Soothing sapphire and Rosy Quartz

I was lucky enough to be sent two Sally Hansen polishes, a top coat and a cuticle oil to trial.

I was sent Soothing Sapphire (a lovely, rich, shimmery royal blue colour) and Rosy Quartz (a baby pink). I really like the fact that there was argan oil to help nourish the nails. The bottles are beautiful - thick, square glass bottles that look so luxurious with silver tops.

The brush is wide and soft, allowing for easy and even application. I find that the pink is a bit sheer and needs 3 coats to be opaque, but 2 coats would be beautiful if you want a sheer polish. The sapphire is a beautiful shade that is opaque with 2 coats and perfect for fall/winter (or even a party!)

I feel that drying time was standard, and each polish lasted about 6 days on me before chipping, usually they would last around 4 days. I felt that they did indeed care for my nails when I was wearing them, since usually when I remove them, my nails tend to be drier and almost flaky. This was not the case with these polishes.

Both polishes were easy to remove and didn't stain. Overall, I love the ones I was sent and will be looking for more in this range!

Tips: Wait in between coats for drying for easier application!

Sally Hansen Colour Therapy Nail Polish

I was lucky enough to be sent two polishes, the cuticle oil and the top coat to trial from Beauty Review. And this is definitely one of those products I will be purchasing more of as a result!

I was sent two colours that I normally would never choose. I spent the first week wearing Blushed Petal (190) and the second week wearing Teal Good (460). And I am impressed! Blushed Petal is a peachy-nude shade – I love neutral polishes but I thought this one was a little too peachy for my skin tone. I did actually grow to quite like it especially adding a statement nail. This will be a great shade for summer though so I shall be reusing it then. The Teal Good colour, again, is not something I would usually pick myself. However, after applying and wearing for a few days, I actually kind of love it! It is a deep teal shade – both warm and bright. Perfect for winter and have actually had random people compliment me on the colour!

The polish lasted around five days before I started noticing some chipping along the tips of my nails. I am usually terrible with chipping my nail polish but I haven’t had any chipping anywhere apart from right on the tips of my nails which to me is just normal wear and tear. So it appears to be reasonably long lasting and on this alone I will purchase other colours.

This polish is pretty standard in how it applies. When I first used the Blushed Petal I found it went on quite streaky and after applying the top coat (despite leaving my nails to dry for quite a while) it only made it worse. So I removed the polish the next day (of which it came off super easy and I was really impressed with that – I had having to scrub off nail polish) and reapplied being a little more generous with my application. This second time it went on a lot easier with very little streaking. I did not have this same issue with the Teal Good colour so this may just be because of the lighter nude shade. I found two coats to be about right for both of these polishes. One didn’t quite provide full coverage; two coats provided just enough coverage without being too thick.

These polishes claim to care while you wear. I had doubts about this but I actually found my nails are looking better! I have terrible nails – they break constantly, have crazy noticeably ridges all over and peel. So really, my nails couldn’t get any worse! So far, my nails have grown! When I removed the first polish to trial the second, my nails were looking a little less ridge-y (smoother) and they didn’t peel like they normally do after removing nail polish. I will attribute this to their argan oil formula as most other nail polishes often dry out my nails; I haven’t had this with this polish.

Overall, I will definitely be buying more of these polishes. They lasted well considering my nail polish track-record and the colours, despite me initially not really liking, have grown on me and actually look really good on! The only task now is to decide which other colours to buy!

Tips: Apply two decent coats for the best coverage.

Beautiful Polish

I was stoked to be able to trial the Sally Hansen Colour Therapy range. When the package arrived I eagerly ripped it open. It consisted of 2 polishes, cuticle oil and a top coat.

I love the packaging. Classy looking glass bottles with square bottoms and metallic lids. They hold 14.7 ml of product. Nice wide, flat brushes which makes applying a breeze.

The 2 colours I got were a nude called Blushed Petal and the most gorgeous purple called Slicks and Stones. I was very happy with both colours but the purple is so striking and just happens to be my favourite colour.

