard to blend! I definetely would not recommend this palette if your looking for an effortless and well made contour palette, as it made my skin very muddy-looking. I can see how it would be good for beginners who are starting out with contouring as it is very affordable at $21.50 per palette.

Tips: If wanting to make it easier to blend, i recommend using high quality brushes.

It's okay

I got this because everything I read said this was a dupe for the ABH contour palette, but at a drug store price and you wouldn't argue with an approximate $30 savings, right? I've had a few misses with this palette. You have to start so lightly and then build. One of the dark shades looks dreadful on my. But I do like the yellow highlight for under the eyes and the highlight for the top of the cheek bones, but I think next time I want a highlighter like that, I'll just buy some splurge products because these are just so damn powdery.

Tips: An okay entry level product, but if you're a bit more pro, fork out the extra money and get the ABH Contour palette.

Big hype but failure to execute

I was nervous to give this a bad-ish review seeing the other 4 and 5 star reviews and the OMG I LOVE THIS comments I have been hearing but I do this in the most honest way possible. I was lucky enough to buy this with the help of a lovely BR babe because after hunting high and low in our Farmers stores they were always sold out as soon as they come in.

$18.90 like I paid is I think a great price for something so sought after and very affordable to those obsessed with makeup like me but are on a tight budget. I love the packaging it's quite edgy but feminine, alot like me. It's black with Australis AC Contour Kit on the top. The plastic palette is quite flimsy and wouldn't stand the test of being dropped or stood on. It would surely splinter and crack in to a thousand pieces. Inside is the six shades of contour powder which for an amateur is quite daunting. I proceeded with an open mind and a heart full of hope nonetheless.

I bought a contour brush and blender especially for the occassion and watched numerous Youtube tutorials to make sure I was equipped with the knowledge I needed to know about where and how it went on. I also studied the helpful guide on the back of the case which to me seems silly because how are we going to reference back to this when we have to keep turning it over while we are using it!

The texture itself is quite chalky and sticks too much. I found it is very hard to blend in and looks too obvious that you have contour on. I find the product falls out of my brush too much and it ends up in a dusty mess on my top. I have found that less is more Even brushing my brush through delicately too much product comes up. I use very minimal and even that looks too fake. I am at a loss with how to use it to look good on my skin and this is with trying more than 20 times. I just find it isn't for me and is too low quality to get any benefit from it.

Tips: Use minimal because too much and it is very noticeable

Not Worth The Hype

At first, I was super excited when I first got my hands on this. It was like liquid gold in terms of trying to find one when I was in Australia earlier in the year. But as soon as I tried it, I was definitely disappointed. It was not worth the hype at all!

Let's start with the positives - we all like a good positive! For me, there was only two things that I loved about this. Firstly, the price. At $21.50 for a contour kit, you are pretty much making money. I've seen kits similar for far more (and there is probably a reason why). It's a great price!

Secondly, the only other positive was the packaging. I love Australis' new look - it's got swag. So sleek and pretty!

Alright, now my two positives are over.. here's we go with the negatives. First of all, the colours are all wrong. I feel like it's far to warm and dark for anyone (well, any pale Snow White-esque person at least). And what the hell am I suppose to do with that weird peachy colour anyway? Or those super dark browns?!

Second, it's so chalky and hard to blend! No matter how hard I try, I end up looking like bad drag Kardashian. I've tried all different brushes (and even went in with a dry brush). It justs sits on top of the skin and does not want to move. Ugh. And there is so much fall out! SO MANY FALLOUT!

And thirdly, you cannot build the product up. No matter how little product you take, it's so super pigmented it's ridiculous. I can't believe I'm actually complaining about something being too pigmented, but I am. Contour powders should be a lighter pigment so you can build up to what you want!

I've tried to love it, but I just cannot. Maybe it's me, maybe it is the product but I do not think that I would recommend this to anyone.

Contour Kit!!

I find the Australis AC on tour contour kit very affordable and easy to use! And recommend it to people who are new to trying contouring and highlighting! They are very pigmented and only need a little bit to build the colour up. Overall a great affordable product suitable for any occasion to frame any face shape :)

Tips: Start with a small amount on brush then build it up to the amount you like, also I find using a more softer brush easier than a dence bronzer brush

cheap and great kit

This is a very affordable kit for those wanting to try weather your new to contouring and highlighting or a pro, you only need a little bit on your brush to set you a long way with 3 highlights and 3 contouring colours catering for night time or day time looks. I love this product and highly recommend

Powdery And Sometimes Hard To Blend

This kit is okay. Not great, not bad. With my ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer duo, my ELF bronzer brush worked perfectly to blend out powder. With this, I can't use it.

First of all I love the packaging. Super small, sleek, matte black and it fits in my make up bag to take the place of up to 4 products.

But when it comes to the actual products, I don't love them. Firstly they're all super powdery, no matter how lightly I tap into them. Two of the highlights aren't intense enough for me while the banana shade can't be used to set under my eyes because the yellow really shows up on my skin. Not pretty.

There is one colour that I feel is suitable for contouring, but it's very intense. One's super warm toned and the other is slightly warmed toned, but still enough to make it useless for contouring. I can barely get away with the shades on my skin. One up side is that they are all super pigmented, the downside is that I often end up with streaks of brown on my cheeks that wouldn't look flattering on anyone. None of my brushes except my Real Techniques ones work when trying to blend this harsh line out. Also the powder gets everywhere. Inside the palette, outside the palette, on my vanity... Ugh.

When it comes to contouring and bronzing I prefer shades that AREN'T super pigmented, cos then I can build them up to the intensity that I like. With these they're just too much even when using only a little bit of product. My hopes for this palette being a low cost dupe for the Anastasia Contour Kit have gone down the drain. Now while I don't hate this kit, I think it's overhyped and I prefer my $6 duo from ELF much more.

Update: I'm loving this product a lot more now. I've found after a bit of practice as long as I use a super light hand, I can get a nice contour from this. I'm loving the warmer shade as a bronzer and the shimmery highlight shade is stunning. Just wish the contour would last better on the face.

Tips: Don't be afraid to use these colours on your eyes if you're travelling and trying to pack super light.

Good price but wrong shades

The contour shades in this are very dark. They should have at least one shade that's more suited to pale people. I can use 2 of the colours if I'm light handed but the third I will never use as it too orange and too dark. I feel this is suited to only those with medium to dark complexions. The highlight shades are all nice though so I will use it for highlighting only. The consistency is very powdery but it is easy to blend. I will only repurchase if they make a better colour range.

Tips: Make sure you set your foundation with powder before you try use this or it will grip and be impossible to blend.

Maybe it was me but I don't like this

Firstly I am new to contour and after many tutorials and recommendations plus the hype around this Australis kit I thought I would try my hand at it, I am one of those people who will give anything a go once in regards to makeup and in general.

Design of this product is so pretty in its sleek thin almost matte black casing and huge flash of metallic pink across the lid showing the name of the product and the logo. Then you open it up and there is a huge mirror and the 6 quite large sized discs of contouring shades. The formula of them are chalky and very powder on my already dry skin even on top of primed and foundation skin these seem to look very flat and drying on my skin.

The major problem I found was that this is a universal kit for all skin tones, there is no light, medium or dark kit its one item fits all and this is disappointing as even the lightest shades for contouring in the palette were warm toned and stuck on my skin like I had spent the day painting the whole look just didn't suit me and was very obvious on my face no matter how lightly I applied or how I blended it to fade together. I think now I have played with this kit a couple of times and passed onto to someone who will use it, that I need to try the cream contour kits that are designed for the fairer skin.
