A good starter

I received this in the March BRBB and I was so excited because I received the Brixton brown palette which fits me perfect I love the brown-er coloured eye shadows.

This cute wee palette has 5 colours there is a deep red colour in the centre and a peachy tan that are both quite shimmery but the deep red brown, medium brown and lighter brown are quite matte and have no pigmentation. The texture is quite chalky but it applies nicely and it's easy to blend I do however use my own brush as I hate the silly little applicators that come with the palette. I still think this is a nice basic palette, It's staying power is average if I apply first thing in the morning I have to touch up by lunchtime even if I'm not doing a lot. I like it but don't love it.

Beauty review beauty box

I received this in March's beauty box. In Brixton Brown I wasn't particularly drawn to it due to the shimmery colours. However upon using it the colours aren't so dark and shimmery as it seems in the palette. Upon application it blends easily and sets well with a good pigmented colour. It doesn't seem to fade and lasts all day no fall out during the day. Again surprised at how the colours see intense in the palette then on the lid but perhaps when used with a primer it could be a while different story. The palette is dinky but has 5 colours and has a diagram at the back of how to use the these colours for a nice eye look. I did try to follow that pattern but decided to just do my own look. The colours are a shimmer white / creamm a taupe brown a dark brown a chocolate brown and a Marron type red with shimmer I'm drawn more to the red maroon in the palette and will use that mainly as I've got the darker colours in other palettes I own. After seeing reviews on Rimmel I just needed to have the brand in my collection. Now that I do I say it just sits there looking pretty in my shadows basket.

Brixton Brown - Love the name!

This gorgeous looking 5 set of eyeshadows came in the March Beauty Box and as I have been a fan of Rimmel for years! I was more than overjoyed to see this little package in there.

The Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadow palette consists of 5 shade of browns that are of compacted powder formula. Application wise I found that these were easy to use but didn't have the power or pigmentation to really do stand out looks. For the price range though if you were to add a primer underneath to extend the life span then these are great starters for teens as you can't really overdo the colour. For me as there is that lack of wow factor and the colours are rather chalky, I don't think I would be using it again, or purchasing any other set from this collection under Rimmel which is a shame as the lip and mascara products are amazing.

Colour variety inside Brixton Brown consists of a beige tan colour that has a slight shimmer effect in the pan but is lost on the lid, a dark brown which appears to be matte, a more muted brown which again is more matte in appearance, brown toned red that is the most pigmented of all 5 colours and a very light brown almost creamy coloured with a hint of shimmer. It just lets me down, perhaps I am spoilt by some of my other eyeshadows that are on the market for similar prices that have more impact on the lids.

Brixton Brown 5 colour palette

This palette came in the March Beauty Box. Ít's not really colours I'd buy myself, but I was game to give it a go and see if I like it. I actually do like the shadows, and don't hate the colours, but don't wear them often enough to make it worthwhile for me and so will be handing it on to my Mum. I've given them a fair trial though and have a positive opinion of the product.

This Rimmel Glam Eyes HD Eyeshadow Palette is a 5 colour collection under the name 'Brixton Brown'.

The 5 colours are a dark brown, a milkier çhocolate'brown, a lighter dark taupe shade, a very shimmery creamy tan and a deep rust red. Of the 5, I love the shimmery creamy tan colour and tend to use that in my inner eye with the taupe on the lid and the darker browns on the outer edge and under my outer lower lashes. It does create a pretty, neutral brown eye look. The rusty red is a cute little pop of a different shade. All shades feature a degree of reflective particles or shimmer, meaning the light will (and does) hit them nicely to create a soft, shimmery effect, particularly if they are blended well.

These last well through my long day, especially if I use a primer. I've actally received compliments on looks I have created using them, and as I said I do *like* the shades, and really like the formula of the shadow, but it's one I'm content to hand on to someone I think will use it more.

Thanks for the opportunity to give it a go though BR x

All day shimmer

I received this product in the March BRBB and was thrilled as I received 022 Brixton Brown(I love brown shadows).

Applies nicely and has a lovely pigmented shimmer. I can say it lasted all day at work even till before bed. It didn't run away into the crease and it maintained its colour which is impressive as I have a really bad habit of touching my eyes during the day.

There was no irritation at all and felt light.

Pretty colours but somehow lacking

I've never been a big user of Rimmel products and truth be told, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I received this in the March BRBB and have so far been impressed with colours but not a fan of the packaging at all. I'm finding the colour payoff to last the whole day at work but it's hard to use a pallette of this size. The biggest problem I find is that the divider between the colours is so small it's easy to dip into the colour next to the colour you actually want to use.

I have 2 clear favourites in this colour range, 1st being the lightest shade, it's just and amazing colour that sets off my brown eyes and the 2nd is the red. I was scared to use it initially due to the redness of it, but once you apply it, it comes off as a beautiful reddish brown colour that again suits my eyes perfectly.

