I love that Mac lipstick comes in many different shades and textures. The thing is my lip easily to dries out. When I use Mac Lipstick in the morning by the time in Afternoon my lip start to feel uncomfortable dry even though I had scrub and moisturiser my lip.
Tips: Use lip scrubb and lots of lip moisturiser to smooth and easily apply canvas for lipstick.
I recently got a MAC lipstick through the back to MAC program (exchanging 6 empty containers for a freebie) after wanting one for ages and not wanting to spend that much on a lipstick. I went with Lady Danger and as much as I love the colour I can't wear this without getting it EVERYWHERE!!! Maybe it's just because I'm not used to wearing lipstick n=but everytime I wear this it ends up smeared across my face or on my clothes and this colour is BRIGHT. I will persist with it though as like I said I love the colour. Hopefully I can just learn to be a more careful lipstick wearer haha
Firstly MAC make some incredible colours! there are colours that you just can't get anywhere else.. I do find though that some of the colours crack, some of the finishes are dryer take a little more work to apply where others even someone new to makeup could easily apply. Same issues you come across with most lipstick except with a $40 price tag so I only really go for MAC lippy if I absolutely love the colour and texture, I'd hate to spend that money and not wear it on a regular basis.
I've always been a red lipstick wearer since doing dance competitions when I wars younger, so I always like to have a good red lippy on hand. I bought Ruby Woo last year, and can honestly say it's not my favourite purchase! Yes, the colour is amazing. Yes, it stays on for ages. But unfortunately it just goes horribly dry and feathers on my lips, even when I use a lip balm and lip liner.
I love the colours of these lipsticks however no matter how much I exfoliate I barely get through a day of wearing these without my bottom lip flaking. I don't have this problem with other lipstick brands. I won't buy these lipsticks but I will still continue to get them through the MAC recycling program. Won't say no to free stuff!
So for years I’ve worn Nude lipsticks as I was afraid of colour.
After challenging myself to step outside of my comfort zone, I paid a visit to my local Mac Pro store on a mission to find me a Matte Red lipstick.
After receiving no help from the MUA’s at the store, I just picked a colour I liked hoping it would work. Unfortunately for me….it was so a no go.
The Matte Lipstick Rouge A Levres lippies are beautiful, however the Lady Danger and I are not a match.
It wears really well, little to no transfer on to my teeth and actually felt rather nourishing on my lips. I was rather surprised that despite being a Matte it didn’t leave my lips all dry and cakey.
All in all it’s a great product and I would buy it again….just not in the colour Lady Danger. LOL
Tips: Do not buy it from a Pro Store in NZ as they're so grossly over priced. Get them online, for the same price I paid for in the store....I was able to get 2 other colours online and that included shipping.
MAC are excellent go to if you have a colour in mind. they are BOUND to have it. However the formulars are varied, they are definitely not my HG, but they are definitely not the worst lipsticks i've used.
The things is with these, i find i can get a pretty good dupe (colours and formula) elsewhere MUCH cheaper. To me they are on par with NYX.
They aren't high end, and not quite drug store, they are drug store (quality) with high end price tags IMO.
Some are overly creamy and don't last, others are too drying (i'm looking at you ruby woo) but there are still some diamonds in there with snob being one of my faves.
overall some hit and misses, you can get what your looking for better/cheaper/higher quality etc elsewhere, but we cant always try every single brand to find that one lippy you have in mind.
Its good to have a such a huge selection in the one spot.
The lipsticks was so pigmented and it kiss proof I am happy with it but it also make my lips dry. I would not buy MAC lipsticks, will try another brand who suit my lips :)
I own the lipstick Creme Cup, which is a creme sheen finish, and to be honest, I was actually quite disappointed. These lipsticks are so hyped everywhere, and I actually can not see why. I think the formular is quite thick and not very comfortable to wear. Furthermore i do not think these are very long lasting. According to me, they are too expensive. You do not get what you pay for.
Tips: Wear a gloss on top for a smoother feeling.
