Butter me up!

I have amassed a few different colours in the London Butter range. The colours are just a little bit different to the shades of other brands. London Butter is now by far my favourite brand as the polish wears very well and takes longer to chip off. Two layers is enough for a bright glossy even coat that will outlast even the good well known brands.

I like the eye catching square faced bottle with clean minimalist branding, but find the extra lid a little annoying and unnecessary. It's the first thing that gets lost.

The range is not as broad in colours as OPI or ESSE but as polish goes it is as good as, if not better in performance.

Butter London Nail Lacquer

I have to give this brand 10 out of 10 for their range of gorgeous colours. They are quite unique and stunning. I dont mind the square shape of the bottle, its a bit different. The lid is not your usual either. I actually pulled the square part of the lid off, and I wasnt sure if that was the right way but I managed to use the inner lid.

I applied the first coat to clean dry nails. It went on ok, though it isnt my favourite polish to apply. It dried quite quickly and I applied the second coat. The colour looked gorgeous and I was happy with the result.

I had high hopes for this but I did find that it chipped the next day at work, I was so dissapointed. I tried it again but this time I used a gel top coat from another range and it seemed to last a few more days. I believe I shouldn't have had to use a gel coat to make it last longer, but thats what it took.

Overly Priced

Butter London has been on my list of polishes to buy ever since I saw a trial for it a while ago on Beauty Review, looking back it was the Lady bird colour that I really wanted to try. A Bucket Sale came into town and that's when I decided to make my first purchase of this nail colour. I always like to buy one and then buy more later if it's good or not.

The colour I chose is called Two Fingered Salute. This colour is a light green grey with speckled gold glitter through it. The packaging of this polish is classic . I like that it's rectangular shaped. A nice change from the usual shaped bottles. On the outside of this bottle is the Butter London labelling. I like this little bird that's on the lid of the nail polish stick. The brush is very normal just like any other brush. The consistency of this lacquer is very runny.

When I apply this to my nails I like to apply two to three coats to get good coverage of my nail. I find the consistency of this polish easy to cover my nails with. Unfortunately I did not have a base and top coat when I used this polish.

After two days of wearing this polish I did notice some chipping . It didn't last long at all. The packaging is really nice though. I think it's highly priced. I am so glad I purchased it on sale. I definitely wouldn't buy this again. I just don't think it lived up to what I thought it would be. I will return to see if it lasts longer with top and bottom coat.

I'm not Giddy, nor Kipper.

I had my eye on these polishes for a while, they were popping up on BR and at Big Bucket sales. Weirdly I never saw them in store, so recently I decided to acquire some. I found the only shade I liked was Giddy Kipper, so I added it to my bucket and off I went.

The lid confused me the most - you lift off the big square and underneath is a little brush with a cute bird print on top. Whether it's supposed to do this, I have no idea.

The color I got is a gorgeous indigo purple in the bottle, with a bit of shimmer throughout. That's the only reason I picked the color up - I'm a sucker for purple! It's true to color on the nail, but in photographs it comes up more blue, and in some lights it looks more blue as well. But it's still lovely.

The formula isn't overly buttery, and towards the end of one nail the formula got thick very quickly and was gluggy and hard to work with - something I don't like in a polish. The brush is small and not overly easy to use. The color payoff is good though, and you can get away with one coat although two is best.

Unfortunately this polish began chipping the same day, and because of that I wouldn't repurchase. It might just be this shade but I don't like the formula or staying power.

I always saw them too, and with the BR trial I was even more intrigued but yeah, not for me!

I've seen them in stores before and never tried them - thanks for guinea pig-ing so I can avoid them! x

Oh yes, i could get used to this

Butter Nail polishes, they weren't even on my radar 6 months ago, but after seeing them at a big bucket sale for around $12, i though i may as well try it, since i had heard good things about it.

The bottle is so cute. Its square, and quite flat. I just like this design because it is a little bit different to every other nail polish. The glass bottle is see through and gives you a good look at the colour your buying but i always google an online swatch so i don't get any surprises. I also actually really enjoyed the brush. I found it really easy to control where the nail polish went which meant no big clean up job afterward.