The pigmentation and blendability are spot on but I just can't see past how hard it is to ensure you're not mixing the colours up as you use them. I also can't see this lasting long at all as the shadows are so small. All in all, I wouldn't purchase again but am very glad to have been able to try a brand, and colours, I wouldn't normally use.

English Oak

So my sister gave me this quad in 'English Oak' (002) and I took it thinking, well at least I'll use the dark brown. I've had it about a year now and I love it and am considering buying it again as I just really love the colours! There is still plenty of the dark brown shade left but the others are almost gone :( It is super easy to apply and blend (throw away the included applicator of course) and has great colour payoff. If I don't plan on being out and about for hours on end I will use it without a primer and it still stays in place and doesn't crease! Which is more than I can say for a lot of eyeshadows. I have followed the wee guide on the back, and while still wearable, just isn't for me. All the colours are shimmery and I really prefer a bit of both shimmer and matte. In saying that, all of the colours are really stunning and could be (and have been!) used for areas other than their designated purpose. The only let down with this, for me, is the packaging. The union jack layout is very cute but just really impractical. The brown colour, that's intended as a lid colour, is really easy to get to but the others are in such tiny pans it is difficult to dip your brush into them without picking up the colour next to it. I've learnt to use a smaller or more pointed brush to pick up these shades but ideally it would be better as a normal quad with all shades having equal (or close to) size. Overall, I love ALMOST everything about this particular quad and would definitely recommend!

Glam eyes By Rimmel

When I saw this Rimmel Shadow pallette in my Beauty Box I was excited to use it. I do like to use products from Rimmel because they are accessible in your everyday stores.

This 5 Colour Eye shadow is called Brixton Brown. This eye shadow comes in a small compact. Its about a palm size. The first Shade of brown top left corner is a Dark Chocolate Brown. The second shade from the top right is a peachy colour, it has alot of shimmer in. The central colour is this Bronze. Bottom right is slightly matte light brown. The last colour is a slightly lighter dark brown from my first colour.

When I applied this shadow to my eye lid , it covered them well. I like this warm bronze central in this pallette. The earthy brown tones pull together a natural warm look. The browns work well for me when I'm trying to get a slight smokey eye in the outer corners of my eyes.

With frequent use of this shadow pallette I have been able to make multiple looks with it. My favourite shade in this pallette is this bronze colour. The sponge brush inside is handy to use. I like that this pallette has a diagram behind it showing how to apply this eye shadow. I've enjoyed using this pallette.

Not sure at first...

I must admit that when I saw this in the BRBB I thought ... hmmm how am I going to use this. The palette 022 Brixton Brown is not my usual choice of shades. But I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised! The shades in this are a light pale peach, a darker brown, a dark reddy brown, a darker grey, and in the middle a satiny metallic dark red.

The packaging on this is quite nice and slim. I like the clear lid so you can see what is inside. The shape of the eyeshadows inside is really nice too, a normal four squares then a round one in the middle. All good sizes for getting your brush into. It comes with one of those sponge applicators that no one uses... why do they still include these! I think they just suck up product and would much rather just use my fingers or brushes.

Now the eyeshadows themselves I actually love! One of the reasons I thought that I wouldn't use this very much was that they look really really dark to me. But I found when I applied them that they weren't as dark! Now if this was a palette I had bought myself I would probably be annoyed that they aren't particularly pigmented, but I love that they aren't as it makes the colours more wearable for me. So I think if I was to purchase more Rimmel shadows I would make sure to swatch them first so I knew the shades better. On the back of the packaging it has a suggestion on how to wear the shades which I usually don't follow but I tried it out and it made a really pretty look so I would definitely suggest having a play around with how you wear this. The eyeshadows themselves lasted about the same amount of time as eyeshadows usually do on me, so they were starting to fade at the end of the day but they didn't completely come off so that was a plus (not the 10 hours they claim though).

Overall I was rather impressed and THANKS BR for getting me out of my comfort zone colour wise.

Pretty Brown Eyes

I received this product in the March beauty box. My colour was brixton brown, which suits me very well as I always wear brown eye shadow, and the shades are gorgeous. I was keen to try it as Rimmel products have been around for many years and I used them extensively when I was young.

This palette is a very compact size, and I found it easy to use and straight forward to apply. There was some creasing, but let's be honest - my dry and aging skin are no help and I haven't used a primer near my eyes when using the product for fear it would add a little greasiness which completely doesn't work for older skin. Trying to use it wet was disastrous - wet doesn't work well on mature/ sagging eye lids.

It claims to last up to 10 hours -well I didn't try to make it last that long but it lasted ok for the time I was wearing it, so for me that's all I need.

Overall I think this is a good product and at $16.95 it is a good price for the quality of product, but for my age I don't think it would be my first choice of eye shadows.

Tips: This is probably better suited to younger women.
