Maybelline Color Sensational Color Elixir Lipstick Review

I have this in Breathtaking Apricot, which is a gorgeous colour. It goes with coral-coloured clothes or orangey/salmony-pink clothes. I think the packaging works well as I like to be able to see the colour I’m applying, especially if I’m in a rush to get to work in the mornings, I don’t want to be reading the bottom of lipsticks to find the correct colour, I can see the colour straight away with this lipstick. I also really like applying it, it just glides right on and feels nice and smooth on my lips. I really like the cute, glossy colour so I am wearing it quite a lot at the moment. I think it goes well with my medium blonde hair and pale skin. Would highly recommend this product!

I have this in an adorably soft salmon/apricot colour. It looks a lot more pigmented in the tube than it actually is on my lips. I expected this to be a liquid lipstick with maybe a satiny glossy finish. But this is just straight up a lipgloss with pretty packaging.

It does suit pale skin well, perfect for soft, blushy looks. I can imagine this looking gorgeous in spring with some coral blush and a natural or pink eye look. Layered over an orange or pink gradient lip also looks great because of its semi-sheerness. It's great for everyday wear, with average staying power. This is the kind of gloss I'd wear if I'm out for 2-3 hours, knowing that it'll be still more or less intact by the time I get home. I hate reapplying lipgloss, and always wipe off everything and start over completely if I'm going to reapply. This doesn't leave a sticky residue on my lips when I wipe it off, but it does feel a little dry afterwards.

Bought this lippie on the recommendation from a friend, the Color looked amazing but with my skin tone, made me look washed out. I felt that I needed to tone it down and kept having to re-apply which kinda left my lips feeling dry. It definitely is a beautiful colour but unfortunately a skin test is doesn't quite give you the true colour as it can change depending on the colour you clothes are and also seasons. Winter and fall are a good time to splash on brighter colours.

When I first tried these lipsticks I got confused at the packaging - its very clever but I thought when it came out in more of a liquid form it felt more like a gloss to me rather than a lipstick. But the formula and colours were great!

I have a bunch of these all over the place makeup bag, handbag, car. They have a lot of different colours, I really like them and find them handy as they are easy to slap on and they look great on.

I was intrigued by the creative packaging of this product. I actually got confused when I first saw this lip gloss as it looks like a lipstick. I think it looks really cool and it's like a lipgloss in disguise. I have this in the shade mauve mystique which in the tube looks like a mid deep grape purple colour. I was disappointed by the low pigmentation of this gloss. On your lips it comes out like a tint and doesn't really give your lips a lot of colour. I still liked the look it gave my lips but I was expecting more pigmentation as the colour in the tube looked a lot darker. It has a nice "my lips but better colour".

The sponge applicator is a good shape, perfect for precision application to your lips. The applicator is an ellipse kind of shape that is angled off the wand making it easier to apply. I find you get the perfect amount of product on the applicator due to the suction top on the lid. This means that you avoid putting too much on your lips.

The texture is glossy (of course because it's a lip gloss!), but it's not too sticky like other lip glosses which means that it doesn't become tacky on your lips. This lip gloss doesn't dry out your lips either and is even moisturising. I still like to wear a bit of lip balm underneath though.

It adds a decent amount of shine to your lips. I wouldn't say it has a sparkly or glittery type of shine, more of jaunt a glossy shine. The gloss lasts for about three hours or until you eat or drink.

Overall, this is a good lip gloss but because the colour isn't very pigmented I probably wouldn't purchase another one.

As everyone else has said, this product is definitely a lip gloss, not a lipstick. And a very glossy gloss at that! However, I had seen a video on them before hand and knew what I was buying, so I wasn't disappointed.

I have the shade "Caramel Infused" which is a nice dark nudey colour with a good amount of shine.

I really love the packaging and the applicator is really easy to use to apply a more precise finish. I do find that some lipglosses can go all over the show but the applicator on this is relatively thin compared to others and has a good point at the end to give your lips some shape!

Once on my lips the formula is a little sticky but I have found that this feeling dies down after 10 minutes or so.

I have found this lasts really well on my lips and feels quite nice and moisturising!

I want more colours!

I thought these looked quite interesting and had a good concept to them so I purchased one at a makeup sale in a nude pink color. I like to use this on its own if I'm just after a glossy look with a natural color. It's quite pigmented if you build it up but you can just wear it sheer by only applying one layer. It makes my lips a couple of shades lighter than my natural lip color. I also like to use it on top of another lipstick if I want a glossy finish. It's not glittery, it's just shiny to give your lips a wet look which I really like. It feels nice and moisturizing however it doesn't last long and can get a bit clumpy if you keep adding more layers.

I have bought these in a few different colours these give a nice glossy lip and it is not too sticky when applied. I really liked the packaging of this as I can just throw it in my handbag and go. The applicator for this I found was really good and easy to apply lippy with. The colour is nicely pigmented and not too sheer with the brighter colours I found. For me this wasn't a lipstick it was definitely more of a lip gloss feel to it. My favourite is the nude colours!