The formula is pretty nice. I found that only one coat was enough to provide great color, but i still did two because im used to doing two coats. I also found the last around 2 days with no top coats and around 4 days with a top coat, which is saying a lot because nail polishes seem to chip on my nails really easily.

I have googled butter nailpolishes, and they have an impressive range of shades and colour. It almost makes me drool. However, i find these really hard to track down. I have never seen them being sold in stores, unless its a big bucket sale, and when i find them online they are quite pricey.

So even though i would use these again, i would only be able to buy them if they were on special, otherwise they are way out of my price range. Even though the colour range and quality is good, i don't think it justifies the price.

Loooooove the shades!

Let me start by saying Butter London has INCREDIBLE shades.

Their polishes also have smooth application, good opacity, and really good wear time. The only thing I dislike about these is the thinness of the brush and the price - they are a bit expensive but for the right shades it's totally worth it.

Totally wait till you can get these on a deal or discount and don't be afraid of some of their more out their colours! The finish on them looks good regardless of whether you like the shade or not.

Tips: Spend some time getting used to the brush and make sure you have enough product on it for the whole nail.

Champers and Stag Do

I love nail polish but hadn't tried Butter London Nail Lacquer before partly due to the availability and partly due to the price, it's a bit pricier than other polishes.

I have this in the colours Champers, a beautiful pearlescent rose gold, and Stag Do, a grey-based dark forest green, which I purchased from another BR member. I really like the formula, not too runny or thick but just the right consistency. I found Champers was opague in two coats and Stag Do in one.

The brush of the polishes is a little smaller than normal but I actually like that as I found it easier to paint smaller nails without getting polish everywhere. I also like the square, sleek packaging of the Butter polishes which are very classy.

I can't give much in the way of longevity as I only wear polish in the weekend but I found they lasted on me pretty much the same as OPI or Essie.

I wouldn't purchase these at full price but I would if they were on special!

Love the packaging and non-generic shades

When I first heard about Butter London lacquers on overseas blogs, I was excited to try them and was ecstatic to find them in Farmers and Smith and Caughey, Newmarket. Like other reviewers have commented, they are a bit pricey and so I also tend to buy the shades that are not easily found elsewhere. The first BL I hunted for was Disco Biscuit, because why wouldn't anyone not want a hot pink with bright iridescent sparkles? (it dried a bit gritty but nothing a thick top coat couldn't smooth out) The names are cheeky, the rectangle bottles are awesome, and I like the small brush - makes it easy to apply. I love that they also have a sticker over the lid and bottle - that way I know that I am buying a bottle that hasn't been 'tried out' in the shop. I don't have trouble with chipping as this usually depends on using a base and top coat best suited to your body chemistry.

Tips: My favourites so far are: Stag Do - a dark greyed out deep green creme with a light green sheen Blagger - A bright royal blue creme The Black Knight - Bright purple, blue and copper micro glitter in a black base

Champers and Stag Do

These nail polishes have been on my wishlist for a very long time. Luckily I managed to find a few cool shades at the latest bucket sale in town and picked up two for $20. I picked up the shades 'Champers' (a lovely rose gold shade), and 'Stag Do' (a light Navy shade with a greeny blue shimmer in it). They are both really different shades that I don't have in any other brand.

I love the square packaging of these (I feel like I say that in every review!). It is so different from other nail polishes. It has a square lid that you take off to expose the round lid that holds the brush. The brush itself is round and easy to apply. Because the distance from the handle to the end of the brush is quite short it makes it seem even easier to use.

Champers - easy to apply. In two coats it was opaque although I added an extra one just to make sure. Beautiful colour a silvery rose gold that I can't find anywhere else. It is also quite shimmery, but not in a glittery sort of way.

Stag Do - This is also really easy to apply. Almost opaque with one coat! It comes out as a creamy navy shade mainly with a slight shimmer when you look really closely. This also drys to the touch quite quickly.

Unfortunately both of these chipped on me after only one to two days wear which really isn't good enough. Although the colours are extremely original and beautiful I just can't deal with them chipping or wearing out on the tips so quickly so I won't be repurchasing.