I prepped my nails and applied the first coat, both polishes have a great consistency. They are very fast drying so the second coat can be done fairly quickly which I love. The brush is awesome and with 2 swipes on each nail I am good to go.

I applied Slicks and Stones on a Friday and by Wednesday it started to show wear on my tips and I had a small chip so I decided to remove it. So 5 days of wear with the polish looking great is really amazing! I definately do not get this with other polishes.

Both polishes were easy to remove and left no staining at all. I really love this range and look forward to trying other colours. Thanks BR for letting me trial this. A huge thumbs up from me.

Sally Hansen Colour Therapy Nail Polish.

I was lucky enough to be chosen for this trial and received two fill sized bottles of nail polish along with a bittle of Top Coat and Cuticle Oil. The colours were Mud Mask, a brown neutral and Aura'nt You Relaxed? a bright coral. Bottled in a squarish, sturdy bottle, the product itself is a good consistency, not too thick and not too thin. The star of the polish is the brush. Flat and square, it dispenses the perfect amount for each nail. I found that two coats were enough. Usually nail polish will past two days before chipping, but with this polish i was able to last four. I'm not sure if this was the polish or the top coat, (which i'm not a fan of), and the argan oil ingredient seems to work. My nails didn't feel as dry as usual when i removed the polish. I'll definitely look for a coiple of new colours from this range.

Tips: Use two + coats.

A Nail Polish WIN!

How lucky was I to get on this trial? Super Lucky!! I like Sally Hansen's products, I was introduced to her a few years ago in Australia with Gel Polish & I have tried other polishes here and there, but this range of nail polish takes them all out!

Firstly, the colours are good - it shouldnt be too tricky to find at least one for you. I got to try Soothing Saphire (deep gorgeous Blue) and Mud Mask (neutral brown).

The brush is fantastic, nice shape and width, meaning this polish is easy to apply with little strain - I hardly went over the edges at all!!

Quick drying - even after the second coat. Two coats are required, so be prepared for that. Do try to sit still, not itch anything and not have the sudden desire that you must do XYZ right now! If you can give it 5 minutes, you will be set for DAYS!

that is right DAYS - I managed to get the first colour to last near perfectly for at least 72 hours, then I did gardening and really put the pressure on. There was a small amount of wear at the tips earlier, but unless someone was inspecting them, you wouldn't know (pics are on the wall). I did also use the top coat and I applied the Cuticle & Nail oil daily.

When removing, there was no staining and the polish was easy to remove with a few wipes. My nails looked fine, not dried out or anything bad.

This is a polish I will have good confidence in - if I'm planning a nice night out, I could prepare my nails the night before rather than rush everything on the day.

Tips: Let the polish dry completely - put a movie on before you start, relax... plan 30 minutes - it's worth it!

Perfect until removal

I received Ohm my Magenta and Powder room to trial, and I decided to go with Ohm my magenta first. It's not really a magenta though, I'd describe it as vampy, deep red. A gorgeous color with a femme fatale kind of vibe.

Holy moly the application was delightful. The brush is wide and dense, and deposits a perfect amount of nail polish. The consistency is probably a tiny bit thinner than normal, but I found that it actually made application less streaky. The color is super opaque, and after two coats it lieterally looked like I had acrylics on. (I was actually asked by multiple people if my nail were fake!) The longitivity is also stellar. By day 4 it had the tiniest of chips along the tips of the nail, but hardly noticeable. I decided it to remove it this morning, after a whooping 6 days! And even then, the chipping wasn't major. So now you're wondering, why didn't she give it five stars? Well the tragedy started when I noticed that the polish of one nail was lifting off like a sticker. So I commited the ultimate nail sin and lifted that whole piece of polish off. It was super satisfying in the moment , but to my horror I looked at the underside and it had taken the top layer of my nail with it O.O Yes, the polish had lifted the very top layer, it wasn't much, but it was terrifying. It didn't hurt or anything, and I guess it was just one layer of cells. But that'd never happened before and I'm never going to manually peel of nail polish ever again.

