Colourstay or Colourgo?

I used to call this 'Porn Star' lipstick, I know, so very dodgy! Not because of personal experience but because of the staying power of the lipstick! Shall I dig the hole any deeper? Ok, onwards and upwards, let's get on with the job in hand, Revlon Colourstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick, I have shades that I absolutely love and the staying power (keep it clean people) is incredible. The 'Supermodel' shade would be my holy grail of lipsticks and shades. It is wearable in any situation and oh so durable. I'll put it on in the morning, eat throughout the day, drink umpteen coffees (bad I know!), knock back red wine at night (it's good for you), and still have to cleanse it off my lips before going to bed - all from one application. Obviously, there is wear during the day, there is some transfer on my first cup of coffee, however, it wears evenly and come bedtime looks more like a pretty lip stain than a lipstick. I also have the shade 'Backstage' which is a richer plum than 'Supermodel' and 'Cruise Collection' and 'Finale' which are more orangey reds. Interestingly the orangey reds shades are more Colourgo on me, they both have terrible transfer and wear very quickly and unevenly, leaving the 'I was wearing lipstick' look. I'm not sure if it is something to do with colours and formulas, clearly, I am no expert or if it is just my lips that are not receptive to those shades. Overall though, I think they are super good value for money especially if you find shades that Colourstay on you like my beloved 'Supermodel'

Revlon didn't live up to expectations...

Unfortunately, I didn't like wearing this lipstick. It looked great, but felt really uncomfortable on. It was tight, very sticky and drying. My lips felt stiff and horrible! I have worn cheaper long lasting lipsticks that were way better.

Dissapointing

I purchased this at Target in the U.S, where it was quite cheap, and on sale to boot, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered - and I'm glad I didn't pay full price, as it turns out. I love a good red lippy that *actually* stays put, but doesn't dry the lips out, and this is what this Revlon Suede lippy promised. Alas, it fell well short of such promises. It's easy enough to apply, being a good shape and tube for application, but once on, feels and looks very drying (and aging!). I tried applying lip balm first the second time I used it, to counter the drying, but this just made the lipstick slide off even more quickly. It really didn't last the day, not even an hour or so. Frankly, there are better truly long lasting lipsticks out there, that also don't dry the lips, for similar prices.

Not the best

This lipstick isn't very creamy and is very drying. I can not remember the colour I use to own but I didn't really wear it often due to the chunks of glitter on the lipstick. I also didn't Like the feel of the lipstick on my lips. It's drying and my lips felt uncomfortable. The upside to this lipstick is that it lasts a long time

Long Lasting - Just Not All Over My Lips

Ok, so all in all, I like this product. I need (read: NEED) a long lasting lippy, because I conduct weddings so can't be reapplying my lippy every ten minutes.

I found this to be better than other lipsticks (not long lasting ones) in the sense that I didn't lick it off immediately. The disappointing part with this, though, is application. I think I've done it great, and then I talk and you can clearly see parts of my lip that either I've missed or it's come off immediately. So, I have to coat and pout and fish-face into the mirror, it's a long process. Once it's on, I have to remember to LEAVE IT. When I reapply, it tends to layer and crumble. The worst thing is having crumbling lippy!

So, yes - I like it. Will I buy again when this one runs out? Not likely - the hunt for the ultimate long lasting lippy continues. Will I buy it again some time in the future? Maybe.

Tips: Apply it once and leave it. Reapplication causes it to crumble and flake.

Revlon Colourstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick

I tried this lipstick as part of my quest to find a long lasting lipstick. And in terms of how long the lipstick lasted it didn't do too badly, it also didn't really last any longer than some of the lipsticks I tried that weren't marketed as long lasting lipsticks.

In terms of applying the lipstick, the colour didn't actually come out as pigmented as I expected but was still a strong colour when applied properly. The texture also succeeded in its suede intention.

The lipstick was packaged in the retractable bullet form with the bottom half of the tube being the same colour as the lipstick. I think Revlon could have don't something more exciting with theri packaging personally.

After applying the lipstick stayed on relatively well although it did get a little drying like most lipsticks.

Colour does stay

I have colour 070. Beautiful colour to wear when going out to enjoy dinner, or special occasions. Colour does stay well. Learnt to make sure i have applied it in all the right areas on my lips the first time well as it is hard to take off once on. The reason I say a 3 out of 5 for using it again is mainly due to the staying effect and if your in a hurry you dont apply it correctly, your in trouble.

Tips: Make sure you apply right the first time, once its on its a good as staying

Lasting colour, beautiful shade

Usually I have to compromise between a lasting lipstick that is dry on my lips or a greasy moisture lipstick that lasts 30 minutes. I bought this brand (lipstick colour 035) as it was on sale and I wanted a long lasting lipstick that stayed on even after eating. It is slightly dry but lasts all day. I hate greasy lipsticks. The colour is a beautiful plum shade without being too harsh for my fair skin. It is a small lipstick though and expensive. As much I as like the lipstick, I wouldn't want to pay full price.

Tips: buy it on sale

Dry Lipped Nightmare

I bought my Revlon Colourstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in a Revlon gift box. This was fortunate as I would have been devastated had I paid full price for this product. The lipstick applied smooth and creamy but after less than an hour wearing it, my lips felt horribly dry and chapped. It also has a nasty tendency of settling into fine lines on the lips. I didn't think the lipstick was any more long lasting than a standard lipstick and 'suede' is not at all how I would describe the finish. Would not recommend.

Tips: I have this is the shade Runway, which looks nice enough in the bullet but when applied is very copper toned and much too shimmery for my taste.

Dry Lips - Fast

I love this colour, I love how long it lasts, but I found that I had to keep applying a gloss as it made my lips quite dry after a little while. I then found that if I moisturise my lips before applying that it doesnt dry them half as bad as if you just apply it straight away. Still a beautiful colour!

Tips: Apply something to moisturise your lips before using. It can dry them quite fast. Apply a gloss in the afternoon to keep your lips from flaking.