Aside from that though, removal was great! Despite its deep colour, it didn't stain at all and my nails feel relatively strong. I don't notice any major improvements but I guess one week isn't long enough to tell.

Tips: Don't bring the color polish all the way to your cuticles, a tiny gap will help prevent chipping and look much more professional!

Wowsers

Over a year ago I tried jamberrys. Love the concept but just couldn't get them to stay on. After I gave up my nails were weak, always peeling and ripping off. I tried a few products to heal my nails but nothing worked. Had a bit of success with cuticle oil, the peeling wasn't as bad. I resigned my self to weak naked nails. I even had a gel manicure done and they still ripped off. Nail polishes never last more than 24 hours on my nails, even high end brands. Then I saw the article about these color therapy polishes and got really excited, I was of course sceptical but oh so hopeful. I mean this is 2017, our nail polishes should be amazing by now haha. I begged to be part of this trial, if they worked on my nails, after all I have tried etc, then they must be amazing. The cuticle oil was a nice oil, I took note of the fact you don't use before applying the polish. So I left it on for a bit then washed my hands. I was interested in the polish brush, short and stubby, but it actually made applying the polish a lot easier. It dried so fast, faster than the quick dry polishes I have tried. The top coat took a little longer but still fast. I tried the color slicks and stones which I love, a dark purple with a touch of glitter. Hubby loved the colour too. The result was amazing, wowsers, the polish stayed on for nearly a week, that doesn't happen to me,!! Best of all, my nails did not peel or rip at all!! I can't believe it. I am speechless. How did it work?? Wowsers!! I am going to chuck out my collection of useles polishes and stock up on this stuff. As a busy mum having pretty nails is a treat, but now I know it will not only stay on for more than a few hours, as well as continue to strengthen and heal my nails, I'm gonna have pretty nails all the time. THANKYOU THANKYOU. Sally Hansen Color Therapy, you did it!!!

Tips: Do one hand at a time, ensuring one hand is done and useable before doing the other as inevitably you will have to do something in the middle of doing your nails.

Great nail polish!

I reviewed the two shades Pampered in pink and Teal good. Pampered in pink is a really pretty hot pink shade (ideal for summer) and Teal good is a dark teal shade. The nail polishes come in a standard glass nail polish bottle, but is very pretty. The lid is rose gold making this nail polish look rather luxurious.

The formula is a good consistency and isn't too gluggy. The applicator brush is a standard nail polish brush allowing for easy application. I found the nail polish applied on really nicely. I apply two coats to make sure my nails look nice and bright, I apply one coat and then wait 2 minutes before applying the next.

After applying all coats of the polish I wait until the polish is dry and then apply the colour therapy top coat. Unfortunately when I applied this is did smudge some of the polish underneath even though my nails were dry, I found there was less smudging when I used a less amount of top coat.

Once the process was complete my nails did look really nice and the nail polish was really glossy looking and opaque.

I don't feel that I have used this nail polish for long enough to notice any effects from the argan oil however my nails appear healthy after using this and aren't cracked or brittle which has often occurred for me when using other brands of nail polish.

Overall I really enjoyed reviewing this nail polish. It is definitely one of the best ones I have used and I highly recommend.

Chai on Life & Aura'nt You Relaxed?

I trialed two shades of this polish - Chai on Life & Aura'nt You Relaxed?

The packaging is beautiful, a really solid bottle with an attractive gold metallic lid. The labels are subtle and this bottle is easily displayable.

The brush is a good size, flat and wide but not too wide for the little finger. I found the brush took 2 strokes for most fingers. It is easy to overload the brush with polish which is something to watch out for!

The Chai on Life colour really surprised me, I don't tend to go for nudes but this is a great natural colour which is not peachy or pink. It is a cooler beige shade that is perfect for work. It also has a satiny pearl finish once it dries which I love! Again with the Aura'nt You Relaxed? shade, I wasn't sure it was me until I put it on! A beautiful bright coral shade and really opaque, I only needed one coat. The shade borders on neon but it a classy way, it's a really fun colour but also totally work appropriate!

I really like the formula, it is not thick, not watery but it is 'thin' or maybe 'fluid' is a better word. It spreads really well and is super easy to apply, just watch out for too much product on the brush as it does spread out. With the right amount on the brush it applies beautifully and not streaky at all.

With the Chai on Life nude I did apply two coats for a good even colour and needed a touch up here and there for a streak or two but for a nude it was good. The polish dries really well, by the time I finished the first coat I could begin a second. Two coats were dry to the touch after a few minutes and ready to go and do stuff after 10 minutes.

The polish lasted really well, I wore the Chai on Life with top coat for five days without a chip, I only removed it to try the other shade.

I think you would maybe need to trial this over a longer period to really tell if the formula improves nail condition, I didn't notice any improvement there, but it is a beautiful product and I will definitely be buying more shades!

Tips: Be careful not to put to much on the brush and wait until absolutely dry before adding top coat to avoid streaking.

Primrose & Proper and Teal Good

Beauty Review sent me two Sally Hansen Color Therapy polishes "Primrose & Proper", a pretty pink and "Teal Good", the top coat and matching Cuticle Oil, and as I wear gel polish on my fingernails, I tested these traditional polishes on my toes.

In order to really test them out, I deliberately dehydrated my toe nails prior to receiving the Sally Hansen polishes, to the point where they started getting white dehydration marks (which do go away if cuticle oil is applied to the nail on a daily basis, for at least a week). When my parcel from BR arrived, I applied two coats of Sally Hansen Color Therapy in “Primrose & Proper”, with a nail art design stamped onto the big toe in Sally Hansen Color Therapy in “Teal Good” (these polishes are pigmented and thick enough to stamp well - see pic on Photo Wall).

The wide, flat brush made it easy to paint my little toes with one swipe of the brush, while my big toes only needed two swipes per coat, and the formula is quick drying, so by the time I'd done the first coat, I was able to go straight back to the first toe and start painting the second coat. No sitting around waiting for polish to dry.

One thing I don't like about the packaging is that the bottles have very square edges at the base. This makes it really uncomfortable to roll the bottles in the palms of my hands prior to use. I don't like to shake my nail polish and prefer to gently roll the bottles in the palms of my hands, to prevent air bubbles being trapped in the liquid. Obviously, this is something that the Sally Hansen packaging designers didn't really think about.

I wanted a good comparison between using the polish with cuticle oil and without cuticle oil. To do this, I only used Sally Hansen's Color Therapy Cuticle Oil on the toes on my left foot, as that was the one with the worst dehydration damage. I wanted to see what the oils in the polish would do on their own (on my right foot), without the added help of daily cuticle oil.

Well, four days after I'd first applied the polish, I noticed a chip in the middle of the big toe of my right foot (no cuticle oil applied to this foot). The polish on my left foot, where I'd been applying cuticle oil daily, still looked as good as it did on day one! I removed the Sally Hansen nail polish after 8 days, and my toe nails no longer had signs of dehydration (the white marks were gone).

Tips: Review continued: ... So, does it really work and live up to the promises? The oils added to Sally Hansen's Color Therapy nail polishes definitely do make them kinder to nails and they do seem to nourish and hydrate the nails to a certain extent, but this doesn't mean that cuticle oil doesn't need to be used. I think the results speak for themselves. Cuticle Oil still needs to be applied on a daily basis, not only to nourish the nails but to keep the polish flexible and prevent it from chipping. I still wouldn't recommend leaving this nail polish on for more than two weeks, even with daily use of cuticle oil, as the oils in the polish will eventually stop nourishing your nails when the polish gradually starts drying out, removing moisture from your nails instead of nourishing them.
